Best campgrounds in Austin: find options near you

My husband and I visited this park on a whim during our last trip to Austin to celebrate family. This park has been glued to my mind since we left.

It wasn’t too hot, despite being summer in TX, thanks to the glorious amounts of shade in each area. I loved how grounding it was to be fully immersed in nature while walking the trails, exploring the creek, or diving into the swimming hole. Others at the creek were polite and considerate, adorably sectioned off into each their own little slices of heaven.

Something that especially stuck out to me was how the limestone (I think?) rock structure (forgive me, I’m no geologist) serves as a natural “built in” diving board/ladder. There’s a short cliff like ledge that hangs over the water, perfect for cannonballs. It’s mostly solid besides a couple scattered holes sitting in the perfect spots for climbing back up to the stable ground above. While it’s not particularly my kind of fun, it’s a joy watching families splash in together and climb up to do it all over again.

Regrettably, we didn’t time manage well enough to spend as many hours here as I would have liked. Now that we know it’s here though, we will come back with plans, booking an entire day, at least, to explore all this park has to offer! Or as much as we can at the very least. 😀

An amazing trails, it’s easy to get around and has such beautiful sites, it was my first hike and I loved every bit of it. It also gives a history as you go through and it’s really lovely so alhamdulillah for this trial. I felt safe and the people on the trails are very kind esp the workers. Thank you it took the onion creek trail ( for hiking and bikes )

We had a great visit, even though were rained out most of the visit. The part is great in it’s location if you want to see Austin, but definitely still feels “away”. The campground were very nice and the access to Onion Creek to play in the water is wonderful. Unfortunately, we did not get to check out the trails. The staff, facilities, visitors center and all else was great. We’ll be back for a visit with better weather!

Jeremiah was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to get my kids, puppers and me a last-minute campsite reservation, even though they were about to close. The entire staff was nothing short of awesome. We had a great camping experience and felt very safe, especially with the nightly patrols.
The campsite itself is truly beautiful, with plenty of room and a wonderful campfire area. We especially loved the gorgeous Onion Creek swimming hole and waterfall. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I hope others get to enjoy!

I had wanted to test my camping gear for a while and didn’t know McKinney Falls state park was available right in my back yard! The staff was super friendly, the showers and bathrooms were clean (as clean as a park restroom can be) and the site offered no issues. Also the price to camp was really cheap! I’ll definitely be back and going to try and plan a friends cabin weekend here at some point. Highly recommended and a heartfelt good job to the rangers and staff of the park!

If you’re visiting Austin and want the perfect mix of adventure, history, and chill vibes, McKinney Falls State Park is it. Tucked just minutes from downtown, this 744-acre paradise feels like a world away.

We camped right inside the park (highly recommend!), and it became our home base while we explored all things Austin. After a day packed with city sights, nothing—and I mean nothing—beat cooling off in the waterfalls. Imagine the Texas heat, then suddenly you’re floating in crystal-clear creek water surrounded by limestone rocks and shaded cypress trees. Absolute bliss.

The falls themselves? Straight out of a postcard. Upper Falls is serene, perfect for relaxing. Lower Falls has deeper pools for swimming and a more rugged vibe—great for photos and quick dips.

Bonus: there are trails, ancient rock shelters, and even ruins of a historic homestead to explore. It’s nature, history, and camping magic all rolled into one.

It’s a beautiful little get away location. We stayed just in front of bathrooms which were left lighted all night. The spot we did was only 1 night, no electricity hook up or water. Their RV locations have 3 or 4 spots where you are allowed to have tents. Nice fishing area and very clean, grass is well maintained.

This place was ok. Nice but ok. Because it’s narrow, with all the jet ski and boats zooming by there are tons of waves depending on your mood that worse, that could be a good or bad thing. Also, the are no grills in the big grassy area before the lake so bring your own. There is plenty of space to grill and they table tables.The entrance to the lake- there is a small drop down after stepping over some branches and twines so young kids and less mobile adults may need some help up and down. There are restrooms and porta potties

A. Well-maintained public access point to lake Austin. Whether it’s for the day or the weekend, malong offers relaxing views in a natural environment.

Lake Austin doesn’t have a no wake rule, which has pluses and minuses. It means you can have jet skis delivered to your camp spot on the water and it means as a swimmer you have to be a little bit more cautious.

I felt safe the whole time. I was swimming and it felt like the boats and other water goers were very sure to give swimmers a wide berth.

Hiking fun with the girl Scouts! The trail is great for anyone without mobility issues. Also, if your knees hurt or you get winded climbing stairs, and your balance is off, then do not attempt this trail.

Gorgeous views… but can we talk about the dog poop bags left everywhere? If you can bag it, you can trash it. Let’s keep these trails beautiful, y’all! This is also an off leash area.

It’s a beautiful place with a flowing river, but sadly, people have made it very dirty. There is black charcoal-like debris scattered along the banks. When boats create waves, this debris floats out into the water, and if you try to enter the river, your legs get covered in the muck both while going in and coming out. So much garbage has been thrown around, and it clearly needs strict vigilance to stop people from polluting it further.

We paid $10 for an entrance ticket, but there was no one to check whether people had actually bought tickets. This place has the potential to be a serene and beautiful destination, but it’s being taken for granted and misused. The boat riders and skiers drive so fast that it disturbs those who come here seeking peace and quiet

This park is great! Idk how I hadn’t been here before. I’m always telling yall my secret spots n I comeback n it’s jumping. This is a great spot to picnic and enjoy a fun day with the family. So beautiful and fun and there’s usually good parking if it’s not too too crowded. Basically one of my fav spots in austin and a great place to bring 1st timers.

My daughter lives in Austin and was always wanted to have a place to stay when we get there with RV. It’s very difficult.. We recently discovered the KOA East Austin, which is 20 minutes from her. We stopped there for one night on our way through to see the starship and Bocachica., didn’t get to see much of the resort because we left early warning and right late night. But returned back we sat there for two night to see my daughter and some friends, and I was able to check out the Rv park. When I walked in, I was welcomed with the friendly lady named Deb, she was so nice and welcoming. There’s a small store there that has canned food, sodas and drinks and other things you might need for the RV it closes it 5 o’clock.. they will also deliver ice to your campsite. Everything is so clean and kept up here. The laundry room was so clean bathrooms, etc. etc. etc.. the workers that work all day long great job. Pool is also good and there’s a swingset for kids..you can also have ice delivered to your campsite. The sites are level and also have different choices, from grassy areas to patio with grill. They also have nice bungalows. Dog park, and out of Austin, great place to stay, 20 minutes, to Congress, or downtown, great place to hide while visiting Austin.

We had an excellent stay at Austin East KOA. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The property is spotless and well maintained, with a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. A real highlight was getting to see the two resident longhorns, which made the visit even more memorable. We also appreciate that they don’t discriminate against dog breeds, which earns major bonus points. Highly recommend this KOA for anyone looking for a great place to stay near Austin!

This is one of the best KOA’s I’ve been to. It is close enough to Austin to be convenient but not too close. We love the pool and the dog run is huge. The only issue I have is with the roads going to the KOA. They are rough and narrow. We haul a 44’ fifth wheel, so this park is barely doable because of the roads. Otherwise, once you get there it’s golden.

We stayed here during our cross country road trip and this is by far the best KOA we’ve stayed at. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They provided lists of recommendations, which was really helpful. Facilities are impeccably clean. We’d definitely would visit again.

This was a great park, super clean facilities, great staff, dog park, pool everything was exceptional! Got in real late and Steve checked in on us to make sure we were getting set up properly. We will be back.

A fantastic, well-run campground. The staff is friendly, caring and professional. This is our 2nd time to stay here. It is busy as there are many spots, yet quiet campground. Good internet access too. Very clean. Laundry room is one of the best we’ve seen at any campground.

Shelly and Steve are both wonderful hosts! The sites are large and clean, Kamp K9 is huge with grass and some nice trees, the laundry facilities were very clean and the pool was heated to the perfect temperature! Garbage pickup at your site every day was nice too! The camp store has some really cute items.

The facilities are ok…but my stay was miserable. I arrived very late and when plugging in my small 15’ 30 amp motor home the breaker tripped…twice!!! I was only able to run the AC…but I thought it was stable. The next day after i went to visit family (aunt’s 99th birthday lunch) I checked in the office and I told them about it. They offered to let me move sites but I didnt really want to… when I went to|The site and found the breaker had tripped again!! And my pets were in 87|Degrees, Panting. Tried to call The office and none of the paperwork has the phone number on it so I had to look it up on the internet to get connected and its thr phone number for La Hacienda cab|Company?? What?? Anyway…I was not very happy about|It! Later i found i needed a code to go|Shower and the office “forgot” to give me that info. I would have given a discount or comped a night for the trouble especially at $240.37 for a two night miserable|Stay. Save yourself the trouble. It’s not that great.

We stay at Sun Outdoors 3 months in the winter and 1 month in the fall. We have checked out other RV parks when the prices started to increase about 3-4 years ago. There was no other RV parks around as nice as Sun Outdoors. The sites are spacious and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The trees provide wonderful shade in the fall. The pool is cold, we’d like it better if it was heated. The Pavillion is used by our group a lot. Laundry rooms are cleaned daily. I would highly recommend this RV park

We’ve stayed here a few times, very convenient location for us while visiting in the area. It has recently been updated and is very nice now. Looking forward to coming back to just relax.

We’re currently staying here with our three- and one-year-old and have really enjoyed our time so far. The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained. The staff and the community have been so kind, and the playground near our site has been perfect for our little ones. We chose a site to be close to the pool and park, which has been really convenient.

Something to note for other families with young kids: during our stay, the resort began more strictly enforcing a rule that children aren’t allowed in the warm pool. We completely understand that this is based on safety considerations, but it’s helpful to know in advance—especially if pool time is a big part of your plans.

The only pool option for children is the cold pool, which the staff have mentioned is heated and kept at a comfortable temperature. However, in our experience—and from chatting with all the other guests we’ve met—it still feels too cold for young children and even the adults to enjoy. Since the rule change, the pool area has been noticeably quiet. We’ve had to find other ways to entertain our littles.

We respect the resort’s perspective, but just want to share what it’s actually been like during our stay, in case it helps other families with little ones plan ahead.

This is still a wonderful resort, and we would absolutely recommend it to couples, solo travelers, or families with older children. For families with toddlers hoping to swim, this may be a better fit during the summer months when the cold pool might feel more inviting. Our hope is that the resort might consider turning up the temperature in the cold pool to accommodate for the seasons, so that all guests—especially families or those with grandchildren —can fully enjoy the beautiful amenities they’ve worked so hard to create.

We’ve had a great stay, and just wanted to share our experience to help those with children plan accordingly!

I’ve always wanted an RV and live in this resort since 4 years ago when I visited my friends living here and they had a big Mardi Gras parade that was so much fun and such a clean kept up place!
Now I live here full time and I thought my life was going to be easier than living in an apartment but no.. I have to take leaves that come back the next day! Well since corporate has taken over their lawn service sucks! They don’t bag the leaves anymore and they are everywhere stopping the grass from growing and bringing in more bugs. There are ant piles everywhere because the lawn service doesn’t spray the yard even in the pool area by the tables they just sprinkle some white powder on the few piles that are reported but don’t look for. You have to buy your own grass seed for your yard if you don’t want nothing but weeds! There are roaches in the community center showers and it always smells! The fixtures are rusty, the lighting was bright but now super dim lights in the showers and bathrooms! The fees went up $300 for long term but the services have gone down! They need to bring back whoever was taking care of it 4 years ago.

I’ll take this down when you start bagging leaves again and spraying for bugs!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best RV Resort Ever – Feels Like Home!

We’ve only been here for five hours, and we can already say this is the BEST RV resort we’ve ever visited! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and kindness. Sharon, Beth, and Josh were the first people we met at the office, and they instantly made us feel like family. Their hospitality set the tone for an incredible stay.

The resort itself is absolutely stunning—the landscaping is beautiful, the amenities are amazing and well cared for, and everything feels top-notch. We’ve traveled to many RV resorts across the country, and this one truly stands out above the rest. It’s family-friendly, impeccably maintained, and designed with guests in mind.

We can’t wait to enjoy everything this resort has to offer. If you’re looking for a place that goes above and beyond, this is it!

I’ve been staying at Sun Outdoors for about 6 months have never had any issues with other residents or employees. Unfortunately a few days ago someone contacted the police and requested a wellness check to my site. With how the officers showed up and handled the situation I have been served an eviction notice. Not one of the corporate owners or GM has had the decency to come by or call and talk with me about the incident! Instead they just kick me out without hesitation. I am a single mother and now will not have a place to live. I do not recommend Sun Outdoors to anyone!

I just walk here from my apartment. It’s great. About 3 miles down there’s some fun swimming spots

Be prepared for an extraordinary hike!
This 1,000-acre urban oasis has over 12 miles of rugged terrain, mountain-biking & hiking trails, and creeks with swimming holes (although one of the two waterfalls has dried up because of lack of rain). Once you get to the second one, you’re gonna want to take off your clothes and take a dip in the pool if you don’t mind the algae and water-borne organisms.

Barton Creek Greenbelt also features amazing rock formations made of limestone for rock-climbing and bouldering. Although this is a family-friendly adventure, it’s not for the faint of heart. Young kids will get tired, adults will be challenged, and the rest will be craving some happy hour afterwards.

Nice hike in Austin. It was still reasonably nice weather in May when I visited but the creeks were mostly dry even though we had a lot of rain the past few days. But it’s a nice hike nonetheless. There is parking but the advice was to take anything valuable with you are cars are frequently broken in.

Great green space in the city. Can hear the freeway from pretty much the whole trail, except when it’s drowned out by the falls. Trail is easy to walk (I’m in poor shape and was able to get to Sculpture Falls in flip flops). Lots of rocky parts to watch your footing, and exposed roots to avoid stepping on for the sake of the roots. Great to get into nature workout driving an hour out of town

Snakes are there though it’s just water snakes beware of it. And it’s good trekking place I feel it’s better than turkey creek. But it’s not very good to enjoy with ur buddies and water is there so if you are bringing your dogs it will enjoy a lot.

My wife and I came here to do a day hike and we were not disappointed.

Visiting from out of state, Barton Creek was an incredible green belt reservation. We completed a 3 hour loop but stopped around halfway from the total length of the hike.

We visited in December and the river was dried up, which allowed us to walk right in the middle of it.

We also saw a dozen or more groups of people rock climbing across the various parts of the park.

The park itself seemed dog-friendly and there were lots of opportunity to bike across the terrain.

I also highly recommend stopping by Tacodeli across from the entrance of Barton Creek Park to enjoy some awesome tacos. I highly recommend the shrimp taco!

It’s a good place for hiking and escape from the city. At few places water had dried up. But you need to go all the way to the end to find a natural pool which is very beautiful.

I had a great stay at Oak Forest RV Resort. The park is clean, well-kept, and offers plenty of amenities that make it stand out. The sites are spacious, easy to pull into, and many have shade which is a big plus in Texas heat. The pool, hot tub, laundry area, and dog park are all very well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay.

The location is also a major advantage—close enough to downtown Austin to get there quickly, but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet when you’re back at the resort. It feels safe, organized, and has a nice community vibe.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend Oak Forest RV Resort to anyone visiting Austin. Whether you’re there short-term or long-term, it’s a solid choice with a balance of comfort, convenience, and good atmosphere.

The park is very well kept, our site was spotless and so was our neighbors from Tennessee. Not to mention the rest of the park and sites. We were furnished with a propane grill with gas and outdoor table and chairs that were all fairly new and is great quality. The shower rooms were private and large with key pad entry and the pool&hot tub looked very inviting even though we did not get a chance to utilize them. Check in and out was a breeze. Highly recommend this park.

Noisy at night. Loud music after midnight. Had problems with laundry machines . Office is closed on Sunday so you’re mostly on your own. Found quests in pool area breaking rules. People drinking alcohol in glass bottles standing in the pool. Sites were clean but very close to each other. Restrooms filthy since they don’t clean on Sunday. Only good thing is location which is close to downtown Austin. Would suggest looking for another location.

We have stayed here many times over the past 5 years and continue to go back! The staff is very helpful. The sites are well maintained and clean. Very quiet and yet close to everything in Austin.

It’s a nice park, one of the nicest that’s close to downtown, however… a lot of their amenities are broken or unusable. The pool is closed a lot, the grills don’t work in the outdoor kitchen areas. The office staff is super friendly but there is a lady who works on the grounds that is very rude and unprofessional. We have been here for over 6 months. If being close to downtown is a priority, this is probably the best park you will find. But if you are fine with being a bit further out please go somewhere else. It’s very expensive and literally the only thing you are paying for is location.

The RV Resort was top notch! The resort is well maintained , there is an abundance of room between each spot, and lots of mature tree for shade. The resort is a combination of full time residents in RVs, part time RVers, and tiny houses that are so cute! The restrooms and showers are individual rooms with their own locking door and the laundry room was nice and big. Both are open 24 hours. There was even a dog washing station for the pups. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked very clean. It’s a convenient location, only 20-25 minutes from downtown Austin. We would definitely stay here again!

We truly loved our stay at this RV park! From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming. We stayed in the newer expansion side, which had excellent amenities and a clean, modern layout. The entire park is beautifully maintained, with ongoing landscaping and a relaxing natural setting. We especially appreciated the lush vegetation, which gave it a tucked-away, peaceful feel while still being a convenient drive from the city.

It’s also incredibly pet-friendly — there are two dog parks, and plenty of space to walk our pup. The community vibe here is great, too. Our neighbors were friendly, and it felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay. Common areas were consistently clean and well taken care of.

The only heads-up: the Wi-Fi was spotty at times, so if you’re working remotely, bringing your own connection is a good idea. That said, the lighting throughout the park was just right — well-lit without being overbearing at night.

We can’t wait to come back and would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet, friendly place to stay with all the comforts of home.

It is difficult to rate this campsite since there were things that were good and things that were really bad.

Pros: Location is close to it all. The staff were friendly. The area is secured by a gate that requires a pin to enter the campsite for additional security. The perimeter is double secured by wood privacy fencing and wire fencing with barb wire for security. Lots are fairly level, and roads are pretty good. Amenities are reasonable but lack a few extra things. Pool is at the front next to all the traffic and homeless people walking by!

Cons: First, reservations for sites are odd since I reserved 3 months in advance and was not offered a better lot for a bigger rig with trees for shade. When I arrived, there were decent lots with trees and some that had older gravel and some lots that have posts way too close to the rv parking and may prevent slides/awnings from completely opening. Second, there are full timers that live there, and some people look fairly questionable. I had an old man follow us around when walking the pups, and when I turned to ask why he’s following us with binoculars, he turned away like he was bird watching. Some of these full timers were moved to the back, which appear to be clean, but the perimeter of this campsite is still surrounded by apartments and trashy areas outside the fences. Third, there are very few grass areas, and one of the dog parks at the front closest to the highway has large ditches that bring all kinds of garbage from rain into the area. We found all kinds of nasty things! Fourth, and something they can’t help, is that they are right next to a XXX store that is open 24/7 and has people in and out of there at all kinds of hours! Fifth, and something they can’t help, is that their location off of I35 frontage road is under severe construction and backed up for miles, and the only way back to the campsite is back through 20 minutes of traffic. So if you forgot something, you will have to swing back around Slaughter Lane and down the frontage road and wait for 20 minutes in traffic since they closed down to one lane for about a mile right before the campsite. Seriously, Austin has been under construction for 20 years, and it does not look like they will be done with this place for another 20 years!

I hoestly would not stay here again due to the traffic! We spent most of our time in the car returning to the campsite. Traffic in Austin starts at 0630 and dies down after 2200 hours. I forgot my wallet one day and had to wrap around and come back to the campsite at around 0930 and took me 30 minutes because of traffic and my mistake. This spot may be nice once they finish up construction, but by the looks of progress, it will not likely happen for years! It would not be so bad if there was an access road to swing around from behind, but there are no roads leading to this campsite!

The manager Maria is extremely rude, they are watching you all the time , talking to other people, they say they are living there out of necessity and not out of pleasure. they have a neighbor who has extremely loud music and everything bothers them, the grill grate kept falling over in the wind It could be dangerous if you ever use it and burn yourself with the charcoal. bad service

The staff was so very nice! We tried to call but my phone did not connect well. But because we have a credit card from the Netherlands we could not book with some parks in the earia. We decidet to just take a leap of faith.
We were not dissapointed. Everything was very clean and we had an amazing pool and even a gym with a lot of equipment that is open 24/7. Worth the money! Would come back 100%

My family loved staying here! The shower house is super clean, the pool was clean and the perfect temp, and they had a nice game room. My kids watched movies in the game room and played in the pool non stop. All of the staff is so nice! Lindsay at the front desk was great, and the groundskeeper was a cheerful friendly guy and was always busy. The grounds are lovely and there’s lots of trees. The only thing they can do to improve is add another “big kid swing” (per my kids) We will be back!

PROS: Mary at the front desk is super awesome. We had some issues when we first got there, but she was able to fix everything and make us happy. Our site was nice and shaded. We did not feel sardined in like a lot of spots are at campgrounds. We were right across from the restrooms, and I must say, they are very diligent at cleaning them and making sure they are ready for use. We appreciated that the campground was gated and made us feel safe. There was a pool and a community area with a TV, ping pong table, pool table, and DVDs for rent. There was also a small business area with a computer and printer for any of your office needs. That came in handy.

CONS: The traffic is an absolute nightmare. You will be sitting in traffic every time you need to get back to the campground, so be prepared. The person we initially had an issue with was the young lady with short hair and glasses at the front desk, I think her name was along the lines of Lyndsey. She could not be bothered with any of our issues. She definitely took the lazy approach by telling us nothing could be done, which ended up being a total lie. If you have problems, you need Mary. She gets the job done.

We were only here for one night. The weather was cold, windy, and rainy so we couldn’t really enjoy what was here. I really appreciated the fenced in large, clean pet park since we travel with two dogs. They have artificial turf inside it that’s really nice to keep the dogs clean on a rainy day.

This fantastic RV campground is mostly full-timers, and there are a lot of full timers. The lady at the desk, Sherry, said that it takes about a year on the waiting list to get a spot. We happen to get one that will be filled in a few nights, but will be able to stay here until then. Overall, it’s a really nice spot to park for a night or two. And probably if you’re going to stay long-term, it’s a good place as well. It’s essentially located to a number of different restaurants and shops. I would recommend it if you get a chance to stay short, or long-term. As the name indicates there are many pecan trees here.
I mentioned Sherry, at the desk. She’s one of the managers. Just a wonderful person who sincerely cares about the people that are here.
Summary, it’s a wonderful place with very well taken care of campsites. I highly recommend it to anybody.

Amazing place and location. If you’re looking for “rving” this isn’t the place. But if you’re looking for friendly people in the middle of Austin, this is the place. Myself and the family have been here two days and it’s amazing. This is totally a place I’d come back to. You have to make your reservations over the phone, but who cares if you have to talk to a real person and it’s not online. Enjoy it like we did.

Excellent place to stay . Mark, the manager was terrific and made us feel welcome and helped us with any minor issue we had. The location is the main draw and the proximity to downtown is amazing.

Hands down the best RV location in the entire US. Yosemite is a close second to this Hip Urban Airstream lifestyle location. Hidden Gem and if you are lucky enough to land here, DO IT!! Cycle Town Lake, Take the kids to Butler park or the central library, or the Springs! enjoy all that downtown Austin has to offer from this walk everywhere RV urban park. So blessed to make this my home for now….!!

The location is great, we were visiting family for a couple of days and were able to walk where we needed to go. The manager was very friendly and helpful. However, the place is run down and scruffy. Long-term residents are not required to keep their sites tidy, there are overgrown weeds everywhere, broken bits of concrete and the bathroom was not stocked properly. The price is high at $80 per night, and oddly they will only take cash. No wifi available.

Below is an earlier review. Sadly, the service has gone from five stars to one… or zero. We made reservations then re-confirmed only to be told when we got to Austin (500+ miles from home) that they had no record of our reservation and didn’t have any room. This also upended other activities we had planned with our grandchildren in the immediate vicinity. Very unprofessional, and it doesn’t mean anything for them to have a nice place to stay if you can’t trust their word. To borrow from The Who, we won’t get fooled again.

This place is great! It’s less than 0.2 miles from a number of restaurants and food trucks, including the famous Chuy’s and just a bit further to Zilker Park… a local favorite. We walked to Chuy’s with our dogs and got to-go tacos (which were excellent). Pecan Grove has a bath house, free WIFI and laundromat but other than that it’s pretty short on amenities, but that’s not why you stay there. Very cool r.v. community in the middle of a very cool part of Austin. If you like progressive, eclectic communities you will love this place. Rental bikes are available at the entrance and free electric scooters are near by.

Love, Love, Love this place!!! I found this place while trying to find somewhere near Lady Bird Lake to hook up our Airstream and enjoy the surrounding area. I read reviews and decided we should give it a try. We’ve stayed here twice already in less than 2 months (we couldn’t wait to come back, but spots are taken up quick and months in advance) and we couldn’t ask for a better location. It’s a quiet place, neighbors who call it home and temp visitors are very nice and friendly! We take our scooters and enjoy the ride up to Butler Metro Park where there’s scenic views of Austin’s downtown city scape. We take our dogs with us and love taking them to Auditorium Shores Dog Park, our dogs had a blast here and so did we! Restaurants, parks (including Zilker Park) all located within walking or short drive distance away from Pecan Grove RV park. Thanks to Bob for the warm hospitality!

The staff was incredible. I was attending the MotoAmerica motorcycle races. Check in was easy. Information provided was very helpful. It was my first visit to COTA but not my last. Pool was refreshing, bathrooms and showers clean. Coming from Virginia I was very tired, friendly staff, smiles and good cheer made for a great experience.

I don’t want to leave a glowing review because I don’t want more people to stay here. It too many people start staying here there won’t be room for me next year for the WEC race. Seriously it’s an awesome park and the guest facilities are super clean. The park itself is immaculate.

Our “2nd stay” here at COTA was also an awesome experience! |We attended the Stick Figure Stephen Marley,concert, and had a blast!|We stay here because the atmosphere is friendly and always attentive to your needs! There is a small store, with small stuff to purchase, and next-door is a washer and dryer to do your laundry. Next to it, are three shower stalls, (one handicap accessible) and three bathroom stalls, for men and women. We will definitely come back to stay at COTA.

I’ve now stayed three times in the “Premium RV” section with full hook-ups. The concrete pad is nice and level, plenty of room to fit a full size Class A, or even a 45 foot 5th wheel. The main downside is that these spots are designed to be pull-in, so if you decide to back your RV in, you will find that the hook-ups will be on the wrong side. This isn’t a huge deal, but kind of a bummer for those with RV’s that have a back patio that can be unfolded. You miss the ability to use that. Also, if you do choose to back-in, the hang-out side of your RV will be overlapping with the hangout side of your neighbor that decided to pull-through so it’s best to only back in if you know the people to your left, otherwise it will be awkward. The view down the back straight (between turn 11 and turn 12) is fun, but you need to get some height to see over the wall. Standing on the roof of your RV works, or if you have a truck that you can back up to the fence to stand in the back of you’re good. Otherwise you can’t really see anything from the ground. The camp offered WiFi but it was not useable at all. This may be unique to the times I’ve stayed, but I didn’t find the wireless to be in a state that I could use it.

One of the cool features is that you can bring a long coax cable and hook up to the closed circuit channels that are exclusive to the track and get them on the TVs in your RV. There are live timing channels, and the live camera feed from the track broadcast. My main complain about this part (not a camping thing) is that they don’t have coverage for all the events on the schedule for whatever reason. Only the big premier races are shown on those channels. The smaller, side-show/warm-up races are never shown there. Bummer.

The Pool is a nice feature at the end of the day after walking 10 miles in and around the track it can feel good to relax in the pool during those hot days. I would love to see a hot tub added.

The campground offers bags of ice, but only during office hours. I would love to see a system that would allow campers to buy ICE after-hours. It would also be nice to see some other camping items that people may have forgotten, or ran out of like, milk, water, sodas, ketchup, mayo, mustard, etc.. Especially water. We seem to always be running out of water.

One of my biggest gripes and the reason why I just can’t give this a 5 star review is the fact that every time I have gone (3 times) the access from the Premium RV Spots to get into the track is ridiculous. There is a nice road/sidewalk that goes under the tunnel into the track that heads over to the Paddock, but they NEVER let RV people use that entrance. They make you walk ALL the way around to the front entrance to get into the track. With all the construction going on currently and if there is a concert that is not related to the event you’re attending you may find (like we did) that there was NO safe way to get to the front entrance from the RV park even if you wanted to walk three miles. You have to uber, or hope you can fit everyone into a car. But then, expect to pay for parking! Sometimes they offer shuttles (trams) which is helpful, but not at every event. Especially the smaller events like MotoAmerica, or SRO/GT America. You’re left walking at least a mile to get into the track, then another mile to get back to your RV at the end of the day. I don’t understand why there isn’t an entrance for the RV’ers. Give the campers wrist bands or something that lets them use different entrances/exits.

Suggestions for improvement:
* Better track access
* Bleacher section for Campers to watch races
* Outdoor large format TVs for Campers to keep up with race

While not my 1st visit to COTA, it was my 1st using the RV Camping area. My rig is self contained so I didn’t need the facilities but knowing there is full bathrooms with showers, laundry and a pool was a welcome if needed. We did use the pool after a hot day of riding on the track! Jade provided exceptional explanations and along with security, very helpful providing me assistance removing a padlock from my RV after I locked my keys inside…ooof! Only advice is to check your arrival times as the Elroy gate can be closed early requiring arrival from the main gate.

Great place to stay. Track side spots. Clean, quiet (except for race cars) and the staff is awesome. I will stay again soon!

Have been wanting to visit COTA since it was built. Had the opportunity to stay at the rv park. What a great facility. Nice level paved pads with full hookups. Clean restrooms, showers and laundry. Enjoyed watching the race cars practice.

We stayed in Austin RV park for almost one week.
This is a very nice clean park. The service was great.
We had a few different issues while staying here.
When you enter this park, unless you have a very small car, you can not use the key pad to enter without getting out of your vehicle. The key pad is too close to the gate to enter the code without getting out of your vehicle to enter the code.
The laundry/ restroom is a neat, clean, tiny house. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers.
The restroom is only equipped with one beautiful shower and one toilet, which is very inconvenient when 3 or 4 people need to use the restroom at a time.
This is a beautiful RV park, very quiet , and the people are friendly.

We were surprised at how much this park felt like a little neighborhood. The sites were a good size with nice grassy areas beside and behind the sites, making it feel fresh and cozy. We especially appreciated the shade trees! While there was only a small bathhouse and laundry room, it was plenty for the size of the park, and they were well-maintained. Loved the cute little lighted walkway between the two parts of the park, with the large grassy area on the other side. Also like the coded entry gate for peace of mind. This was a great stay – so close to Austin and everything we needed.

Clean bathroom/shower. Be advised, this is the only one restroom for the park, but it was reasonably accessible.

Wish I would have read the reviews before we booked this place. We tried to cancel 4 days prior to our arrival and we were told you have to cancel 2 weeks prior in order to get your deposit back. Now we’re out of $500. We cancelled due to the reviews which like I said we should have read prior to making this reservation and the fact that they don’t have a pool.

Absolutely great place. Clean, secure, laundry on grounds, super clean shower house. Fantastic communication. We were WAY ahead of schedule for check-in due to hurricane evacuation. No issue, no additional charge for early check-in. We will definitely be back. Very fair priced. Level lots, great water pressure. Even shade trees!! Great job!!

It is a small, quiet park with mature shade trees. The sites are well maintained with weekly landscaping. The park manager, Jerry is very helpful, he welcomed me upon my arrival and has answered all my questions. As a single older woman I feel very safe in this gated park and would highly recommend it.

The park itself is nice and well maintained, but no amenities (no bench or table at each site, nor fire pit or grill) and the full timers were nice. The gate stopped working both days we stayed, so did not feel safe. Site says neighborhood working class… But… Basically it’s the ghetto with very sketchy residents/walking traffic. When the gates did work, everyone in the outer neighborhood knows the gate code and used the bathrooms and laundry facilities. The neighboring site had pressure washing starting at 7:15am. We would not return for the cost of $75/night.
