So lets start with WOW! It is all 5+ stars. So what is not to like….. hummmm….. well… nothing. It is seriously all good. This is a great chain via the Papas brothers, any location will be a great dining experience. The ambiance is always great. Service is perfect. You feel cared for, not overbearing. The food is so very good. The shrimp and crawfish fondue appetizer is a rich delicious blend of full size shrimp and crawfish with a heavenly sauce with spinach and mushrooms. The garlic bread is flavored with butter cheese and red pepper flakes. Yum! It is so very sharable.
Now to the main course. I love great shrimp etouffee and this is a great one. Side of scallops is the perfect add on. Try 2 blackened and 2 seared!
You want an great meal bring your friends and come hungry. Savor the freshness and the flavors.
The wait staff are charming, professional, dressed to the nines in
B/W with bow ties and appear magically seem to appear whenever you need them. They make every effort to make your dining experience grand from the outside terrace with water farm ture and outside dining to inside luxury. Not kidding..
Travel, be adventurous, love and enjoy!

We came here during lunch time on a weekday. We were walk in’s and I loved the atmosphere (thought it was super cute). The waiters were super nice and checked in with us constantly. My husband got the shrimp gumbo, I got the fried mix, and we got the calamari plus oysters to share. My mother in law recommended this place and always comes here when she visits Texas. Highly recommend coming here if you are visiting Texas.

Our son took us to Pappadeaux off Research Blvd in Austin on Sunday for dinner. This was our first time at Pappadeaux, although our son had been to several different locations many times. It was busy when we got there, but it is a large restaurant, and we were seated right away. There were four of us, so we asked for a booth, and we were given a corner booth with plenty of room to spread out. Our server, Bryan, was very friendly, helpful, and attentive.

Since it was mine and my wife’s first time, our son went a little overboard in ordering appetizers so we could try a variety of dishes. We got the Crispy Alligator, Fried Calamari and Octopus, and a dozen Raw Oysters. Wow, we loved it all! The large pieces of alligator were tender with a crispy breading, and it came with a very good Creole dipping sauce. The calamari were just as good. We got the medium size for both, which was plenty to share around the table. The oysters were fresh and tasted great. So far, so good!

I told our server that I had wanted some shrimp and grits, but it is only on the lunch menu. He went back and talked with the kitchen and told me that they would be happy to make me shrimp and grits. So, I got the Grilled Shrimp & Grits off the lunch menu. There were eight perfectly grilled shrimp on a bed of creamy cheese grits with andouille & sweet corn. This was a great sized portion and one of the best shrimp and grits that I have ever gotten. My wife got the medium portion of Fried Shrimp with French fries. There were at least 15 or 16 nice-sized shrimp that were butterflied and lightly breaded and fried. The fries were not as hot as my wife preferred, and our server quickly got her some fresh hot fries. The manager brought the fries out and apologized. If you like fried shrimp, get this dish! My son and his girlfriend got the Fruit de Mer and a cup of “Louisiana” Seafood Gumbo to share. They loved it! Just look at the photo of the gumbo….it was as good as it looks!

We had a great meal at Pappadeaux and can’t wait to go back and try more items on their menu. If you love fresh seafood and dishes made from scratch, I highly recommend that you stop by Pappadeaux and give them a try!

After another day of exhausting but rewarding internships at Synopsys, I decided to reward myself with some delicious guilt-fried seafood at Cherry Creek Catfish on Menchaca Road. The moment I stepped in, the cozy, lived-in charm of the place hit me—a classic Texan diner vibe with red leather booths, neon beer signs, ceiling fans spinning lazily, and a wall decorated with vintage posters and fishing memorabilia. It’s the kind of joint where time slows down and conversation flows easily.

I ordered the fried shrimp and catfish combo, which arrived on a blue plate piled high with golden, crispy pieces that still somehow managed to be light and tender inside. Underneath hid a bed of thick-cut fries, and the meal was rounded out with creamy coleslaw, beans, ranch, and a zesty cocktail sauce. It was indulgent but satisfying—comfort food done right. The beans in particular surprised me with their smoky flavor, and the slaw added just the right amount of cool contrast.

Condiment options were generous, with a full caddy of hot sauces and other essentials on every table. The service was warm, the portions generous, and the whole experience left me full and happy. Cherry Creek Catfish knows what it does best—and does it without pretense.

Had the lunch special, tried the onion rings, mac& cheese and fried cheese cake. Everything was delicious except the mac & cheese. It tasted like out of the box. Idk I expected a more homemade thick style of Mac & Cheese, but that’s just me. We had a party of 3 and total came out to around $60 bucks which isn’t pretty bad, IMO for appetizer, lunch, and dessert. Catfish tenders were pretty big. Must try the jalapeño tarter sauce if you want a spicy kick to the meal! Wish they had margaritas, only serves beer.

I have always loved this place. We live north, so we dont get here often enough. I met up with a dear friend of mine, and we had a great enjoyable time talking. The waitress laughed at my jokes, a good thing. The catfish was extraordinary and in the picture. You don’t see them, but there’s 3 Hush Puppies down in there, and they are really, really good. The onion rings were a side dish, and they were very good. My buddy had a fish plate with a couple of sides, and yeah, he really enjoyed it. He also got the peach cobbler with ice cream on it, and I gotta bite. It was really good. It’s got a unique interior decoration. The chairs are good, solid, and kind of like home tables that a lot of our group had growing up.
It’s just absolutely fantastic. They don’t have a buffet, but they do have on the catfish and the shrimp, where you could pick six, ten, or twelve pieces. I just had six, and I was stuffed. It was great..

Food was alright. Chocolate pie was the best thing I had, though it was half frozen when I got it. Wasn’t the most authentic fried catfish and friend shrimp I’ve ever had, but I’m from the gulf coast where I’m used to very good options. If you have a hankering for fried catfish, it’ll do, but definitely not as crispy as I’d hope. The fried shrimp was butterflied, no crispy whatsoever and had much to be desired. I would probably pass on that in the future. Fries and chips were fine, nothing special. Also, expect a nearly $4 “packaging fee” if you’re taking to go (apologies for the halfway eaten picture)

My husband and his brother can EAT, but tonight we went here and they both had to get a to-go box. The portion sizes here are awesome and the food rocks. The sides are awesome too. Also, I had the chicken tenders and the size of those tenders and the amount of food… I don’t think for $12.50 you can get more food anywhere else. The service was really good and friendly, the food came out fast, overall the vibes in here are good.

Love this place! Great food and service! It’s a local, neighborhood-type restaurant. Fried shrimp and catfish is excellent! The sides (pinto beans, green beans, fried okra, hush puppies, etc.) are also excellent. It’s an older place in an older strip center. They typically play old country music as background music. We frequent this place at least weekly.

If you’ve never had Deckhands you in for a true treat.
Food portions are large which is a win in my book. But the flavors of literally EVERYTHING on the menu are Freaking FANTASTIC!
The fried platters are always cooked perfectly and have a true unique flavor. Their Asian infusion throughout the options standout in the best of ways!

Ive tried multiple plates and have yet to have a single bad bite across the options.
I could eat here once a week and never get burned out!

*I’ve been to both locations but the one on South Lamar has changed owners and the name is now Ocean Blue. So you’re best bet is the Deckhands up north off Louis Henna.

It was kind of loud. Lots of people sitting at the bar. I had a really pleasant and informative waitress. The pad Thai had a good flavor, just enough food, not too much or too little. Good prices on both bottle and draft beer.

Sat outside even though it was a bit hot. The waitress told us it was quite noisy inside. Service was pretty good. The food was tasty and the ice tea was plentiful. Caution if ordering the fried rice: The portion is enormous. You’d best be hungry or have 2-3 friends to share.

Deckhand Oyster Bar is a must-visit for fresh, flavorful seafood in Austin! The service is super friendly and welcoming, which made our experience even better. We ordered the huge raw oysters plate—fresh and perfectly chilled—along with a rich cup of seafood gumbo, steamed shrimp, crispy calamari, and golden hush puppies. Everything was delicious! Surprisingly, the buffalo bone-in wings were a standout too—packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat. Great food, great vibe—we’ll definitely be back!

First time visiting and service was cool the environment was nice, happy people enjoying food.

In my opinion the food was a NO GO! Everything I ordered was unseasoned, no touch of soul was added at any point.
Oyster’s was decent I give it a 5 .
My waitress was kind and helpful.

Don’t recommend if you like, love seasoned food

Hands down the best Pad Thai I’ve ever eaten. And I’ve eaten that at many places. Balancing sweetness with spice is a difficult thing to do. Deckhand does it just right. The crawfish had a distinctive asian flavor. Come to find, the owners are Korean. Very flavorful.

5 stars all around! We came here to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. The food was so good, every bite was delicious and all the flavors were so well balanced and thoughtful. On top of the food being amazing, our server Gianna was an absolute gem! She was very knowledgeable about the menu including food and drinks, and her personality was charming and bubbly. The food and service here is top notch! We shared the tuna tartare and crab cake appetizers. Both were fresh and delicious. My entree was the Chilean sea bass. So light and delicate with a broth so tasty I wanted to drink it! My family ordered steaks, the mashed potatoes and crab fried rice. Our server was friendly, funny and attentive. Highly recommend!

Held my birthday dinner here. Booking the space and selecting the preselect menu was super easy thanks to Jo. The room and table placement was perfect for my party of 18. I loved that I was able to see and talked to all my guest without having to move from my spot. The old fashions were tasty and the food was exceptional. Thank you to our servers Matthew and another gentleman for the excellent service and attention. Definitely a top tier experience!

We had an amazing experience at Eddie V’s on Saturday! Our group of eight sat in the bar area, and from start to finish, everything was outstanding. The food was absolutely fantastic—perfectly prepared and delicious—but what really set the evening apart was the exceptional service. It was, without a doubt, some of the best I’ve received in Austin. Our server, Miguel, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure every detail was just right.

To top it all off, the live music by Kenny Williams was phenomenal. He created the perfect vibe for the night and truly elevated the entire dining experience. Eddie V’s delivered on every level—great food, amazing service, and unforgettable music. Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Austin!

Amazing birthday experience!!!! We went for my birthday although it was not noted in the reservations, upon arrival they asked if it was any special occasion and they were told that it was my birthday. I’m glad they did because the experience was beyond expectations thanks to our server Gianna. She was very attentive and had such a great energy. The food and drinks were sooo good and of course we could not finish everything. This was my first visit but I’ll definitely be a repeat customer. If you can ask for Gianna !!!

An old dog can still learn new tricks (or perform existing tricks perfectly)! As a native Austinite, Eddie V’s has always been known to me as an Austin institution. This restaurant has been here a long time but did not feel outdated when we brought family here from out of state to celebrate a special occasion.

Ambience – Although this restaurant has been here a long time, the inside did not feel too dated. No weird “old building” smells or noticeable furniture/flatware/glass wear and tear. White table cloths are classic, the mood lighting and music was nice and not too overwhelming. This meal was an upscale, fine dining experience – the restaurant is relatively quiet and they give you a lovely lemon scented towel to clean your hands. This is an old school luxe dining experience that is not offered very often in Downtown Austin anymore. It’s a nice change of pace from other high end restaurants downtown that are super casual. Also, this restaurant has larger circular tables which seat 6 adults perfectly. Surprisingly this table size is kinda hard to come by at upscale restaurants nowadays, which seem to be set up for date nights (2) or larger groups (8-10).

Service – we were delighted when we arrived at our table and there was a card and confetti celebrating our special occasion! Such a cute little touch that makes me want to return for more special days. Our waitress was amazing, smiley and chatty and knowledgeable. We will request her next time we dine here for sure. Pacing of the plates was perfect, they never left dirty dishes on our table and accommodated every request. She even brought out a free dessert to celebrate our special occasion.

Food – we ordered the seafood tower but probably would skip next time, plenty for 6 adults but not mind blowing or interesting at all, just classic lobster, oyster & shrimp. I enjoyed my fish entree, it was tasty but not cravable. However, the steaks were fantastic and definitely worth returning for. Finally the dessert completely blew my mind, I’m not a huge dessert person but I went crazy for all the desserts we ordered. I can’t wait to return for more of the bananas foster, so memorable and tasty.

We have eight hair several times and absolutely love it. We took our family there for a celebration dinner last week. they always have a great variety of oysters and yummy. The cocktails are spot on the tuna tostadas are our favorite. My son had the lobster pasta, which was very tasty and a huge portion, my daughter had the cheeseburger and my husband had a warm lobster roll. Great service, the servers help each other out and i love that! we sat outside and the covered dining area, which was awesome because the mosquitoes did not get my husband, but the ambience is so fun and it just has a cool vibe about it!!!!! We went to Perla’s Oyster Bar and the place itself is nice, with a good atmosphere. Our server Paige B did a wonderful job checking on us and giving great service.

I ordered the Fish and Chips and my wife had the Sea Bass a la Plancha. The food looked good on the plate, but the taste just wasn’t there. My fish didn’t have the flavor I’ve had at other seafood spots, and my wife’s dish had a fishy taste she didn’t enjoy. For the cost, I expected better taste and quality.

We spent about $107 with tip, and honestly, it wasn’t worth it. The portions weren’t very filling, and we actually ended up going to Pluckers afterward because I was still hungry. We only had water, so if you order drinks here, the bill will be even higher.

The restaurant was packed, but it seemed like most people were there for the drinks and the social scene more than the food. It’s a nice place, but I can’t recommend it because I love good-tasting food, and this just didn’t deliver.

We LOVED Perla’s! My boyfriend and I did brunch while staying for a quick weekend getaway. The staff, the food, the ambiance blew us away. Upon sitting down, we were greeted with a sweet happy anniversary card from the staff. Our server was so friendly and great with his recommendations.
The oysters were chefs kiss. As an east coast girlie, it’s hard to find fresh and quality oysters in Texas.. and these did not disappoint!
The crab omelet was delectable and perfect blend of flavors. The lobster roll was just as good as some of the best spots in Boston. The Strawberry tart was a perfect sweet ending to a wonderful meal.
12/10. Will be back for sure!

Wow! Our first experience at Perla’s and look forward to our next. Food was excellent, the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with making selections including the types of oysters to select, mains and best sides right down to the wine selection. Denise made our evening a success! It’s a little loud but a fun place to be.

The parking garage is great. It’s behind the restaurant down an alley of W Gibson Street. Don’t pay upon arrival even tho the signs will stress you out. When you get in the restaurant they have a device on the counter with validation for 2 hours of parking. Just make sure you have your license plate number.

The restaurant is great. Higher end seafood ambiance. Part of the outdoor seating is screened. They have nice lighting and beautiful trees. Gabby knew her wines and helped me pick a Chardonnay with both oak and butter notes. They were able to accommodate gluten and dairy allergies. Confirmed it upon delivery. They have a Cotes du Rhône Grenache that my friend is a fan of. If you love Grenache the Cotes du Rhône region has a nice spicy herbal dry taste. The sea bass had crispy skin and tasted amazing. The peppers were sometimes spicy. All on top of hummus decoratively placed. My friend enjoyed the scallops and the calamari appetizer. Thank you for a nice experience.

We went to Perla’s on S. Congress for a spur of the moment Sunday brunch and had a great time! The weather was just right, people were out and about, a few had their friendly pups with them so we opted for the outside deck seating. We had a couple of oyster shooters, the fried Okra, shells and cheese and the fried soft shell crab. The best dishes had to be the shells and cheese (velvety, luscious cheese goodness with a buttery, crunchy, bread crumb topping) and the soft shell crab (large, meaty and juicy in Avery good way). The sauce enjoyed the al fresco meal while people watching as they streamed past on the sidewalk. It was a good day and we highly recommend!

Food, drinks and atmosphere great as always at Perla’s on SoCo. But on a hot summer day for a late brunch my waitress let my water glass stay empty for far too long without attention. The oysters were so fresh and flavorful. Made my day!

Haven’t been to the Catfish Parlour in a long time. The atmosphere is cozy with classic music (50s) playing in the background, old photos from the good ole days, and pleasant staff

The blackened red fish with crab and crawfish was cooked perfectly. The catfish plate was great too.

Our server was humorous, professional, cool

Looking forward to coming back! ❤️

Visited during lunch on a Wednesday with a party of three. Our server, Riley, was super attentive and friendly.

As always, the hush puppies and tarter sauce were on point.

I ordered the Lite Catfish plate with fries and pinto beans. The catfish was crisp. The fries are coated, and while they were nicely cooked, I am not a fan, personally. The pinto beans were good. I also ordered fried oysters. They were unremarkable, and atad on the small side.

I ordered the bread pudding for dessert. It is not overly sweet, and very light. My companion ordered the blackberry cobbler and liked it very much.

Before tip, the bill was $92, so a bit pricey.

So I ordered through Uber eats. I did a pick up order and there was a promo for buy one get one free on the all American plate combo which was amazing. I got four plates for 33 bucks. The food was delicious. I got two spicy catfish plates w popcorn shrimp and 3 sides and two original plates. The catfish was really good. As was the popcorn shrimp. Cooked perfectly. Our sides were hush puppies, fries, green beans and bacon, Black Eyed Peas and coleslaw. The coleslaw had a different taste more of a vinegar salad, but that was also Good and their sauces are incredible. The atmosphere was very family and friendly very welcoming. Maybe next time we eat there we’ll dine in and the staff were awesome. Very friendly and welcoming.

Came here for lunch with a co-worker. I’ve always wanted to check this place out. The menu they have is incredibly confusing. Chef Ramsey would have a heart attack. The server was very demanding on what we wanted to order. I was seriously confused by that menu and everything says dinner. I finally just said country fried steak hoping they had it. They did. Our waitress was attentive took our orders and brought us hush puppies. They were actually pretty good. Never tried them before. No lie the country fried steak had a good presentation but it was crap. So chewy couldn’t even swallow it. Terrible. Overall a real gross experience. Some place out of the 80’s. Lol, doubt I’ll ever return there.

Pricey for the amount of food. Mac n cheese could’ve been more seasoned. Loved that they gave us free hush puppy sticks though. The bread pudding was my favorite item. Great service and homey atmosphere.

This review will speak for those from Louisiana/Mississippi. My fiancé and I are from the hearts of seafood so we walked in with high expectations, naturally. We tried the crawfish because why not, let’s see what’s up! It was so boring. The crawfish are boiled in water that is NOT seasoned. Only the outside of the crawfish were seasoned. While the outside of the crawfish was flavorful, I shouldn’t have to put the whole crawfish in my mouth for some flavor. To add, it was $12 a pound!

The catfish was good! Wasn’t the best but definitely normal flavoring for fried catfish! My fiance says his side of fried okra was one of the best he’s ever had. My mashed potatoes and gravy and Mac and cheese lacked flavor. The portion sizes for sides are literally an ice cream scooper size. This place was really busy, and we couldn’t and still don’t see why.

I love this restaurant, I’ve been eating here for years. But I hadn’t been in a couple years, so I was excited to have my favorite old standbys the coleslaw and the pinto beans and the hush puppies. But this time I tried something new and it really really good! I had the fish and chips instead of the fried catfish and the white fish and the batter used in the fish and chips dish was just fantastic. Now I can’t decide if I want to get the fried catfish next time or get the fish and chips plate again, they’re both so good!

Y’all are missing out. Fredas is very good. It’s pretty much a seafood and steak place but on Sunday. They have an excellent brunch with made to order eggs, including omelettes and made to order french toast along with many different seafood and breakfast types of items. Overall was very good. The servers were very attentive. Everybody was super friendly and seemed to be happy to be there..

Freda’s Seafood in Austin is a total gem — especially if you’re looking for a high-quality lunch spot with great value. Their lunch specials are generous and delicious, making it easy to enjoy fresh seafood without breaking the bank.

The clams were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared — a real standout for seafood lovers. The drinks and beer selection were equally impressive, with refreshing cocktails and a solid variety of local brews to choose from.

If you’re heading there, do yourself a favor and order the paella — rich, flavorful, and packed with perfectly cooked seafood. It’s easily one of the best in town.

The atmosphere is upbeat & happy if you’re sitting at the bar with Quincey. She’s the smart bartender/waitress. The crab legs here really hit the spot. They are quality. You get what you pay for. The restaurant has a cute outdoor area. The vibe is a little old school, but that’s okay.
Try taking your TIME at their happy hour & ordering some of their GREAT FOOD!!!

I had a wonderful experience at this seafood restaurant. My drink was absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced and refreshing. The appetizers were tasty and well-prepared, and the main course did not disappoint either. Everything was cooked just right and full of flavor. On top of that, the service was excellent. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We went here on a Friday Evening for dinner. I called at 6pm and was able to make a reservation for 7pm. We arrived a little early and expected to wait in the bar area but they seated us right away. Our server was very attentive. Brought us our drinks and took our starter order quickly. We got the spinach artichoke dip and my husband ordered the gumbo. The dip was good and the chips were freshly fried tortilla chips. My husband said the gumbo was ok. He gets this everywhere we go and compares them all.
We ordered our dinners; I got the pecan crusted tilapia which was amazing! Not fishy tasting at all. The green pesto creme on top was flavorful. I took half of my fish home for leftovers but didn’t eat it until Monday, still tasted amazing!
My husband ordered the fried seafood platter. He was not a fan of the crab stuffed mushrooms but I liked them. The matchstick fries were crispy just like he likes them!
Our total bill was over $100 but with that we got drinks, starters and dinner with some leftovers for another day. Totally worth it in my book! We hadn’t been here in several years and I have to say it’s still a wonderful experience! Oh, and they had someone playing a piano and/or bass singing in the bar area. Which was a nice add to our dinner. Great place for a romantic evening with your loved one!

I took my husband here for his birthday and it was nice. Very dim lighted, however and definitely more of a fancy romantic vibe going on. The food was a little pricey for our taste. I got the shrimp scampi, which was very different flavored than I’ve ever had before but surprisingly good.
My husband got the lobster and he didn’t complain which means it was probably really really good because he never compliments any food and when I asked him if he liked it, he actually said YES and not “it was all right”.
Of course the husband likes to have beer with his meal and it wasn’t overpriced when I thought it probably would’ve been for as fancy of a little place as it seemed to be. That was so that was nice to not have to pay an outrageous amount for a beer.
I’m sure in the future will probably go back sometime to take family or friends if they come to visit, but not as to stay frequent place to eat only because of the pricing.

We showed up an hour early to our reservation on accident and the host sat us anyways and was so nice to us! They surprised us with an anniversary card and rose petals on the table. Our server even got us black napkins to match our outfit so we wouldn’t get white fluff from the white napkins on our dresses. We felt like royalty the whole dining experience. We had a three course meal and everything was a 10/10 I’m very honest when it comes to the food but everything we got had flavor and the prime rib melted in my mouth! They made our anniversary extra special. And the live music brought a nice ambience. They gave us an off menu baked Alaska for dessert special for our anniversary. Definitely coming back for special occasions!

Great atmosphere and service, the best part of our dinner was the lobster bisque!!! Hands down one of the best ever. my husband and I both had the redfish ponchotrain and we’re a little disappointed. The fish seemed overcooked and the rice that it comes with was not the best a little dry, but my son got the ribeye and he thought it was cooked perfect and we had creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as our sides and they were yummy. The Grey Goose martinis with homemade stuffed blue cheese olives were perfect and we had a very nice bottle of wine.

First-time visitors, now forever fans! We’ve been wanting to visit Garbo’s to support our dear friend who works here, and we’re so glad we finally made it—our only regret is not coming sooner.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was kind and attentive. Our server, Mitchell, gave great recs, and the bartender made our drinks perfectly. We sat outside and loved it—sunny, breezy, and relaxing.

We ordered:
• Clam chowder
• Fresh salads
• Oysters
• Mini lobster rolls (a must-try)
• Fried shrimp
• Ice cream for dessert

Everything was high quality and well-prepared. We were also impressed to see the owner actively involved on the floor, supporting the team—such a great sign of a well-run restaurant.

For two people, our total (+ tip) was around $150, and it was absolutely worth it for the experience, service, and top-tier food. Shout out to Anna, Heidi, Caesar and the others who made our dinner so lovely!

Highly recommend Garbo’s—whether you’re a local or just visiting, this place is a gem!

Authentic New England Heaven on Mopac!
This is truly great, what I can only imagine as authentic New England-style seafood in Austin. Garbo’s on Mopac is an absolute treasure, and my recent visit was nothing short of a 10/10 experience. We tried a bit of everything, and each dish was more impressive than the last.

Here’s the breakdown of our fantastic meal:
* Smoked Fish Dip: We started with this, and it was the perfect introduction. It was creamy, perfectly smoky without being overpowering, and clearly made with high-quality fish. Served with crackers, it was a delicious and addictive appetizer that set a high bar for the rest of the meal.
* Lobster Bisque: Simply divine. This is how lobster bisque is supposed to be. It was velvety smooth, incredibly rich, and had a deep, savory lobster flavor that warmed you to the core. Most importantly, it was loaded with generous, sweet chunks of actual lobster meat. I could have had a whole meal of just this.
* Mac and Cheese Sticks: Pure, decadent genius. These were fried to a perfect golden brown, offering a satisfying crunch on the outside. The inside was a molten river of ultra-creamy, cheesy macaroni. It’s the ultimate comfort food elevated to a new level.
* Lobster Rolls: The main event, and they did not disappoint! We had to try both the Maine style (chilled, with a touch of mayo) and the Connecticut style (warm, drenched in butter) and their seasonal hatch chilli lobster roll . You honestly cannot go wrong with either. The lobster meat was unbelievably fresh, sweet, and piled high on a perfectly toasted and buttery roll. This is the real deal—it instantly transports you to a seaside shack on the East Coast.
* Fish and Chips: Even a classic dish like this was executed flawlessly. The fish was flaky, moist, and tender, encased in a light, impossibly crispy batter that wasn’t a bit greasy. The accompanying fries were seasoned perfectly and were the ideal companion.
* Oysters: my wife is an oyster fanatic, this is the 1st time she’s been offered a variety of choices. She decided to go with 2 different styles and she was really impressed. For the 1st time, she tried an oyster without including the lemon and was simply impressed by the fresh quality. We cannot wait to return.
Everything about our visit was top-notch, from the quality of the ingredients to the friendly service. Garbo’s is a gem, and they are knocking it out of the park. This is hands-down my new go-to for seafood in Austin. An enthusiastic and well-deserved 5 stars! We received the best service from Barclay. We can’t say enough about the experience she provided. We felt like we were being served by family!

Really enjoyed our visit! The weather was nice enough in the evening to sit on the patio. We visited since they had a new playground for our toddler and it did not disappoint, although it’s probably better for 3yrs and up. They gave him complimentary goldfish that kept him at the table a bit longer than most times we go out to eat.

Food was good! Bread for the fish sandwich, crab and grilled cheese were all different and ALL great! Sauces were too. Definitely will be a go-to place for us when we want a family-friendly outing.

Garbo’s is known for their New England-style lobster. We usually get the lobster rolls when we go, but this time we tried the whole lobster (1 for $40 or 2 for $65) with a side of toast (8/10). It was a cool experience and very fresh. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts (5/10) — they were a bit cold and tasted burnt; and the fried calamari (6/10). The food is overall good especially if you’re craving lobster or lobster rolls.

The vibes are laid-back and coastal and they also have a nice outdoor patio. Will definitely return to try something else on the menu.

I had the lobster special that ends on Labor Day, two boiled 1 1/2 lb lobsters. It was delicious! Bruce, the waiter, provided excellent service! I moved here in 1990, from New England and it is great to be able to get, excellent, East coast seafood without having to get on a plane.

I’ve been to Garbo’s several times and honestly, I really enjoy the place. The atmosphere is great, and Carlos, our server, has always been incredibly attentive—service is consistently top-notch.

That said, my main issue with the restaurant is the pricing. For such a casual spot, it feels excessively expensive, especially considering the portion sizes. The fried calamari were very small: definitely not a shareable appetizer, which is usually expected for that type of dish. The smoked fish dip was delicious, though I do wish the bread had been toasted a bit more to balance out the texture.

They also have an outdoor park area, which is great if you’re coming with kids or spending time with family.

Overall, great lobster rolls and a great place with great service but the value could be improved.

You know that feeling when you get something so good you’re still thinking about it the next day. You’re at work and your mind starts wandering and realize you’ve glazed over and you’re daydreaming about the night before? Garbos is like that except, they’ll still respect you in the morning and you can tell your coworkers all about it. The lobster roll trio is to die for. This time around was the seasonal hatch chili roll. Whoa mama. They’ve got outstanding New Hampshire fresh oysters. Even the burger is top knotch.

This location has a large, open, free parking lot. Calm atmosphere, a fully stocked bar that also has a decent wine selection. The food was okay. I ordered the garlic shrimp platter. My green beans and broccoli were served cold. The garlic bread was hard but the shrimp was really good. The shrimp diablos were good but when they say topped with grilled onions, they meant buried in grilled onions. They were good though. The waitress was polite and attentive. The atmosphere was overall calm with decent music playing.

Trash food, trash service. First red flag should’ve been how empty it was on a Thursday evening. Then waited a while before we were even greeted and seated. Ordered a seafood boil with crawfish, shrimp, potatoes, corn, sausage and eggs. Crawfish was super small and wasn’t coming out of the shell easy. Paid $11.99 per lb and ordered 2lbs. Shrimp was shell and head on; not fresh at all, had an off taste and shell wasn’t coming off easy either. Both were obviously overcooked. Menu stated $17.99 for a dozen shrimp but paid $18.99. All that came with 4 small red potatoes, 4 half of a half of corn on the cob, no sausage even though we ordered it and never got it and was still trying to be charged for it. $1.50 per side included 2 pieces of each side. And 3 eggs that were $2 each. When I informed our waitress we didn’t receive our sausage she stated she didn’t make it the cook did and she’ll let him know. Never accused her for us not getting it or she was the one that made it, was just informing her so she could get it. Waited awhile and still no sausage so asked her how long it takes to make it she said she doesn’t know she’s waiting for it just as much as I am. Smh I didn’t know she was paying for it or eating it too (she wasn’t, sarcasm for her response). To end this experience, me and my kids ended up with bad stomach aches afterwards and you know what comes with that. So overall, definitely don’t recommend whatsoever.

Hands down the best gumbo in town! The staff is always friendly, the drinks are priced just right, and the whole place has that perfect neighborhood restaurant vibe. The new pool tables are a great touch—I love coming here.

Ocean Blue Oyster Bar is in the same location as the previous restaurant, “Deckhand.” As I looked at the menu, I noticed many similarities to Deckhand, and I said as much to our server. She replied, “This IS Deckhand!” I didn’t ask further, and my friend and I ordered our lunches. This restaurant is a mix of fresh seafood, some prepared with an Asian flair. They offer grilled, broiled and fried seafood, together with specialty dishes that are more Asian fusion in flavor and style. My friend particularly likes a good curry, so she ordered a yellow curry and I ordered the Swamp curry with shrimp. This curry is a combo of green and red curry. Both were very authentic curries and very good. Most of the extensive menu offers a great variety of seafood, and from previous experiences at Deckhand, I have always had dependably good , and sometimes excellent, seafood. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and we received attentive service. Amazingly in these times of increasing prices, their prices are very reasonable and well worth the money. I will definitely be back.

Calamari was good with great flavor. We ordered the seafood boil spicy but really should of ordered extra spicy. The shrimp is not by the pound but the snow crab is. The shrimp cocktail is made with small frozen shrimp which don’t absorb the great flavor of the cocktail. I had the Tokyo oysters which were good.

Great seafood! I loved the raw oysters!
The crawfish were good but the flavour could have been better in my opinion. The gumbo was average.

Overall very nice meal if you are feeling some seafood.

They have Thai food too! Will come back to try some of those dishes!

I used to love the Tom Yum Seafood soup served by Deckhand & was told it was the same so I gave it a try. It was delicious & filled with seafood. I didn’t give 5 stars for the food because the spring rolls were tasty but seemed to only have shrimp & lots of lettuce. No rice noodles or carrots which I think would’ve added to the flavor. I got my food to go & the lady at the front was very nice & made me feel welcomed. I will be back.
