I am extremely disappointed with my stay at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Austin. The company parking valet which works on the territory of the hotel doesn’t bear any responsibility for your car know this for the future!!! We used parking valet, on the territory of the hotel and the staff took the keys to our car, parked in an unknown place from 5 pm to 8 am we didn’t see our car. Unfortunately, we don’t have cameras or anything in the car to see all this. The next morning they returned our car to us with a damaged windshield. When we got into the car we discovered this.
While my car was parked in your lot, the windshield was damaged. I am certain the windshield was intact when I arrived, yet after leaving my car in your parking area, it was broken!!!!
I reported the incident immediately, but the response from your staff was unacceptable. Denying responsibility for damage that occurred on your property is not acceptable. I expected a higher level of professionalism and accountability!!!
I think when guests come to your hotel they should be completely sure that there will be no damage from the hotel and the valet parking. Yes, we were told that the valet parking is not part of the hotel, but that doesn’t matter. Then who is responsible for what happened to our car? Neither the hotel nor the valet parking company want to take any action!!!
We made a claim and told us to wait 3-4 days, since the insurance company from Parking Valet should find out, but unfortunately they sent us a letter that they are not responsible for what happened and will not return our money and they don’t want to fix our windshield!!!!!
Denying responsibility for damage that occurred on your property is not acceptable. I expected a higher level of professionalism and accountability.
This experience has left me frustrated and disappointed, and I cannot recommend staying here if you need to park your car safely!!!!!!!!

I had a great experience during my weekend stay at this hotel. The rooms are nice and clean. The location is right in downtown so that is convenient. The best part of the stay is the service by far. We paid for valet service and it was so worth it. Tucker was there working for most of our stay and he was always very efficient, kind, and helpful whenever we needed our cars definitely a huge help!

Upon arriving to the hotel the doormen were so polite! No line at all when we checked in. |Robert, (manager) at the front desk greeted me with such a kind smile. Our room wasn’t ready yet so he upgraded us to an absolutely wonderful suite. It truly was so kind of him and my husband and I felt like we won the lotto. Thank you Robert for making our stay so wonderful. The hotel is a great central location in Austin!

If this review is helpful, please make sure you give it a like the hotel is situated downtown, so it’s very easy for you to walk to things. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are made in a true suite fashion. The living area is very ample, spacious . I had a balcony in the room, as you can see in the pictures. However, when I checked in, I was unable to get the door to the balcony open. I called downstairs and the maintenance man came up almost immediately. He was able to fix it. The bed slept well and there is really good, hot water pressure. I went downstairs and I had the beet salad and some brisket pot stickers. The beet salad was good, but the next time I think I’ll skip the pot stickers. The bartender was extremely friendly. All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

My stay at the DoubleTree Suites was overall pretty good. The rooms were fine and the location is convenient, though some areas of the hotel could use a refresh. What really made the experience stand out was the valet team. Colin and Tucker were hands down the best part of my stay. They were fast, professional, and genuinely friendly every time I interacted with them. It’s rare to have service that feels this reliable and personable

Stayed here while I was attending a business conference in Austin. The conference was relentless but thankfully my stay here made it much better. My room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the bar selection was great. I always pay for valet service and that rarely works out at other places I’ve stayed, but Tucker went above and beyond. I drive a sports car with manual transmission that’s actually pretty hard for most people to drive. But Tucker had no problem with it, drove it like he had driven it all his life. It was always ready whenever I needed it. And he was friendly and helpful.

I had a great experience while staying here. The rooms were clean, everyone was nice and for the first time ever I paid for valet service and it was more than worth it. A young man named Tucker was so friendly and helpful. My car was ready every time I needed it. His hard work and promptness made me see how necessary valet service is and I will always pay for valet from now on.

Loved the location of Holiday Inn Austin Town Lake — right off I-35 and steps from Lady Bird Lake, perfect if you enjoy hiking or walking the trail. It’s also a short walk to Rainey Street, where we enjoyed drinks and college football at a nearby bar. The hotel was clean and comfortable. During our stay, the power went out late at night, and many guests were checking out, but the staff handled it very well. They offered either 50% off or assistance finding a nearby hotel with a full refund. We chose to stay, and the power came back around 2:30am. Even with the outage, we were able to shower with phone flashlights and the room didn’t get too hot. Overall, great location, good service, and a solid stay

Spent a night for a celebration and had the pleasure of being assisted by Jessica. She went above and beyond to help us get situated and made sure our birthday got off to the right start. The room was clean with a decent view, and the bar had a good selection.

I booked this hotel after looking at the reviews on Booking.com as well as having stayed in numerous Holiday inns previously.|It was only after booking I looked at the Tripadvisor reviews which didn’t shine the hotel in a good light at all! I am glad I didn’t take too much notice of those as out experience has been great.|The location is super for using the lake which we did on paddleboards and walking around the lake trail and also close to Rainey Street and downtown.|The breakfast we had included was good, the room nice , well maintained and clean ( 9th floor lake view)|Staff friendly, hotel airport free shuttle great.|Air conditioning can be a bit noisy when it kicks in but hell it has to work hard in this heat

I’ve lived in Austin 20 years and always wanted to stay at the best located and most eccentrically shaped Holiday Inn in town. Besides the amazing views, the standout was the amazing service at the front desk. My man George brought it all: cheer, efficiency, and enthusiasm to help with any request small or large. This guy is on your side!! Cheers George, if people had 10% of your attitude we’d have world peace now 🙂

First off, the staff here is genuinely awesome. Check-in was smooth and whenever we had questions (like where to grab the best breakfast tacos – crucial info!), they were super helpful and friendly. You can tell they actually care about making your stay great.
The room was really nice – clean, comfortable bed, and I loved the design; very stylish. Had everything we needed and the shower was actually hot with good water pressure (you know how hit or miss hotel showers can be).
But honestly, the location is what makes this place special. You’re right in the middle of everything on South Congress. We walked to dinner, browsed the shops, caught some live music, and didn’t need to drive anywhere. Perfect for soaking up that weird Austin energy everyone talks about.
Definitely staying here again next time we’re in town. If you’re looking for a solid place to stay in Austin that puts you right where you want to be, this is it. Worth every penny.

My wife and I stayed at South Congress Hotel as a little in-town staycation over Labor Day weekend. Based on our experience, I’d recommend room 301 specifically. That room offers a balcony, overlook of the pool shenanigans, and a view of the hill country. It’s also a very comfortable room. Only downside, the in-room fridge wasn’t working when we were there, but the front desk was happy to bring us ice. … The hotel is beautifully located to enjoy South Congress. Complimentary parking is appreciated. Room service is good, although I wish they stayed open a little later. The pool is very pleasant on a warm day. … Very good experience. Would recommend.

Had a great stay at the South Congress Hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. Loved the bar with its great selection and lively atmosphere. The common areas are very comfortable and perfect for lounging, working, or socializing.
The gym is well equipped for a hotel, with Peloton bikes and fitness mirrors (I believe from Mirror or a similar brand), which was a nice touch. The pool has a relaxed, low-key vibe that we really enjoyed.
Our room had a good balance of style and function. The only downside was the very dim lighting, which wasn’t ideal on a rainy Fourth of July weekend. Still, everything else more than made up for it.
The location is fantastic, right in the heart of South Congress and within walking distance of great shops and restaurants. Highly recommend.

Suite we had was nice on the face. But was rough around the edges. Door to the fridge was broken. Fridge wasn’t working. Toilet kept running. For a high end place, room’s flooring needs a major refresh. It also needs more comfortable furniture. Retro modern can be comfortable.

Bathroom was one of a kind. Didn’t stay here but I had to go number 2 and man was it something. Each stall was like its own separate room and the lighting felt like it was out of a Batman movie. It’s also extremely optimal for flexing I saw an 8 pack because of that lighting.

It was okay – I hated the toilet they had those buttons to flush but were super small and hard to push.
The bed was comfy
And soft and room was cute.
Not sure if they had black out curtains but the room did get full sun in the morning.
The trash can didn’t have a liner in it – thought that was odd.
Communication is poor and follow up non-existent.

This little gem is perfectly located, with a total Austin vibe. Near the incomparable ZACH Theatre, there are several unique restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.
The hotel itself offers lovely amenities, including a restaurant, coffee shop, and a secluded, resort-like pool.
The staff is amazing… Alex and Sailor went out of their way to help me plan a wonderful girls’ weekend with my besties from Dallas, who enjoyed a delicious taste of what makes Austin such an iconic city.
A memorable time was had by all. We will definitely be back!

Stayed for a well at Carpenter Hotel.
The rooms are swanky, funky and hip but practically not the most feasible – especially if you are traveling on a work trip.
Besides that the hotel is very centrally located – lot of nice walking/running paths, eateries and access to downtown close by.
The staff are super friendly and helpful. There is hot coffee and breakfast savories available in the morning. The pool and restaurant seems popular.

The Carpenter is a great hotel! The staff are very helpful, the place is very clean, the pool is really nice, the rooms are comfortable, the coffee shop is excellent, and it is in a nice location. I love how it’s walking distance to Butler Pitch N Putt and Terry Blacks. As an added bonus, there is a P Terry’s burger stand next door. The only thing I can’t comment on is the restaurant and bar as we didn’t utilize it.

This is a truly unique hotel. The property is beautiful and has an excellently crafted and curated aesthetic that will make you fall involve with it the second you set foot inside. The pool was great especially since we stayed in the hot and humid month of July. The restaurant had phenomenal breakfast and the cafe at the entrance is quite charming. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a special place to stay in Austin, this is it. Skip the charmless Marriott and Hiltons, and choose this instead. 100% worth it.

This hotel is quite unique set in downtown Austin. It’s definitely walking distance to 6th street and Barton springs to enjoy the nightlife or a relaxing weekend. Carpenter Hotel also has it all of you never even want to leave the hotel itself. The pool was relaxing and clean, the plants and patios all around provided ample shade to relax around the entire property. The rooms were clean and spacious. The downside is paying for parking it’s pricey with the stay $75 a day. They had a small cafe with patties, coffees and sitting. The coffee was good and the lemon raspberry croissant was exquisite. We had brunch at the restaurant there on the premises while it was good I would explore other options next time. This is a great place to explore Austin from or enjoy a relaxing weekend.

Staying at the firehouse hostel ended up being a great experience because of the fantastic staff including Hannah and Manny who were exceptionally helpful and kind to us and their efforts make the hostel a very fun and welcoming environment. The best part was that they thoughtfully organize events for the guests including a pub crawl so you can experience downtown Austin’s nightlife within a large group through the expertise of the hostel staff members that lead the way to ensure you hit up the right spots and locations! 5 Stars – Great Spot in the Middle of Everything
Firehouse Hostel is a solid place to stay if you’re in Austin. The location is perfect—right downtown and walking distance to bars, restaurants, and live music. The building has character, and the vibe is laid-back but friendly.
Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, and the staff is helpful without being over the top. Everything was well-kept, and I had no issues with noise or security.
The hidden bar behind the bookshelf is a cool bonus—great drinks and a good crowd.
If you want an affordable, no-nonsense place that still has style and a social feel, this is it. I’d stay here again, no question.

Wow! Very happenin’ place with people to match 🙂 I met a lot of people and each one was a unique and genuine person. Had a fun time on “dirty sixth” and the lounge at the hostel was one of the best spots to be at night. I love the music and livelihood; the whole vibe was really chill and the employees were very cool. Everyone is really open with their good recommendations, and the city has no shortage of things to do. Barton Springs and the surrounding area are amazing. Rideshare seemed preferable to renting a car, in most instances.

Stayed at this hostel for a total of 7 days. The kitchen & bathrooms were kept clean, my room felt secure, distance to iconic destinations were feasible, all that would’ve been enough if not for the extremely friendly & outgoing staff (Ashlyn in particular) who made my stay feel comfortable & welcoming. Her professionalism & kindness might be one of the primary reasons I’d return! I’d highly suggest to anyone visiting to take the time to meet their hostel staff and get to know this city through the many events hosted. Will definitely be staying here again!

A reservation was made by mistake per management once you have been in the unit for longer than eight hours they typically don’t do a refund I have seen roaches. The toilet is stained with P the toilet tub is stain. Everything is outdated. It’s disgusting. I don’t have a picture of the large one Here’s their nasty toilet seats, which are not expensive to replace. This reservation was an accident, but I took it anyway and now I’m sleeping with roaches or not sleeping because I’m terrified of them. And on top of that, I had to go back to the office three or four times because my key wasn’t working. The lady was like are you sure you’re doing it right? I’m like yes ma’am I’ve been in and out of the door for five times now and she didn’t say anything And followed me to my door. It said here you can watch me do it and she said well, we can change your rooms mind you I drove from Georgia stayed at a hotel in Mississippi and they had to change my room to a beautiful hotel no roaches so clean and she said well are you planning on leaving for the night? I said I don’t know maybe And she said well. This is something maintenance can fix in the morning. Why doesn’t maintenance check these types of situations before people go into the rooms. I understand batteries can go out at any time, but I do maintenance as well and we had blocks that were battery operated and there’s a way to tell when they’re dying. It is an inconvenience to me to get in and out of my room and now to sleep because there’s roaches and it’s filthy And I’m sure management won’t give me a refund back because I’ve been here too long meaning more than eight hours, which is just ridiculous. This is unsanitary and poorly managed.

Very basic room. No coffee maker, no hair dryer, two small soap bars.No dresser to put my clothes into. Short on hangers to hang my clothes. Thankfully I brought all my own toiletries.. Could have used additional towels. Room appeared clean, until I saw two roaches running along the walls. We did have a lot of rain which could explain the roaches.
The outdoor lights were so bright it shined into the room even with the curtains fully pulled so I had a hard time getting any sleep. No restaurant nearby and the hotel did not offer any food. The handicapped parking was on the other side of the building from where my room was.

This location is likely a good option for those who appreciate a no-frills, straightforward lodging experience.
Customer Reviews
This property claims to be a 2-star hotel. According to Google that would include the following. I’ll then tell you where this property falls short:
Rooms: Clean, comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, TVs, phones, and hygiene essentials. The room was clean but NOT comfortable.
Amenities: Limited amenities like free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and sometimes breakfast
Services: 24-hour front desk access and owner/staff availability by phone
Dining: On-site restaurant or dining area serving breakfast weekly and dinner at least five days a week
This Motel 6 offer NONE of these except a clean room, comfortable bed, decent shower and heat. You always get that from Motel 6. But NONE of the rest at this property.
1. I have never had roaches at a Motel 6. This was a first.
2. The air in the room was “clammy.” So humid papers curled. This is because the condensate drain is plugged. The same waterlogged air keeps getting over chilled and recirculaed. Damp bedding. Very unpleasant.
3. After repeated requests to have the desk and both bedside reading light bulbs replaced, I finally went to Home Depot and bought $38 worth of 2-prong florescent bulbs and replaced them myself. I also had to replace the TV remote batteries. Other than that the TV worked, but the sound was mushy.
4. Had to manually override the toilet float valve to get enough water in the tank to flush.
5. The vending machines were ALL empty. The sign said “See office.” They were also out of everything. Every washer and every dryer in the coin laundry was “out of order” the whole 14 days I was there.
6. 20% of the time the Internet was non-existent. Not weak or intermittent a “strong” wifi network signal, just no Internet, like they didn’t pay the ISP bill. I need Internet for business. I finally called the Motel 6 complaint line and things did improve a lot.
7. The house phone did not work so cell was the only way to reach the office.
8. But that didn’t work when the Internet was down because their outside phone lines run on VoIP.
9. Since the office door was locked 24/7, the sign said “Use night window,” which was 70 feet from Interstate 35 and on the same grade, so you had to yell. This is not a high crime area, I think they keep the door locked to discourage complaints. And it worked. I finally quit.
In terms of maintenance, the room interior was “Motel 6 OK,” good paint, etc. The outside, sidewalks and stairwells weren’t. The big stuff got picked up, but pizza crusts, cigarette butts, sporks, beer tabs, bottle caps, condoms, all the little stuff that doesn’t blow or wash away and would be hard to pick up just accumulated.
I’ve stayed at Motel 6 many times and they have mostly been “good enough.” But since the advent of Studio 6, the Motel 6 properties have slowly slipped to 1-Star. Google that and you’ll get a fair description of this facility. Except for the clammy air, faulty toilet, missing light bulbs, empty vending machines, defunct laundry, exterior filth, unreliable Internet and inaccessible office. Oh yeah, and roaches.
PS: I did have a 15 lb. dog. He loves to run away, so I put a note on the door, “Dog inside, do not open.” This is the excuse I was given for no A/C maintenance, toilet or light bulb service. I said I was there working 90% of the time and would make a point of being there if I knew when he would come, but no maintenance man ever knocked. I really doubt there was one. Unless you absolutely can afford no better, stay somewhere else.

Be aware. They have rooms without a fridge and microwave. You book a room and the rooms that have a fridge and microwave are not available??? So glad I stopped at a grocery store. So I could throw out the stuff i bought for a 3 day stay. If i could have got a refund. I would have gone somewhere else, that had a room with a fridge and microwave… ? First for me, I’ve never rented a room that didn’t have that standard in the room.

Pros:
location. Not too far from the tourist areas and shopping. Plenty of places to pick any essentials. Even in check in they have items you may purchase.
Parking: easy parking. Do wish it was gated but that’s a preference.
Price. If you need a night or 2 to stay, it will fit your needs and wont break the bank! (This may also cause some of the cons below. )
Pool. There is a pool available but was too cold when visiting but is nice to have the option to have. I did not use it so can not speak on condition of it but seemed fine far away.
Wifi: wifi worked great !
Cons:
No fridge or microwave. An inconvenience but if you aren’t staying long, should be able to work around that.
Room service: no do not disturb sign available. And weren’t told when cleaning days were so was surprised when I noticed that someone entered the room after returning. We did get towels which is appreciated but due to safety concerns, would have liked a heads up.
Ac: the unit made loud noises. Worked but had to turn off at times due to the sound.
Room : outdated. Broken headboard and bathroom border. Bathroom super small. Toilet did not flush well. Floor was sticky when we first arrived.
Summary: on a budget and need a place to stay a max of 2 nights ? Does the job! but the value comes with some drawbacks.

The front office simply has some internal healing to process in order to release the lies of hate and hostility that lives inside, therefore out. The transformation will do wonders for the world, and specifically the Motel 6 at Harmon. Prayers to the transformation process into goodness.
Give your existence, resource, and time to the stay you deserve that will honor your light, the light. If not, keep flowing in your light elsewhere.
In Jesus name
Blessings!

Costumer service is top notch I believe family operated so I’m a huge fan of that . stay here 8 times a month and value the consistency of the team ,rooms are kept clean and property as well .like any older hotel there’s always something that’s gonna need to be fixed but they immediately respond to any request I’ve had give it 8/10 because it’s older property but service 10/10 all day

We stayed 5 nights so we didn’t spend much time in the room. 4th night we found roaches in the washroom then a smaller one by the sink. The maid said it was “small” but I complained and we were able to switch rooms. Moved our luggage to the next building in a nicer room only to find roaches at night again. I would turn the bathroom light on & by sink, they’d scatter behind the big mirror. Kept all the lights on the last two nights. Thankfully nothing in the bed any night.

The East Austin Hotel presents a unique lodging experience. The concept itself is quite appealing, offering a blend of private spaces with communal areas, fostering a social and interesting atmosphere. The design seems thoughtfully executed, prioritizing a stylish and modern aesthetic that caters to travelers seeking something different from a standard hotel. The location is evidently a draw, providing convenient access to nearby amenities and entertainment.
Generally, it appears to be a solid choice for those desiring a comfortable and distinct stay. The emphasis on cleanliness across the shared spaces is very important for guest satisfaction. The staff friendliness and helpfulness are vital elements that enhance the overall visitor experience, contributing to a feeling of hospitality and genuine care for each guest.

Great location and price for the hotel. But it does get busy and loud here. Rooms were good, no problems with it. Pricing is the most difficult for this hotel. They do charge a lot for overnight parking so the best option is to do paid street parking which should cost less than $10.
Bars are close by and so if you want some close proximity to night life it’ll be worth it. Also they do have a cool rooftop bar as well

Had a great time during my stay here! My cabin room was clean and the shared restroom area was unique and we’ll maintained. Becca and Shannon at the connected Second Bar & Restaurant were an absolute joy.

I had a great time at EAH! My cabin-style room was small and tidy and very comfortable, and the shared bathroom situation was incredibly clean and private. A great style of hotel stay for a solo traveler. I didn’t stay in one of the typical hotel rooms, but I walked by a number of open doors and they looked just as tidy and nice as mine. Definitely recommend this spot! Tons of restaurants and bars nearby.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2025, and it was one of the worst travel experiences we’ve ever had. The room reeked of damp, the carpet was covered in huge stains, and we even saw cockroaches crawling through the hallway. The shower was so filthy we had to wear flip-flops to feel remotely clean. The only thing that seemed clean were the sheets—and even that we’re not sure of.
The receptionist was completely unhelpful and indifferent. As foreigners, we struggled to communicate, and he made no effort to slow down or speak clearly. It felt like we were bothering him just by checking in.
To make matters worse, we were charged a $260 deposit—equal to the cost of our stay. We were told it would be refunded within 3–5 business days, but we didn’t see that money again for two full weeks. We’ve stayed in much nicer hotels in the same city and state, and the deposits there never exceeded $95.
The parking, which cost an extra $34 per night, was advertised as secure—yet the gate was left wide open all night. We didn’t feel safe at all.
Honestly, this place was nothing like the photos. For $50 more, you can stay somewhere cleaner, safer, and with staff who actually care. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The room was ok except for a very moldy smell in the room and no place to put your luggage. The pool was nice, service friendly. $20 off breakfast was good. But do not stay here if you want quiet. They have a roof top bar that is open to midnight on the weekend (10p during the week) and plays very loud music till then. You cannot sleep thru it.

I recently worked with the events team on a private party in their rooftop bar and was blown away by their service. They went above and beyond to make sure the celebration was personalized and special. Thank you for such warm service. I look forward to the chance to return for another celebration!

I came to East Austin Hotel for an event—not even an overnight stay—and I was blown away! From the moment I walked in, the staff was beyond amazing: so kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they care about creating a great experience for every guest, whether you’re staying the night or just there for a few hours.
The space is absolutely stunning—chic, cozy, and full of that unique East Austin vibe. Everything from the atmosphere to the service was top-tier. The drinks were amazing, the setup was flawless, and the energy of the place made the whole night feel special.
If you’re thinking of hosting or attending an event here, do it. 10/10 recommend and I’ll definitely be back!

Extended Stay America – Suites – Austin – Downtown – Town Lake offers a convenient location for those needing a longer stay. However, be prepared for a basic experience. The cleanliness can be inconsistent and a thorough inspection of your room upon arrival is recommended. While the staff are generally pleasant, there have been reports of issues with the key card system which can be frustrating.
The amenities, such as the kitchen facilities, are a draw for extended stays but don’t expect luxury. This is a budget-friendly option, and the price reflects that. Potential guests should consider that noise levels may be higher due to the proximity to downtown Austin and the hotel’s construction type.

Not worth the cheap price, spend a little more per night and go somewhere else. I expected the building to be dated and budget, which was the case. I didn’t expect the sketchy parking lot or the homeless encampment in the woods behind the building. The absolute worst part was the smell in the third floor hallway, imagine chemicals mixed with puke mixed with rotting trash mixed with nursing home smell. The AC unit in room had obvious black mold. The staff was friendly but their computer and door card system is extremely slow. Extended Stay hotels are very hit or miss, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Arrived and was told that my 11 day stay was refused because the hotel was fully booked and that they’d left the responsibility of contacting me to book elsewhere to Expedia.
Would recommend double-checking any booking. If you shake hands here, count your fingers.

Great location but that’s about it. Stayed 2 weeks and regrettably with my toddler. Never again. Room smelled, NEEDLE CAPS under the bed and we got a stomach bug the first two days there. Front desk named Amber was RUDE. Could not be bothered for anything and never had anything( towels, sheets, trash bags etc) available. Also the keys ALWAYS mess up. Was locked out of our room after midnight and could not find the front desk because she playing hide and seek with the security officer who also said he didn’t know where she was. Oh and they continue to charge you even after you checkout. This location was a nightmare. Never again.

One of my best stays at an extended stay America in a long time location is perfect, the rooms are spacious, the service is wonderful, the rooms are clean, the staffs here are very helpful and friendly. Wanted to thank Mrs Latasha Vaughn the General Manager for holding a wonderful place for us to stay and feel comfortable while we sleep. A lot of people look for a high end place with a cheap price and to me this place is very well taking care of. I enjoyed my stay here and I will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you all

Awful customer service. The weather strip on our front door was not up to code and literally anyone could have come into our room. Our next door neighbors were so loud and rude. The whole hotel reeked of smoke and was so outdated. The bathroom door even has water damage. It’s gross and disheartening to have stayed here and been charged more than two nights stay for smoking even though the employee neglected to inform us of the policy and did not send documentation to sign until 4:50AM the day after check in.

For what it is, this is an excellent value for money. The rooms are clean and equipped with the basics management is quick to help and has a great attitude. Very positive vibes in general. It’s not supposed to be a Hilton, but for those who are looking for more longer accommodation and find themselves in a bit of a limbo or for those on business trips it’s perfect.

Positive: The staff is really nice and helpful. They do everything they can with what’s available to them. My room and bed was clean and I appreciated the grab and go breakfast. I had a muffin and coffee, which was all I needed. Negative: My room’s old food smell SO bad, but it’s probably inevitable with a kitchen. The AC could use regular cleaning and filters because the smell really came out when the AC kicked on. Breakfast was supposed to be til 9:30 and it was gone when I went at 9:15.

Austin Motor Inn seems to be struggling with providing a consistently positive guest experience. Reports suggest challenges with basic services, indicating a need for improved staff training and a greater focus on resolving guest concerns promptly. The overall impression is one of a property needing significant attention to maintain a level of comfort and safety for its occupants, particularly regarding cleanliness and security measures.
Several accounts highlight a lack of responsiveness to problems and shortcomings in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. A renewed commitment to guest satisfaction, encompassing everything from housekeeping to handling emergencies, appears crucial. Prioritizing customer service and ensuring a safe and reliable environment would greatly enhance the property’s reputation and value for potential visitors.

My toilet overflowed on a Saturday night . Went to the front desk to get a mop, or maybe some towels or maybe even some cleaning supplies. Nothing. I had to drive to Walmart and buy a mop and some cleaning supplies so I wouldn’t have to sleep in my own waste. No refund ever offered.

As far as service, housekeeping was okay, but every other action with all other team members was unsatisfactory. One of the handicap spaces was consistently blocked by poor parking in the space next to it and the employee guy had the nerve to question whether or not I had a placard but no one corrected the poor parking job.

Had nearly 3 break ins overnight & when reported to the workers we were invalidated and told ‘you should’ve looked at the reviews.’ Bed bugs all over the place, cigarette smell & burns in the beds. Terrible parking. Seems the owner is in on the men who stay around the area at midnight. Women & children, NO ONE should stay here at all.

First of all the short heavy set lady that works 1st shift is a the MOST disrespectful person I have ever dealt with at any hotel was charged $25 for a power cord and $15.00 for 1 wash cloth which is all they will give you that a 2 towels. The cord was not off of the property and could of said something as it was plugged into TV cord. Then I was told that my room was being rented from somebody else that I had to leave even though I paid for it and booked it through an online third party before 11:00 I still had to leave my vehicle had just been vandalized not there somewhere else it 107 degrees outside and we had to wait outside from 11:00 until 4:00 actually it was later than that it was about 7:00 when I was able to get in because they charged me with so many different fees it ended up being over a hundreds Plus a night that day I don’t mean to be disrespectful or call the old lady out but she was just so rude that I know I can’t be the only person that had experienced that with this lady she knows who she is going need to put a grievance in on her because that was just uncalled for and very very disrespectful and rude

The manager forgot to give me my receipt of returning the remote and room key. She is now refusing to send my deposit back to me and keeps lying about it not being her. I’ve stayed before and never had this issue. How sad they will steal from customers and it’s only $10 that’s pathetic.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hostels in Austin
What exactly is a hostel?
A hostel is a form of budget-friendly accommodation that offers dormitory-style rooms, typically with shared bathrooms and communal areas. Think of it as a social hub for travelers. They often emphasize a sense of community and provide opportunities to meet other travelers from around the world. They’re a great alternative to hotels or Airbnbs, especially for solo travelers or those on a tight budget. Hostels are a popular choice for backpackers and people seeking a more social travel experience.
Why should I choose a hostel over a hotel in Austin?
Choosing a hostel over a hotel in Austin often comes down to budget and social preference. Hostels are significantly more affordable than hotels, making them ideal for budget-conscious travelers. They also offer a more social environment, with communal areas designed to encourage interaction among guests. You’re much more likely to meet other travelers and share experiences. Austin's hostel scene caters to a range of interests, ensuring you'll find a place that fits your travel style.
What are the different types of rooms available in Austin hostels?
While most Austin hostels offer traditional dorm rooms (shared rooms with bunk beds), you can often find a variety of options. These may include mixed-gender dorms, female-only dorms, private rooms (single or double occupancy), and sometimes even small apartments. The specific room types available will vary by hostel, so it’s important to check the details when booking. Private rooms provide a bit more privacy and comfort while still offering the benefits of hostel amenities.
What amenities can I expect at an Austin hostel?
Most Austin hostels offer a range of amenities to make your stay comfortable and convenient. Common amenities include free Wi-Fi, communal kitchens (where you can prepare your own meals), luggage storage, lockers (usually for rent), laundry facilities, and often social areas like game rooms or patios. Some hostels may also offer free breakfast or organized activities. Checking the hostel's listing will show you what's provided.
How much do Austin hostels typically cost?
The cost of Austin hostels varies depending on the time of year, the location, and the type of room. Dorm beds generally range from $25 to $50 per night, while private rooms can cost anywhere from $75 to $150 or more. Prices tend to be higher during peak season, such as during festivals and events. It’s a good idea to book in advance, especially if you're traveling during a busy period to secure the best rates.
What is the best way to find a good hostel in Austin?
Several online platforms are dedicated to listing hostels, such as Hostelworld, Booking.com, and Hostelbookers. Reading reviews from other travelers is crucial. Pay attention to comments about cleanliness, atmosphere, location, and staff friendliness. Consider the hostel's location relative to the attractions you want to visit. Filtering by ratings and amenities is also a smart approach.
Are hostels safe?
Most Austin hostels prioritize the safety of their guests. Many have security measures in place, such as key card access, lockers for valuables, and security cameras. However, as with any travel destination, it's important to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions to protect your belongings. Utilizing lockers for valuables is a very good practice. Hostel staff can usually provide information on local safety concerns.
What should I bring to an Austin hostel?
Packing for a hostel requires a bit more consideration than a typical hotel stay. Essential items include a padlock for lockers, a towel (some hostels don’t provide them), earplugs (for a peaceful night’s sleep), and flip-flops (for communal showers). A travel adapter is also important if you're coming from outside the US. Don’t forget your sense of adventure! Packing light is always a bonus.
What is the general atmosphere like in Austin hostels?
The atmosphere in Austin hostels is typically social and relaxed. They often cater to a younger, more adventurous crowd of travelers. Many hostels organize events and activities to encourage interaction among guests, such as pub crawls, walking tours, or game nights. However, some hostels also strive for a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere, so it's important to read reviews to get a sense of the vibe.
What are the best neighborhoods in Austin to stay in a hostel?
Several Austin neighborhoods offer a good selection of hostels. Downtown Austin is convenient for accessing attractions and nightlife, but can be pricier. South Congress (SoCo) is known for its quirky shops and restaurants and offers a few hostel options. East Austin has a more laid-back vibe and is home to several cool hostels with unique character. Considering your intended activities and budget is key in choosing a neighborhood.
