big beautiful store. Employees, as they are in over 20 Whole Food stores that I’ve been to all over the country, are very personable. So why not 5 stars? Because of some silly corporate decision that drinks would be scattered in about 15 different sections all over the stores. In smaller stores, it wasn’t as big of an issue and in my neighborhood one, I just know where everything is. This is a grocery store, not a bookstore. It’s not a good feature to have to “browse” all over the store to find the one drink you’re looking for. All grocery stores place different types of drinks in different sections but this is done to an absurd level.

This is the best Whole Foods I’ve ever visited. The store is incredibly well-organized with a smooth and efficient flow. It seems to have everything I could possibly want. The market is massive, encompassing numerous sections from fresh produce and frozen foods to a fantastic bakery. The coolest feature is the inclusion of a wine bar within the market itself. I also appreciate the ample seating areas available throughout the store and near the checkout counters.

Whole Foods is an original Austin business dating back more than 40 years. I still remember the original Whole Foods, which was right across from the 7-Eleven on Lamar and ninth Street. Since then, it has become a grocery store behemoth and gets a bad rap for prices, but when you get you get what you pay for. All the produce and meat here is very fresh, and a lot of the meat is certified to be humanely raised. A lot of their seafood is MSC certified meaning it was sustainably harvested. Their fresh food bars are excellent, and their pizza is very good, and an excellent value. I wish they carried their vegan pizza more consistently, as one of my friends often goes there just for this. Their produce is excellent and comparable to the produce at Central market. Despite being an enormous chain now it’s still retains a lot of the Austin flavor. This is their flagship store, near their corporate offices. After moving from their original store, they were briefly a block to the north and what is now REI.

WFM is a food lovers dream! I was able to purchase my favorite Yerba Mate, Clean Cause, and also the O.G. Kombucha, GT’s. The staff at 525 N. Lamar was great too!

Had a really bad experience here yesterday. The staff were incredibly rude across the board. The florist seemed very annoyed and inconvenienced that we needed an arrangement. The matcha from the columbe came out of a squeeze bottle and it was chunky, brown and tasted old. This isn’t quality matcha at all I’m kinda of surprised Whole Foods would allow a product like this to come out of their establishment.

Hello Austin & those who are visiting…it’s been a while. So I continue to find HEB is convenient to where I live & is the best store because: they have a lot of stores within a 3 to 5 mile radius.

Other than 7th street they are remodeling the store on 41st. Right now it is difficult to get through however….it is going to be so freakin large…ot might be too big. Parking may be a problem when it’s done. I have been being stalked & Traumatized by the
Management of The Ladybird Apts: & this is the reason I’ve been MIA.

Last time I checked stalking is Still A Crime & it’s a federal crime to mess with the mail.

It’s been over a month that they refuse to fix my air. It’s a 55-Up complex. One rape, & 1 unsolved murder. Everyone is afraid to say anything because: they all bare witness to what could happen. I’ve tried to file a police report but; they are well connected. It’s a “hopeless existence.”

The worst HEB I’ve ever been to. Multiple times I’ve bought things that went bad shockingly quick.

This ground beef was the final straw. $24 of ground beef that I bought on the 27th that was disgusting and bad by the 29th when I went to cook it.

In addition, if you like dodging the HEB employees that are fulfilling online orders that will gladly run you down, this is a fantastic place to shop.

If you like the TV show cops, look no further. You have about a 90% chance of seeing some stuff go down anytime you visit this location.

Hands-down, this is presently my new favorite H-E-B.

Product selection at this location took everything on my list, off my list.

Store is clean, well maintained, thoughtfully laid out, immense in size, as well as catered to all my favorite ethnic and diet restriction foods.

Staff were ALL pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, respectful, and kind. I was amazed to see that EVERY check out register, whether self service or full service, was on!

This can be a quick shop, however, best of luck with that. There is simply so much to take in with regard to choices.

And did I mention pricing? This location HAS to be one of Austin’s best kept secrets.

UPDATE: This location continues to be my favorite for my groceries, sundries, and personal items.

I had a horrible experience at my local HEB. Recently, I requested a managers to hold my shopping basket at the cashier, as I had forgotten my phone and couldn’t pay at the moment. When I returned to complete my purchase, I was shocked to discover that some of the food items had been tampered with. Several eggs were broken, and all the milk products had gone bad, likely because they weren’t kept in refrigeration.
To my dismay, when I tried one of the milk products at home, I almost got sick because it had spoiled. I confronted one of the managers to explain the situation, but instead of being helpful, she was extremely rude and aggressive. I will note her name later, as I believe it’s important for accountability. When I requested an exchange for the bad items, they refused.
Another manager initially promised to check the security cameras to see who had tampered with the food and provide an exchange if necessary. However, she quickly changed her mind and called security to have me escorted out, despite that I maintained a calm and respectful demeanor throughout the entire interaction. I simply asked her to check the cameras to clarify the situation, but she said, “It’s too late now, you need to leave.”
As a loyal customer of this HEB location, I am incredibly disappointed and frustrated with how I was treated by the management. It is unacceptable for a store to handle customer concerns in such a dismissive manner. I sincerely hope that HEB corporate addresses these issues and ensures that their managers are trained to assist customers properly, rather than forcibly removing them when things don’t go as planned.

Enourmous venue for your shopping af daily grossaries, some additional department like beauty, toys, etc but main focus on your daily needs. Vast selection and variety of fresh and preserved foods of all kinds in long hallways that seems fresh and replenished with goods. Clean enough for comfort, checkout (by yourself) is swift and efficient and parking and security outside is ample.

My favorite grocery store. We are staying in Johnson City and this store was the closest to us. I was surprised at the number of items on my list that they didn’t carry but it seemed that the store carried items based on the surrounding population. We will probably drive to New Braunfels for our next grocery run. Store was clean and well staffed.

Great Spot, Everything Walmart Doesn’t have, H E B dose. Love the set Up everyone employed at this location very friendly and Helpful. Customer Service is top notch!! The set up of the store is easy to follow, and the self Checkout is large. And always has a couple of ∆ssociate’s ready to assist you with self checkout. Highly recommend this location!! Be friendly

The Blue Bell Classic Pecan Pie Ice Cream is really good. You can actually taste the pie crust and all. The pop tarts I haven’t tried yet. The Veggie Lo Mein was really good. The fruit is always good.

This H-E-B has been here for a long time, and for a long time it was kind of going downhill. It was nice back when I was a graduate student, and I lived in this neighborhood, but that was back in the 80s. It looks like they’re making a concerted effort to improve it but because of that there’s tons of construction everywhere. In the store, in the parking lot, on the roads around the building, so it’s very difficult to get in here and parts of the store are kind of in disrepair. Hopefully won’t reopens it will be one of the nicer ones around, but for right now, I would go five minutes to the east and go to the H-E-B across I 35.

This is not only the worst HEB in the chain, but by far the worst grocery store I have ever visited.

The store is currently under construction. Instead of temporarily closing the store and rapidly completing construction, HEB has elected to terrorize its customers with a prolonged construction schedule that keeps the store open and on life support throughout the process like you holding out hope for the promotion at work that will never come.

Each time you enter, the store has been rearranged due to the construction. However, even at its “peak” before construction, the store was a disaster. Items are often out of stock or inexplicably placed next to totally related items. Carts are all over the parking lot. The check-out area feeds directly into the store entrance, creating a constant battle of people try to enter and exit from the same small set of doors at the same time. Currently, the interior of the store looks like a bad haunted house, with empty coolers, plastic sheeting and caution tape strewn about.

If you are unlucky enough to live in central Texas, you know that HEB holds a near-virtual monopoly on the grocery store business. What I wouldn’t give for a clean, well-organized Publix. I’d even settle for a Kroger. But NO – we must suffer with HEB and its stranglehold on central Texas. If only Ken Paxton would investigate something useful, like this.

The ONE saving grace of this store is Jorge, so is often hovering around the self-checkouts handing out bags and showing off that he does squats twice a day, if you know what I mean.

I love HEB but I’m sorry, I do not like the new renovation here at all. I understand they may have needed to expand, but the old Hyde Park HEB was cute with the little market/cafe area, and the new one is laid out so bizarrely. It feels like it encourages way too much foot traffic in some areas of the store, leading to clogged parts like the produce section or meat/cheese area. Then, other parts of the store barely have anyone, like the middle section with the seasonal aisles and greeting cards. The shopping carts are a pain to find and I just don’t enjoy shopping with the layout here.

As always, though, employees are friendly, things are well-stocked, and it’s the HEB I know and love.

Gabriela at the seafood counter is amazing! Very attentive and kind towards customer request.

This HEB is also great. It has most of what the Mueller HEB doesn’t, so I come here more often. It is under construction so the placement is different from usual right now, but I still prefer it!

Huge selection from Latin American to Asian staples. The layout is a bit confusing to adjust to after the construction adding a lot of space to the store but maybe I’m just not used to it yet. Highly would recommend using the app so you know where to look for things! Never had a problem with it. The mini food court there is really good too.

Even though this location is currently under exterior renovations, it’s set up very clean and well organized inside. Also, the staff is super freaking friendly and helpful! There’s a young man in the express checkout register near the produce who is so kind to remember me and always gives genuine compliments about my cologne. It’s always just the little things that can make someone’s day! You never know what someone else is going through and oftentimes it’s easiest to just be kind to one another.

This is a really nice stocked supermarket with so many different types of groceries. A really good produce and fruit selection. A huge bakery section with endless breads, rolls cakes, pastries and so much more. Fresh seafood such as crabs and shrimps.

Truly saddening this franchise isn’t in New Mexico state. However, maybe if enough people write a letter to the owners things might change. This store sells all the things that remind me of my youth in Panama and the Caribbean side of NYC.

Pepe’s Kitchen is fantastic! The tacos de papa, pupusas, and aguas frescas were delicious. Leticia was kind and super attentive.

Great bakery, big selection of produce, international products, fresh meat and fish counter, household products, it has just about everything except furniture . Hispanic oriented. Also has a taqueria.
Store is easily accessible from the highway I-35. It’s huge. I love to shop there!

I feel I like prices here may be a bit higher than I other places like Walmart, or HEB. BUT they do have a wayyyy larger variety of products you won’t find anywhere also. They sell products from a lot of countries, so it’s convenient if this is what you’re looking for. I went in midday on a Saturday at the place was chill except for the cafeteria they have by the entrance. They had a very long line waiting to grab an affordable plate from their menu. Knew I had to see what all the fuss was about. The options they had looked good and tasted great! I chose the mojarra frita, came with rice and veggies or beans, for only $8.99! Best deal in town! Highly recommend this grocery store, a lot of options if you want to expand your palate.

I visited Central Market recently and was genuinely impressed. Everything felt incredibly fresh and well-organized, which made shopping there such a pleasant experience.

They carry a lot of premium products that you don’t usually find at a regular H-E-B, which I really appreciated. I loved the freshly baked sourdough they were making right on the spot, and the wine selection was surprisingly diverse. The cheese section was also amazing—tons of variety, and one of the friendly staff members even offered us a tasting when we couldn’t decide. Thanks to that, we found a really delicious cheese to bring home.

Overall, it was such a fun and satisfying visit. I’ll definitely be going back!

Food is great if you want something nice and light. They experiment with alot of flavors so it’s always neat to try their seasonal foods. They also have a nice seating area outside which is perfect during live performances.

Central Market is one of the best grocery stores in Austin. It is a higher end division of H-E-B that specializes in produce, and hard to find foods. Their produce section is fantastic, and the sheer array of different types of apples, citrus, fruits, vegetables, and even mushrooms that you’ll never find any place else is very impressive. They’ve got a smoothie stand, and have fresh gelato as well as coffee and tea. Their cheese selection is amazing and so is there meat and seafood. Their deli has a lot of excellent fresh selections, and a salad bar, which is just so so. They also have pre-prepared meals in the refrigerator near the salad bar, which are complete with entrées and sides and are really good. They have several different types of fresh ground Nut butters in the bulk section. Inside the restaurant, grocery store is a restaurant that has excellent meals, and occasionally has live music. Central Market specializes in interesting foods that are difficult to find so if you were looking for something that you can’t find elsewhere, Central Market is a good start. And their floral department Has an impressive array of different types of flowers.

Definitely what representative of what you’d expect from a fancy grocery store. A plethora of select organic and fresh foods, all for more expensive prices, but works for me when I need to go to a grocery store in the area. All the produce is organized very well, and there’s a wide range of fruits and vegetables you might not find at other stores. However, I was hoping to get some Chinese eggplant and was disappointed there was only regular and baby eggplants. I do find the Gelato there very delicious though! I like to get a pint for $7.

Doesn’t have my favorite ginger beer, only their overpriced central market brand.
Got fresh 5 dollar red currets yesterday and then spoiled the next day.

Ironically, you know it is an inconvience for people with valid complaints to follow up with your manipulative marketing tactics. You are only giving me resources (through an automatic response) because you don’t want other people to see your store as a place that sells products that can’t last a single day in a fridge.

I love this location and I have to give a special about out to Janet. She was incredibly kind and genuinely caring such a sweetheart! I mentioned I wasn’t feeling my best after a night out and she took the time to recommend something that turned out to be exactly what I needed. Now only did it make my morning, but she also introduced me to what’s now one of my favorite new drinks. Her warmth and attentiveness truly made my day.

I had a wonderful experience at Trader Joe’s this morning thanks to an employee named Pat. While I was shopping, I discovered my car battery had died. Pat noticed I was looking for help and kindly offered to jump my car. He was incredibly kind, calm, and helpful throughout the whole situation—and even made sure my ice cream was kept frozen while everything was happening!

Pat truly went above and beyond. I’m so grateful for his help and kindness. This kind of service is exactly why I love Trader Joe’s!

I can’t get enough of Trader Joe’s. It’s my go-to grocery store in Austin. It has everything I need and more. The store is always spotless and well-stocked and ready to shop. I never have to worry about finding what I want or waiting in long lines.

The prices are reasonable and the quality is superb. The produce is super fresh and the wine selection is impressive. I always find something new and exciting to try, from Gingerbread Ice Cream to Olive Fougasse. The staff is courteous and helpful. They always greet me with a smile and offer suggestions or samples.

Trader Joe’s has won me over with its passion for quality and variety. I hope you have the same experience as me when you try them. You won’t regret it!

Trader Joe’s is my favorite place to shop! I have so many great memories here, which is why I keep coming back. I once received free flowers, and every time I need assistance, there’s always someone eager to help. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, and the prices are incredibly affordable. I’m always amazed by how much I can get for such a reasonable bill at the end of my shopping trip!

I do enjoy going to Trader Joe’s but there is an employee who always seems to be rude and is a manager. His name is Paul and every time I’ve come in contact with me he is very rude to me. When I go to this Trader Joe’s it makes me uncomfortable when he is there. It’s sad because I love Trader Joe’s but he is making my experience not so great because he gives me a dirty look for no reason. I’ve alway been kind to him but he just isn’t to me.

Terrific store! So many wonderful items and great prices! Fresh groceries; unique snacks; coffee; drinks; groceries of all kinds! Beautiful flowers and plants! Friendly staff; helpful and courteous. I can’t express how much I love Trader Joe’s. I’m writing this review to give a special shoutout to Tisha.

While browsing the flower section, I picked up flowers that Tisha was organizing but ended up putting it back. Later, while I was in the wine section, Tisha came over and told me that she gets to choose a customer to gift flowers to — and she wanted to give them to me. It was such a thoughtful gesture and truly made my day.

Been going here since I moved to Austin in the 80s. It still has very much the same vibe and is a great local coop. The store is not huge, but they have most of what you would need, with a lot of local Austin flair. The peanut soup is fantastic.

I think its trying hard to catch up to its sister property in south Austin. This place still feels like it took over a space that used to be a Walgreens or something. Plus it seems that they don’t stock as consistently as the other store (sushi, e.g.) BUT. They have most of what you’d find at the other store and because of that they are a top tier organic option for groceries, with a hot food bar and salad bar, grab and go items, and other staples that can complete a healthy shopping trip. The breakfast tacos are bomb too.

what really stood out was the vegan barbacoa taco with a dozen fresh toppings practically and they wrapped between 2 tacos then aluminum foil around the taco. i like the vegan hotbar sandwich too. i’d go back 2 times a week for the vegan tacos.

The manager, Emily, was so nice! This place really supports their community!

A staple for healthy and organic foods here on Guadalupe St for as long as I can remember and, long before Whole Foods, Central Market and Sprouts set up shop. It is still my go to for healthy grocery shopping and for their hot food kitchen/ hot food bar.
There is a story going round that this original location will be closing its door for good next year. This is both true and false; the Guadalupe location will be closing because Austin is widening Guadalupe for a new light rail route. However, a new North-Central location of Wheatsville will be opening to take the place of the soon-to-be-closed store. Watch this space.

Their vegan donuts are the best donuts I’ve ever had. So fluffy & soft. We drove 2.5 hours to get these donuts & it was worth it. Thank you!! Made my daughters whole week!

Also love that they let their employees wear what they like & be themselves. They all looked happy & were so kind. That’s how it should be.

The selection was great with decent prices. Some things were overpriced. They had a large vegan selection. The worker was not very polite. The bathrooms could have been cleaner.

Really bad about having expired food on the shelves!

I’ve shopped here for years – nice little grocery store and much less crowded and therefore more convenient than heb. However, I’ve noticed time and time again, they will have expired food on the shelves whether its by a few days or even weeks. Today was the last straw for me when I picked up a pack of lunch meat and it was TWO MONTHS expired. As someone who’s worked retail before, I can tell you employees are supposed to go through all of the food on the shelves when it’s time to restock and throw out anything thats expired. How did this pack of meat make it two months without being thrown out?! You guys need to work on this!

I use to love this place but after seeing that one of your employees is posting inappropriate post towards Charlie Kirk’s assasination not anymore. Its really sad to see that person employed by you is posting those inappropriate content just for having different political beliefs. I will not be returning to any randalls store anymore.

Standing in a very very long line at the only open register while I count the employees not doing anything. Nine! Nine employees doing something other than checking customers, at least five of which are just laughing and talking with each other. What a mess.

Most expensive grocery store I have ever been to. 12 pack of soda was $12 as opposed to only $6 at HEB. The ice cream we love cost $8 at Randall’s as opposed to only $5 at HEB and the same brand of butter cost about 30% more. I’m never coming back here again, I simply cannot afford it. And yes, I have a Rewards Club card and I still paid twice as much. Ridiculous. Inflation is one thing, but this is simply taking advantage of the shoppers. Do yourself a favor, go to the nearest H-E-B even if it’s an extra mile or two. The amount of money you will save is going to be more than worth the extra 5-minute drive. Oh, and if that wasn’t bad enough, I was accosted by three different homeless people on this visit today: one on the way into the store and two on the way out, all begging for money. As if I hadn’t given away all my money already! Apparently management doesn’t care about prices or the safety of their patrons. Total fail on multiple fronts.

It is a great place for a quick trip. It has all the essentials plus a little more, and the variety is good. No sushi though.

Easy Access. Homeless Corner. Stuffed with great choices. Mother’s Day Arrangements, Hot & Cold huge Variety. Elegant Baked Goods. Christmas or Holiday Only for me.

This place is like if a mini mart got accepted into an Ivy League school, studied abroad in Italy, and came back wearing Warby Parkers and Birkenstocks with holes through the bottom.

You walk in expecting a dusty corner store and instead BAM — curated cheese, and kombucha judging you from the fridge. Need gluten-free kale chips? They got you. Need a bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and a Pinot Grigio for your hotel meltdown? Also got you.

Coffee? Fresh and hipster-approved. Hygiene items? Yes, because sometimes you forget your toothpaste and deodorant when you black out packing for a work trip.
The aesthetic is “old-school general store goes to SoHo,” and honestly, it works.

4/5 would buy $25 worth of trail mix and diet tonic water again.

I came in the other day and ended up chilling to wait the storm out. Felicity and Nix were so kind. Downtown is downtown. Of course there are going to be interesting folk wandering in. I just saw a couple of reviews talking about that. Austin Texas has to have one of the craziest down town areas ever. I think it’s awesome that Royal Blue employees have such a great attitude dealing with that all day. I honestly don’t know how they do it so I was impressed. I love the little cooler section with mini cheese and eggs. It’s a cute little space. Oh I forgot, I bought this adorable mini Nutella. I love the mini items there.

A true “convenience” store. I stopped in for an energy drink and Liquid IV which they had both. Also a deli/cafe. A little of everything with quality products. Very friendly staff

I bought this food in royal blue, and the rice is raw as if they just threw it from the bag onto the plate, I got sick, it gave me pain, don’t buy that, it’s expensive and they don’t cook it well, and it’s not the first time…

I loved this place! Places like this make me wish I lived in Austin at times because there is nothing like this where I live. They are open till 12 AM, and have mostly healthy snacks and food. They even have toiletries and such. If you are staying near here it’s the perfect place to go and get quick snacks or drinks. I hope the workers actually get the tips though because they ask for that and I did tip!

Over $8 for a king size Reese’s and small bag of lays potato chips. 8 something! Then when you pay you are asked if you want to tip. It gets old feeling like you are being ripped off! It’s a food desert around the store so they charge what they want.
