I stumbled upon this place by chance, expecting a typical video game store or a library of sorts. To my surprise, it turned out to be a haven dedicated entirely to board games. This is such a fun spot! The walls and racks are lined with an incredible variety of board games, ranging from DC Comics-themed to Dungeons & Dragons. Towards the back, there are tables and chairs where people can gather to play. They also host regular tournaments, which adds to the excitement. The staff is super nice and inviting. Although I don't play board games, my visit to Mothership has really sparked my interest, and now I'm eager to give it a try.
Gabe and Griffith were extremely helpful. They gave us the best advice and suggestions on some older Pokemon cards we found in parents' garage. Sunday nights are Magic nights.
Interesting little shop. Friendly staff and a huge selection of dice and other gaming accoutrements. There was a MtG tournament the day I stopped in and the place was packed. The guy behind the counter was friendly and knowledgeable. Had an interesting discussion about getting the younger generations into gaming and how it helps them develop academically. Definitely a spot to return to the next time I'm in Austin.
Use to enjoy this shop but my last two visits have been pretty awful. When Lauren ran the counter we never had any issues but the last two sales associates acted like I was bothering them or wasting their time. The shop was not busy but asking the counter to pull more than 2 singles is apparently against their policy now.
Absolutely my first stop if ever I need games, recommendations, or just a woman and inviting community. The owner is dedicated, the staff is knowledgeable, and I genuinely always look forward to a trip here. Randy, Gabe, Giff, and the entire staff are just incredible human beings.
Wonderful store with great staff and even better selection. From true card players to kids looking for a new puzzle this place has everything in between. Fair pricing and knowledgeable staff you’ll leave happy regardless. Happy to see this is a popular and safe place for trading and tournaments, welcome to all.
Always a great visit! May not always have what you need but definatly is a great vibe here for purchasing collectibles as well as getting down with some table tops games on their special nights for releases or drafts.
