Dr Barnes and her team are absolutely amazing and I am so thankful for them. They were able to see my girl the NEXT DAY and were so kind to her and explained to me all the steps and treatment needed. All the medicine was well labeled and explained as well. I already knew I would be following the instructions and medications as recommended. I’d only say the area of improvement could be explaining the cost a bit more - but the cost was more than reasonable and fair. I am so thankful for them - truly. Yes, they can be a bit busy but it’s also an emergency facility and they balanced the emergencies that came in while I was there in grace. We were referred for ophthalmology not emergency- but they are great at balancing both departments. Once again - so thankful and really wonderful team from techs to doctor.
While I obviously wasn’t happy that my cat was in such bad shape that she needed to go here, they made it a really good experience. She was in critical condition so they took her in almost immediately and began treatment. My vet didn’t think she’d make it but these doctors didn’t seem to have an issue getting to the root cause and nursing her back to near full health. I’d say the only negative is the price but it’s to be expected with 24/7 care.
Today I had to say goodbye to my beloved pup, Sambo. He was originally my mom’s dog and became mine, and we were lucky to share over 13 wonderful years together. Sambo had been facing several health challenges, and I chose humane euthanasia so he wouldn’t suffer. The staff at Central Texas Veterinary were incredible—every person, from the receptionist to the nurse and the doctor, showed such kindness and compassion. In the midst of my heartbreak, their care made an unbearable moment a little more peaceful, and I’m deeply grateful for that.
I took my poor kitty here at 1:30 AM. That night, I unexpectedly had to send him across the rainbow bridge. I’ve never done that before and it breaks my heart being without him. This vet office took excellent care of him and were all so kind to us in the process. I am grateful to have had these caring folks to guide us through the process. I even received a handwritten note in the mail offering their condolences. Thank you Dr. Miller and all staff that was there that night ♥️
My pups health took a turn for the worse. The team at Central Texas Vet were kind, thoughtful, and empathetic to mine and my pets needs. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye that night, but I’m thankful to the staff who took care of me and my pup in our last moments. Thank yall for helping me through my first rainbow bridge experience.
Central Texas Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital South Austin gave our dog truly exceptional care after he suffered a tibia-fibula fracture that required surgery. Dr. Krista Adamovich, DVM, performed the procedure and took the time to walk us through every detail with clarity and compassion. Her surgical expertise and thorough explanation gave us complete confidence that our pup was in the very best hands. Carolyn at the front desk was so kind and helpful, keeping us well-informed and supported every step of the way. After surgery, Bri provided thoughtful and detailed post-op teaching that helped us feel well-prepared to care for him at home. The entire team was incredibly kind, communicative, and professional from start to finish. We are so grateful for their outstanding care and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone needing emergency or specialty veterinary services. They are simply the best!
When we first arrived, they happily signed us in if you're willing to front $1000. Once you've fronted the money, they take your animal away to be "put in an oxygen box", a very pricy and frequently unnecessary step. Then they put you into a virtual holding cell for 3.5 hours until they get around to dealing with your animal. Even after that time, they took a failed xray that didn't show the actual damage that was done and recommended we leave him overnight so they could fully sedate him and take better x-rays. Their prices start inflated and having him stay overnight so they can "watch" him would of course inflate the price drastically. Afterwards, when they were explaining the course of drugs, the vet was extremely aggressive, rude, and condescending. According to prior reviewers, this place has gone downhill from what it used to be. I don't know how this place is still in business. There's a place across the street that's rated significantly higher. That's where I'll be going in the future when I have a vet emergency.
