I’ve been going to CrossFit Renew for almost a decade now and it’s been a great experience. The coaches really know what they’re doing—they take time to explain movements and make sure you’re doing things safely, which I appreciate. The community is a big part of why I keep showing up—I actually look forward to going to the gym every day, which hasn’t always been the case for me. Overall, it’s a great spot if you’re looking for challenging workouts, a great community, and coaches who know their stuff.

I did CrossFit Renew’s postpartum program: “Rebuild.” The first six weeks of personal training restored confidence in my ability to use my core muscles. I had not planked in 8 years, because I was so afraid of doing it wrong and hurting my already fragile postpartum core. I did this program 3 years after my third (and last) baby. I am so thankful to have found Coaches (Sadie & Jess) that understand the postpartum body and how to build muscle safely and effectively! I am stronger, more confident and more knowledgeable!

We’re recent transplants to Austin and I’m so glad we found CrossFit Renew (and that it’s close to our house)! The community is so welcoming and friendly. The programming (CrossFit affiliate) is challenging enough even for accomplished athletes, but with plenty of modifications for every fitness and skill level. And class times that fit our schedule! We love it here.

This is my first CrossFit gym that I have been to and my experience so far has been great! Everyone is so attentive and caring. Their nutrition coaching is also very good and helpful, giving you great ideas and accountability. I can definitely recommend this gym and the programs they offer.

This gym has a great nutritional program, it’s not just fitness. I worked with Tim Dancey and I would 100% recommend him to anyone who is looking for a coach to help you reach your goals. He was consistent, always positive, always reminding me that every small step counts and is worth celebrating. Truly had an outstanding experience and would do it all over again.

Becky, Emma, and the whole team are top notch. They care a great deal about their clients and set you up for success every step of the way!
It’s still a journey , I don’t think I’ve reached my goals yet, but what the program has done is create awareness and understanding and a path to build off of. I’ve also been including the accountability perspective to all aspects of my life and it has elevated my quality of life overall.

IYKYK. It’s the spot in Austin. Not your air-conditioned gold’s gym type experience. Half is outdoors, half is inside but *open-air*
Love coming here to get my sweat on and get some vitamin D, and a tan simultaneously during my workout. (Shirts optional) Immediately improved my winter blues by getting to do this outside daily. I think this is its most unique quality of LiftATX.
Fantastic pricing if you can get in at $50/mo. They also waived my initiation fee for military/first responder.
Read about why the LiftATX community was started originally— on their website. Would much rather give my money to them than a corporation.
Yes, it stays very busy due to the popularity of the place, especially at peak hours, but I’ve never been unable to find an open piece of equipment to complete my workout. If you don’t wanna use the outdoor equipment, then yeah it’s gonna be a lot harder to find an open spot so you may have to wait a few minutes for your turn.

I wanted to love this gym, and while I did enjoy working out there, the cons outweighed the pros. Be prepared to walk through the minefield of tripods, wash rust off your hands constantly, experience long wait times, and give up your structured routine (because you’re just waiting for whatever machine is available). Loved the vibe but this is definitely a gym for people who want to be seen. I would say it’s worth an occasional day pass for a fun workout in the open air where you can go shirtless, but not worth the membership.

I really wanted to like this place, and can understand why people love it so much. But this place just isn’t for me. Working out here makes me miss every old gym so much more. From the heavily used and worn equipment to the level of dust, crust, and or rust, to the many tripods, I quickly saw that I was paying for something I didn’t want. If you’re only concerned about vibes and aesthetics then this place is for you. There’s a general wavelength that I’m clearly not on. If your gym or fitness center needs are outside of this perimeter you could go to other places for a comparable or even a reasonably higher price. 1 star because I didn’t enjoy it, but 1 more because they’re consistent in their vision of the gym(that which I can appreciate).

☆ 2/5
A gym that left quite an impression on me. Though it may be considered small by some, I found it to have a fantastic vibe that I would rate 10/10. The selection of machines and weights was great, despite the slightly rustic appearance. However, what really stood out to me was the cleanliness and maintenance of the gym. It was clear that the owners prioritize keeping the space in top condition.
The people at the gym were also super friendly, and I noticed that dogs are allowed , which is a nice touch even though I don’t personally have one. Additionally, the gym has both indoor and outdoor areas, providing a nice variety of workout environments.
While the cardio area was on the small side (just a treadmill and stairs), I still enjoyed every moment of my workout. The music selection was really nice and added to the overall great vibe of the place. Overall, the gym had a garage gym vibe but with amazing decoration, music, and a good parking lot. If you’re looking for a gym with a welcoming atmosphere and great equipment, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Solid gym here in ATX. Love the vibes, it’s got a good old fashion grunge garage gym feel to it and I mean that in the best way. Staff was helpful, lighting was good, the weights were real iron, I’ll definitely be back

Please PLEASE incorporate a policy to limit the number of lifters from UT powerlifting club that can work out at the squat racks at one time. They keep taking up nearly all of the squat tracks during after-work hours!! This leaves none left for the 98% of your customers who are also here to get a good workout in.

Chris was so chill and welcoming. Immediately greeted us and let us know what to expect in class. I feel we got a lot done in the hour. Warm up was quick and relevant to the movements for the skill & WOD. He knew how to split the group and delivered the scaling options quickly. He used our names, checked in with us, as well as everyone else in class, and made us feel right at home. Great class!

This was my first class at Central Downtown so a little intimidating since I don’t know anyone, but it was a great workout and everyone seemed friendly. Cullen was very engaging and made his way around the class throughout the workout to encourage and help everyone. It was nice to see all types and abilities working out together. Looking forward to more classes!
I’ve also been to several personal training sessions with Will. Super smart and friendly guy who knows his stuff and made the onboarding process very easy. He kicks my butt every session but manages to still make it fun. Overall a great way to get into CrossFit. Highly recommended to anyone thinking about joining.

Favorite gym in Austin. Been coming since 2021. All the coaches are fantastic and here to meet you where you are today with your physical health. Always provide great feedback on movements to ensure proper form or provide alternatives to work in to the suggested exercise or lift. Great at staying with market trends and offering a mix of options – hybrid & hyrox, CrossFit and HIITs, as well as barbell and gymnastics. Literally anything you want to improve, they have the staff to get you there!

When you come to SoChac you will move your body, lift heavy things, and sweat a ton. And you will love it!!!
Having been a member for a little over a year now, I can honestly say that it is one of the most encouraging and accessible places to workout. The entire staff of coaches does an excellent job of meeting you at your individual fitness and experience level, and the classes are designed so that novices and experienced athletes alike can workout alongside each other seamlessly.
Come be a part of this positive and uplifting community. You will not regret it.

So happy to be part of this community! I’ve long been intimidated by CrossFit, and I think that’s pretty common. But if you’re new to it, on a fitness journey, trying to get stronger – whatever the case – SoChac is the place for you. The coaches most definitely have the experience to work with seasoned athletes, but this is at the same time a very beginner friendly gym which I personally love. There is such a welcoming and supportive energy at SoChac and its the first time in my life I’ve actually had fun while working out. I look forward to going to class (usually, ha) and that’s certainly never been my relationship with fitness before. There are monthly community workouts you can attend or even just come watch if you’re hesitant but curious. You can prioritize your physical health, and have fun doing it – at SoChac!!

If you’re searching for a gym that offers real challenge yet adapts to your unique skill level, look no further. This is the place for you. Having trained at several CrossFit gyms, I can confidently say this one stands out—it meets me at my current abilities while consistently pushing me to grow. The coaches are not only welcoming, but also highly skilled at identifying and addressing your weaknesses. They’re committed to helping you become the healthiest version of yourself, year after year.
Each session is thoughtfully designed to make sure you warm up and cool down key muscle groups, reducing the risk of injury and helping you get the most out of every workout. What truly sets this gym apart is its community. From the moment you walk in, you’re invited to grow and learn alongside others—all within just an hour per session.

I’ve been training at CrossFit SoChac for around a year and a half now, and I can’t recommend them enough!
From the very beginning, the community has been welcoming, supportive, and genuinely fun to be around. They offer various workshops throughout the year to help you improve different aspects of your journey—whether it’s nutrition, technique, endurance, or more. And the coaches, specifically, are amazing! They’re all incredibly knowledgeable, motivating, and truly take the time to help you refine your technique and safely reach your goals.
I definitely feel that when the day comes for me to leave SoChac (hopefully not anytime soon—haha), they’ll have left a lasting impact on both my physical and mental health.
Shout-out to:
1. Coach Sandra for the continuous remote nutrition support during the two months I was traveling.
2. Coach Larry for always helping with technique and pushing me to do better in class.
3. Coach Amanda for all the running support—I couldn’t have accomplished my first 10K without her!

I can’t say enough good things about SoChac! My wife and I were looking to improve our health and wanted something we could do together. We had very different experience levels in the gym, so this was proving difficult…until we gave SoChac a try!
Before every workout, the coaches check in with you to make sure the workout meets your skill level, challenges you appropriately, and accommodates your body that day(injuries, fatigue, etc). It’s really awesome and allows everyone to tackle the workout together as a community, regardless of where you are in your fitness journey.
We cannot recommend SoChac enough. The classes, the coaches, the community…all top notch. We feel healthier than we ever have before and only wish we found SoChac sooner.

When I first started doing CrossFit, I only saw it as an exercise to gain strength, but over time I realized it was so much more. It also helped me discover many abilities I didn’t know I had, and it helped me overcome many fears and insecurities. Now it has become my favorite place, with friends and super kind people. And what can I say about the Coach—an excellent person, very professional, with a huge heart, compassionate and demanding at the same time. Lol I love my CrossFit2024 family.

Jared the owner of CrossFit 2024 gets the job done. We with met with a few personal trainers before Jared and most were not a fit. Jared doesn’t take long to understand your goals, limits and how to stretch and push you beyond perceived limits. He knows my potential more than I do. He got me Hyrox fit, I was targeting a 1:20 and I came in under at 1:18, loved his approach which was to train with heavier weights and longer reps and distances which paid off big during race day. I have a background in Running and Triathlon and all this focused and prescribed weight and strength training (lifting heavy things and to failure at times) has only made my running and multi sport pursuits more enjoyable, faster with no injuries. I also attend a few of the group CrossFit sessions, and whilst at first I felt intimidated, the group and community couldn’t be more welcoming and supportive. Love this place, love the community, and the no BS approach to getting strong!

CrossFit 2024 is a place for everyone no matter their level. Jared, owner and coach really gets to know his members and their abilities. He takes the time to individually work with each for improvement whether it’s form, personal records, nutrition and an overall healthy lifestyle. I have been a member of 3 other CF boxes and CrossFit 2024 has been superior to the others. Unfortunately I’m moving out of state, and I hope to find a box half as good as CrossFit 2024! In just a couple of months, my experience at Voodoo Crossfit has been incredible! The coaches have been so friendly and helpful, making me feel like a part of the community right from the start.
Even as a newcomer, I never felt out of place because the peers are genuinely welcoming and supportive. They offer advice whenever needed, creating a positive and motivating atmosphere.

As a beginner, I was worried about keeping up, but the coaches have been fantastic at adapting the workouts to match my current fitness level. It’s amazing how they cater to everyone’s needs, ensuring everyone gets a challenging yet achievable workout.
Despite being relatively new to weight lifting, I never felt intimidated here. The gym fosters a non-judgmental environment where everyone is focused on their own progress and growth.

Got back into CrossFit after 5 years, and decided to join Voodoo Crossfit 512. The trainers are attentive, kind, and knowledgeable about fitness, exercise, and mobility care. In the first few days, the trainers quickly identified and helped me correct my bad form in certain exercises (which I didn’t even know I was doing incorrectly). Incredible coaching and gym experience. From the day I started, I shared my injuries with them, and they worked with me daily (even checking in with me via text) to see my progress. I have since recovered and even improved my mobility and strength numbers! Whether it is in-person coaching, the community, or even on social media, I have felt seen and included at the gym, which has made training that more fun and exciting again for me. I have truly enjoyed my experience here. 10/10 would recommend!

My sessions with Tarek were great. He helped me achieve my goals of burning fat and regaining much-needed energy. I had a really weak back, and he designed a program to help me get back in shape during his semi-private sessions as I prepared to start CrossFit. He focused on gradually building strength, and I am seeing results much faster than ever before in my workout journey. Tarek truly pushes you to achieve greatness. I would definitely recommend him if you want to feel good and look good, as I’ve heard that everything falls into place when those two aspects align.

Dropped in to CrossFit Uncommon while visiting Austin from Australia and was blown away by the experience. The coaching was sharp, the workout was tough but fun, and the members made me feel welcome straight away.
The gym is clean, well equipped, and has everything you’d want whether you’re local or just passing through. I’ve trained at a lot of gyms back home and this one definitely stands out.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great CrossFit session in Austin. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

I can not say enough good things about this place. My husband and I joined last June and this gym is seriously unlike any other crossfit gym (or any other type of gym) you will ever step foot into. The coaches are some of the most knowledgeable, kind and inspiring people. They make sure everything you do is done properly so there are no injuries. They are SO positive and so is everyone that is a member here. We couldn’t be happier and can’t imagine Upreach not being a part of our lives! Our 13 year old son joined in January and it has been so good for his self esteem and coordination. All the coaches are patient with him. The owner is amazing and just an all around great person!!! We love Upreach!!

Such an awesome and inviting community. Dropped in for the 8 a.m. class. Great stretch/warm up before class. Programming was fun/challenging while also being very scalable to your fitness level. The price is such a great value, especially for Austin. Most importantly the people are what makes the gym. I had a gym member spend at least 30 minutes with me passionately expressing what the gym meant to her. Anyone that’s looking for a gym but also a genuinely supportive community, please do yourself a favor and check them out. They have a free trial class.

Went to the free Saturday class on 2/15/25. The session was so much fun and challenging. The coach, Holly, I believe, gave great instructions, demonstrated the workout, and was checked in on everyone throughout the hour. Will definitely do again!

6 month ago I was a yoga/ Pilates girl but now I am soooooo much more thanks to Sola! It made me realize how cool being strong feels! I wandered into this gym and just took it one class at a time. I was immediately struck by how friendly and welcoming the gym goers are and how accommodating the instructors are to meet you where you are fitness wise. When you arrive people say hi if they’ve never seen you in class and you are immediately cheering for each other to get your workout done. All ages and fitness levels are here- and everyone is just killing it by showing up. There are many movements I haven’t done since I was a kid, like a handstand, or a rope climb! And let me tell you, it feels so good to be asked to do these movements again and realize you can do it if you try! I learned a lot of my limitations were really mental, and the coaches help me work through that too. So mentally and physically, if you wanna grow, try it!!!

LOVE my workouts at SoLa. It’s the cleanest, most well-equipped CrossFit I’ve ever been to. Their coaches are knowledgeable and welcoming, and the community is motivating and fun! They’ve hosted several comps and the owner Jess always puts together a well-run and organized event. Sola has won Best CrossFit Gym in Austin and it’s easy to see why! Check them out! I love this gym in the heart of Austin, on Congress Ave. The gym is clean and vibey, the changing room feels like a spa, the classes challenged me in a very good way, and bonus: the steam room in unmatched (seriously the best steam room in Austin).
The staff were always friendly to me, and I enjoyed the ambience and thoughtful lighting of the f gym (most gyms have way too bright of lighting).
They validate parking, which is nice if I want to check out some of South Congress without paying ridiculous parking fees.

Great gym and great staff, my experience while attending was awesome. But OH MY GOD do they make it impossible for you to cancel. I would consider your level of commitment before signing up, it took me 3 whole months to successfully cancel the membership. Communication is poor from management and they clearly do it on purpose, Id love a refund but I doubt it. Much better gyms out there with more ethical practices, would never sign up again

I’ve enjoyed Equinox at other locations and always felt welcomed and valued, which is why I became a member in the first place. Unfortunately, my experience in Austin has really changed my perspective of the brand.
I was in Austin for job interviews and wanted to check out Equinox as a potential club if I moved to the city. Unlike other locations, I wasn’t even offered a tour. I was told I had to pay $45 just to step inside, and I only stayed 15 minutes.
What I saw wasn’t impressive: unclean towels left in the sauna, limited amenities, and an unwelcoming atmosphere. This was my very first interaction in Austin, and it left a bad taste in my mouth — especially as I was considering Equinox as a central part of my new community.
Instead of trying to make a strong first impression or show hospitality, I felt dismissed and unwelcome. If you’re considering this club, I’d recommend visiting other gyms in the city first.

I used this Gym while I was in Austin for a month from Mid February to Mid March 2025. I am a member in Toronto so was able to use the gym for the short term. I thought the gym was fantastic. Roman, the manager was so friendly and helpful during our stay. My husband and I both trained with Johnny and he is a great trainer. I highly recommend him. All the other staff were excellent from the front desk to all the trainers. Yes it would be great if they had a sauna and that does not effect the excellent rating this club deserves. Thanks again for the great month:)

Been going here for about 4 years. Three members of my family and 2 of my best friends are founding members. All of us have expressed concerns between each other about the way they manage cleaning in this place. Today I decided to express my concerns to a cleaner about how they should try and avoid cleaning in areas where people work out. Should stop spraying chlorine or other cleaning chemicals and vacuum while people are still working out. In addition to the fact that it’s unethical and unprofessional, it’s also dangerous health wise as the immune system is not at its best when you’re working out. Also, people may have all sort of medical conditions that may be affected by this routine.
I asked the staff member politely to stop doing that around me and his answer was that i could go and use a bench on the other side and i was the first one to bring that up. I said this isn’t a concern that i just made up now – my friends as well have brought this up. His answer was “Which friend?!” “What’s his name?” I was speechless by that approach.
Then he called the cleaning manager. She approached me in a very rude and aggressive manner. First thing she said was “don’t talk to my staff” without even assessing the situation. I got very disappointed. I explained the situation again and she denied spraying cleaning elements during workout hours. She challenged me to show her. I said we pay too much to be impeded and risk our health while working out. We could go anywhere but have chosen to come here because we expect a certain standard. Then she abruptly said if you have complaints- talk to the GM. She asked for my name and number and then left and told the cleaner “go and clean away from him”.
I am very disappointed by the way they talked to a customer in the first place. But i genuinely think
they really didn’t understand my concerns. Unreal experience!

Conveniently located, great staff, and amazing classes. I’m originally from NY so I’m used to smaller equinoxes. The only thing this location missed out on was a rooftop pool that would have been perfect in Austin. If you’re looking for a trainer ask for Johnny, he’s amazing.

Frequently Asked Questions about CrossFit Gyms in Austin
What exactly is CrossFit?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that combines elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardio. Workouts are typically short and intense, and are designed to improve overall fitness and performance. It's known for its constantly varied workouts, meaning you rarely do the same thing twice. The goal is to build functional strength and improve physical endurance.
Are CrossFit gyms in Austin suitable for beginners?
While CrossFit can seem intimidating, many CrossFit gyms in Austin welcome beginners. However, it’s important to find a gym that emphasizes proper form and technique before progressing to more complex movements. Most reputable gyms offer introductory classes or "fundamentals" programs designed to teach the basics. It's crucial to communicate your fitness level to the gym staff.
What is the typical class structure at a CrossFit gym?
A typical CrossFit class usually involves a warm-up, a skill or strength portion, and a "Workout of the Day" (WOD). The WOD is a timed workout that often involves a combination of exercises. Many gyms also offer open gym time for members to work on their own goals. The intensity and duration of classes can vary significantly between gyms.
What is the cost of CrossFit memberships in Austin?
The cost of CrossFit memberships in Austin can vary widely based on the gym’s location, amenities, and class offerings. Generally, memberships range from $150 to $300+ per month. Some gyms offer introductory rates or packages for new members. It's important to compare prices and consider the value offered by each gym before committing.
What equipment do CrossFit gyms typically have?
CrossFit gyms are generally well-equipped to handle a wide range of workouts. You can expect to find equipment such as pull-up bars, weightlifting barbells, bumper plates, kettlebells, medicine balls, ropes, boxes, and a dedicated area for cardio equipment like rowing machines or treadmills. The availability of specific equipment can differ between gyms.
What should I wear to my first CrossFit class?
For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Think athletic shorts or leggings and a moisture-wicking t-shirt. Wear cross-training shoes that provide stability and support. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and a towel. Most gyms have lockers for storing personal belongings.
Is CrossFit safe? What are the injury risks?
Like any form of exercise, CrossFit has inherent risks. However, many injuries can be prevented by focusing on proper form, gradually increasing intensity, and listening to your body. Common injuries include muscle strains, sprains, and tendonitis. Working with qualified coaches and prioritizing technique is vital.
How do I choose the right CrossFit gym for me?
Choosing the right gym is about more than just price. Consider the gym's coaching staff, the community atmosphere, and the location. Many gyms offer free introductory classes or consultations so you can experience the environment firsthand. Look for a gym that aligns with your fitness goals and personality.
Do I need prior experience before joining a CrossFit gym?
While prior fitness experience can be helpful, it's not a requirement. Most gyms welcome individuals of all fitness levels. However, be honest about your current abilities and limitations during the initial consultation. Be prepared to modify exercises as needed and prioritize learning proper technique.
What's the difference between a CrossFit box and a standard gym?
A CrossFit "box" is a specialized gym designed specifically for CrossFit workouts. They often have a more intense and community-oriented atmosphere than a standard gym. CrossFit boxes emphasize functional movements, constantly varied workouts, and coaching on technique. Standard gyms typically offer a wider range of equipment but may not have the same level of coaching or the same focus on CrossFit programming.
