Dean’s was the perfect place for my birthday dinner and Lexie was a wonderful server expertly crafting our whole experience! We enjoyed everything from Lobster Bisque and Caesar Salad to the Barrel Cut Filet and Short Rib Gnocchi. Drinks and atmosphere were also top-notch. Highly recommend!

Impeccable dining experience.
Came in on a whim due to there being a big parade shutting down majority of the area and was so delighted with my visit.
I was served by TJ (I sat at the bar since I was solo dining), he was very attentive, gave awesome menu recommendations and overall was a pleasure to be served by.
I wound up ordering the scallops. I’m a huge scallop girl and my test for scallops to see if they’re cooked correctly, is that I should be able to slice through them with a fork with no issues. My fork glided straight through each one. The scallops were sweet, savory, surrounded by a delicious cream sauce & cooked to perfection.
Highly recommend for a beautiful dining experience. 10/10 would recommend!

What really set Dean’s apart was the perfect balance of bold, hearty flavors and refined presentation. Each bite was a celebration whether it was the tender, juicy ribeye, the fresh seafood specials, or the decadent desserts that closed the meal on a high note.
From start to finish, Dean’s made the whole dining experience feel special and memorable. Whether it’s a date night, a celebration, or just treating yourself, this place hits every note perfectly. I left already dreaming about my next visit! 12/10

Very pretty interior and amazing service from the first moment. Our waitress, Gabby, was extremely welcoming and provided information and recommendations based on what we liked. Every choice was perfect. The cocktails, starters, mains and sides were timed so we weren’t rushed or waiting. Try the bread pudding….try it!!

Ariana was spectacular unparallel service.
I was extremely disappointed with the main dish of Bucatini. It should be in the description as lemon pasta, lemon, didn’t really taste the truffles. Traded it in for a shrimp cocktail, a much better choice.
I WOULD RECOMMEND

My wife and I had dinner here today. The wagyu meatballs, short rib gnocchi, pork tomahawk and bread were so delicious. The beet salad was also very good but we wish it would have had much more beets. The lady that was our server gave us outstanding service. Our drinks were also very good.

I had an incredible experience at Dean’s Italian Steakhouse! Our server, Auya, was absolutely amazing—easily one of the best servers I’ve ever had. She was super nice, funny, professional, and completely on top of everything throughout the night. She made the whole dinner experience feel effortless and enjoyable, and her energy really stood out.
The food was excellent as well. The bone marrow was rich and flavorful, and the Wagyu was cooked perfectly. Everything we ordered was delicious, but what made the evening truly memorable was the outstanding service from Auya. She elevated the entire experience and made it one of the best dining nights I’ve had in a long time.
Highly recommend Dean’s if you’re looking for great food and phenomenal service!

Maggiano’s never disappoints! The atmosphere feels warm and classic, and the food is served family-style with portions that are generous enough to share. We ordered several dishes to split, and everything came out fresh and flavorful.
The appetizers like the fried calamari and meatballs in marinara were standouts, and the Caesar salad was crisp and well dressed. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu, cheesecake with strawberries, and butter cookies, each one tasted homemade and was the perfect sweet ending.
Service was attentive without being rushed, and our server made sure drinks and bread were always refilled. It’s a great spot whether you’re with family, on a date, or celebrating with friends. If you’re looking for hearty Italian food with a lively, welcoming vibe, Maggiano’s is the place.

It was a phenomenal dinner. Our server (Scottie) was friendly and made sure we felt welcome and informed. The food was perfection and came out so fast! The portions were huge! We topped things off with a tiramisu and I now have a new favorite dessert. We also got the birthday cookies and our server made it a very sweet moment. Over all a very lovely visit & I will definitely be returning!

First time here on 9/6/2025. Date night! Easy access. Free parking within 50 yards. 6:45p reservation. We were a little early but got seated right away. Zucchini fritti as appetizer. Salads. My sweetheart had lasagna. I chose fettuccine Alfredo with chicken very generous portions. Take home was equivalent to what we ate at the table. Reasonable prices. Service was very attentive without being obtrusive. We will do another Date Night here again.

Eclectic chick Italian restaurant with good food and good vibes services.
The food was good , however they missed 1 of the dishes so we all waited for it to arrive to start eating. The taste is very good however I was expecting much more.
Salmon a bit over cooked
With broccoli but came with spinach, no I’m sorry we ran out of.

Everything is wonderfully done at this place! The 44$ experience is more than worth it for bread, salad, 3 different choices of appetizers, 4 different entrees, and 3 different desserts! The atmosphere so elegant that many even host their wedding reception there. I went in a group of 14 and the waiters did an amazing job! Shout out to Veronica for being so polite and helping us handle a rough birthday cake situation.
Also I recommend the wagyu stuffed shells!! 10/10 🙂

Absolutely incredible as always!
As a former New Yorker turned Texan, THIS IS THE BEST ltalian food I’ve had in Austin. It’s like, hey … is that Tony Soprano sitting in the booth behind us… type of Italian food.
Although I was there celebrating Mother’s Day with my siblings and parents, I could not help but think what a great place this would be for a private party or function.
I am a cheesecake lover.
Cheesecake snob.
Best cheesecake ever
The Veal Parmesan was INCREDIBLE!
See photo below I took a photo, then another and another.. to share with all of you… because it was truly a spectacular evening and you should have one too!
Many thanks to Joe Baker, Food and Beverage Mgr, for the impeccable service. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

.
We ordered three things: cheese ravioli, fiorentina chicken pizza, and the lunette modo mio. To start, the ravioli wasn’t too flavorful or flashy and lacked a sharpness to it that makes ravioli so appealing. My least favorite item.
The pizza was ok, the sauce was the highlight and the breading was good as well. Not amazing, just good. Lastly, we enjoyed the Lunette and our pasta was warm as though it had been prepared earlier for someone else instead of hot and fresh for our party.
Overall, the environment was excellent and the service was nice. Our servers were knowledgeable and friendly and the outside seating area was lively and fun to eat at.
Definitely worth taking a group of friends – it’s a good place to spend time after a meal.

First time visiting. We were a little thrown off having to stand and view a menu then order prior to being seated.
The service was friendly and very prompt. We were given focaccia bread and seasoned oil right after sitting down. Then our appetizer came out at the same time as our meal which made the experience feel very rushed. From ordering to sitting, it probably only took like 10 minutes for our order to arrive. You can tell they don’t want you lingering.
I fell in love with the dipping oil for the bread. The seasoning mix was heavenly and bread was very soft with a nice crust.
I wasn’t expecting much from the food bc it came out so fast but it really surprised me. The fettuccine Alfredo was perfectly done. Very simple traditional style with the best fettuccine pasta I’ve had. The chicken parmesan was excellent. The breading was light and crisp and the chicken breast was cooked nicely. The marinara sauce was fresh and flavorful. I really appreciate simple ingredients done well and they do a great job of that. The calamari zucchini fritte was a great appetizer. The breading was well seasoned, the zucchini was sliced thin. I loved that the calamari included rings and tentacles. They were small and perfectly bite sized which made them great for dipping in that delicious marinara sauce.
I recommend not sitting under the AC vents. The condensation was dripping on us throughout the meal and I didn’t really like the idea of it getting into our food.
The atmosphere feels charming and rustic. I really love how simple and straight forward everything was.
We made sure to pick up some sweet treats to take home. We would definitely go back when we’re in the area again. I’m looking forward to exploring more of the menu and trying the gelato.

MARLENI I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude for the outstanding hospitality you provided during our first visit. I am ecstatic. This restaurant was exceptional. Although we encountered a brief wait during the busy lunch period, the food was consistently fresh and delicious. I will certainly make it a point to visit this establishment again when I return to Austin.

Mandala’s is a local Austin chain of Italian restaurants. I think this one might be the original, but I’m not sure. Mandala has a combination of pastas, salads, pizzas, and appetizers, as well as a full dessert, bar with gelato and cakes. There’s also a bar, but I don’t see too many people there very often, I just think people come to demand was to eat primarily. This one has a really nice outdoor seating area, even in the winter when it’s cold they have gas heaters that make it tolerable. The times that it’s not so tolerable are in the middle of summer and there’s nothing they can do to really cool it down but when the weather is decent, it’s a great option. Their pizzas are OK, the pot is excellent, as are the salads. They have a daily special, and it’s always the same. In other words, every Friday is shrimp scampi. The desserts and gelato are also excellent. They have a serve bread and olive oil, which is really good, and you can ask for more if you want more.

My favorite dish is their fettuccine with grilled chicken and prosciutto with peas and mushrooms. It has a homemade taste. I tried their kids pepperoni pizza this time and I enjoyed it. I also like to combine their lemonade and sweet tea as my go to drink.

As soon as you enter, you place your order at the counter before being seated. The service is impressively quick—orders come out fast and efficiently. We dined in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary bread to start.
The minestrone soup was flavorful and packed with vegetables, which our family thoroughly enjoyed. The eggplant parmesan, Garlic fries, vegetable panini, and salad were all tasty and well-seasoned. However, I found the vegetable panini a bit too buttery—the sandwich could benefit from being less greasy for better balance.
One area for improvement would be post-service attention; once the food is served, it would be nice if servers checked in to ensure everything is satisfactory. Enhancing that aspect would significantly elevate the dining experience.
They also have a charming coffee bar with desserts and a nice variety of cookies. Overall, we had a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

Mandola’s consistently delivers a great dining experience. I’ve tried several dishes, and each one has been enjoyable. The service is excellent, with friendly staff. The ordering process is straightforward at the registers. The new bar area is a nice addition, and the gelato station is a highlight, offering samples of all their delicious flavors. With ample seating both inside and out, Mandola’s is a reliable choice for any meal.

The atmosphere was lively and the service was excellent. Our server was super kind and attentive. It was a bit noisy, but still fine for conversation. Our table in particular was a bit too close to the next one. It was not too bad, but a little uncomfortable.
The Red Snapper Crudo was great, but both the Bone Marrow & Mushroom Risotto and the Agnolotti pasta were too salty for us. Overall, great service and vibe, though the food wasn’t quite to our taste.

Wow—how has Red Ash been open in Austin for nine years and we just made it there? We celebrated my 45th birthday tonight, and it was truly unforgettable. Amanda took such great care of us—her warmth, passion, and attention to detail made the experience even more special.
We kicked things off with the crunchy bread, margaritas, and the bone marrow—all highly recommended. The bone marrow alone is worth the visit: rich, buttery, and enough to share with four people. For our mains, we split the blue crab pasta (absolutely dreamy and exactly what I wanted for my birthday) and the steak, which was flawless—truly melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
To top it all off, Amanda surprised us with dessert—a decadent chocolate cake that sealed the night perfectly.
We eat out a lot in Austin and rarely feel wowed anymore, but Red Ash completely exceeded our expectations. It’s hands down one of the best dining experiences in the city. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation. We already can’t wait to go back.

My wife and I made a New Year’s resolution to eat at all the Michelin star restaurants in Austin in 2025. We have been to each of them and they are all amazing and worth the trip. Red Ash Italia was as good if not better than all of them. We had the bone marrow starter, I had a beef short rib special and my wife had the pasta with blue crab. We added a bottle of wine and we had the donuts for desert. Everything was perfect. We sat at the bar and the service was impeccable.
This place deserves a Michelin star as much or more Than anywhere else and I hope they get it. I’m about to make reservations for a return trip and we can’t wait.

We absolutely love and adore this restaurant. Any time we can get a reservation here (which is SO HARD sometimes), we jump at the opportunity. The food is fantastic, and the service is immaculate. We love when there is an off menu special since they always knock it out of the park. Truly not a thing that they don’t do well here. The vibes are also great inside the restaurant as well, super clean and comfortable.

Takes months to get a reservation but some things are worth the wait. And this is one of those things especially if you want to celebrate a special occasion. A lot of restaurants in austin have amazing food but Red Ash not only has amazing food but really makes special occasions special. I loved the birthday card that everyone signed and the complimentary dessert with a candle. Kevin took care of us and he’s absolutely wonderful. He really made my night. His recommendations were spot on- he recommended the frutti di mare, the scallops with risotto on special last night, the hot chocolate cake, and the white wine pairing he recommended was perfection. the frutti di mare was phenomenal- a little heavy on the salt and spice but only a pinch but the pasta and seafood were cooked perfectly and loaded with high quality seafood. Scallops Risotto also a tad heavy on salt but again scallops cooked to perfection and so was the creamy risotto. Great flavor profile. I will dream about that hot chocolate cake for the rest of my life. It’s one of the best desserts I’ve ever had in my life. Their pastry chef is phenomenal. We also ordered a dirty gin martini and you can tell they hand stuffed those high quality olives with high quality blue cheese. We were here one other time and loved the octopus appetizer- I was skeptical about the beans but it was wonderful and it’s another dish I highly recommend. We also had the burrata and tomatoes, the hot bread, and the truffle pasta which were all good. If you’re looking for a restaurant to spend a special occasion at, this is the place. I’m already looking forward to our next visit

Wow. Amazing service, fantastic atmosphere, well designed menu, and perfect execution. I can see why this place holds such a special place for so many people and why it’s so hard to get a reservation here! Well… it’s very very much worth getting a reservation. The pasta, the meatballs, the tiramisu, the burrata… all of it was amazing. Also they happen to have one of the best wine lists in the city. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone. You must try it at-least once.

Finally ticked this off the list after 7 years living in Austin, and hearing from natives and others how awesome it is… well they were right and I shouldn’t have waited! Definitely atop the best 3 restaurants in Austin for all around dining experience and execution. Delectable steak, pasta, apps, sides, drinks and dessert. Had no idea how scrumptious squash blossoms are.

Brunch a Juliet Italian Kitchen was wonderful. The drinks were top notch, in particular I really enjoyed the Juliet Old Fashioned. The food was delicious, but I do question the naming of the 17 layer lasagna. While I’m sure it had 17 layers it was a shorter stack than expected. Nevertheless, it was a great lasagna. The atmosphere was great and the brunch menu prices were reasonable.

Stopped in for brunch and a little Sunday catch-up work, and left with a full belly and an even fuller heart! Everything was incredible—from the food to the service. Aaron, our bartender, was so attentive and welcoming, and Emily, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Truly a wonderful experience! Definitely will be back!

Get reservations…if not you can eat at the out door patio. ADA wheelchair accessible. Dog friendly outdoor dining. Very friendly staff. Our server was the greatest. Great drinks and mocktails. Delicious dinners. The start salad was deliciously dressed. The only wrinkle was the hostess telling us when we entered that they needed our table in a hour and a half for another reservation so felt rushed…ADA wheelchair accessible.

Had a great time here for my birthday dinner with friends! I made a reservation on open table which was also very easy. They have complimentary valet parking which is amazing in this area. I had the butterfly spritz, shrimp scampi and complimentary birthday tiramisu which was incredible! The staff were all lovely and so accommodating of gluten free and vegan dietary restrictions in our party. Also the prices were so reasonable for the quality of everything. Would definitely go back for another nice occasion!

North Italia consistently delivers a delightful dining experience. The menu features a range of classic Italian dishes prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Their pasta is particularly noteworthy, cooked to a perfect al dente texture. This is a great spot for a relaxed and enjoyable meal, offering a well-rounded selection. Fresh pasta and a comfortable atmosphere are hallmarks.
The service is generally attentive and friendly, contributing to the overall positive impression. While the price point is a bit higher than some casual eateries, the quality of the food and the attentive service justify the expense. It’s a solid choice for a special occasion or when you’re seeking a truly satisfying Italian meal. Excellent ambiance.

Stopped in for some appetizers while on a little road trip.
We had the calamari and Arancini. They are both served with an aioli and both are different and delightful in their own respects. I used both on each of the apps. The calamari comes with a little arugula salad on the plate and if you dont like heat. Don’t eat it. However, I loooooved it.
We also ordered the panna cotta for dessert. We were brought the most splendid spoon imaginable. It had a pleasant mouth feel, and as a neurodivergent individual, the mouth feel of a spoon is important when consuming a plate meant to ensnare the senses. I could not be more in love with it. As our server said, “That one is yummers” which i loved and told her I may be stealing that phrase, then she followed up with “Its a one way ticket to yumville, for sure”. It had a topping of fruit which I enjoyed but hubby said it didnt need it. I have to say its good with or without it but I must also note that having the fruit adds an extra layer of complexity that really elevates it.

Every North Italia I’ve visited, I’ve loved, and this location is no different. This location is in walking distance of the library and a few other places. I enjoyed everything I ordered, and tried the asparagus for the first time (which is also good). I prefer north Italia over the super “fancy” Italian places I’ve had. I’ve had their calamari, different pastas and pizza, everything spot on. The service is also really good too and each staff member is great!

Delicious food!! Such a beautiful atmosphere, and the service is amazing! Our server, Roan, was so kind, friendly, and recommended to me great dishes! I had the Key Lime Pie cocktail – it truly tasted just like a key lime pie, and it was super strong (great value!!) For my entree, I had the seared scallops, and it was such a wonderful meal. The scallops were perfectly tender and paired with the sweet corn risotto and the fried scallops so well My partner got the Seared Short Ribs and they were DELICIOUSSSSS! Lastly, for dessert, we had the Hazelnut Torta. It was crunchy, light, sweet but not too sweet, and overall a perfect dessert! Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area – this will be our go-to Italian restaurant from now on! Huge thank you to Roan for taking such good care of our huge table and for being so kind, accomodating, and for your recommendations! You turned a 10/10 experience into a 1000/10 one!

Celebrated my friend’s birthday here and it’s a good experience. We just walk-in without reservation and got seated immediately. The food was good. Calamari and the shrimp scampi are good as well as the chicken pesto ✨ Although we didn’t like the pizza that we got i think it’s just too salty tbh. But overall, good dinner and happy tummy

Celebrated a birthday here and the table included a card! This was our first time here and the food was AMAZING. We started with the calamari which was lightly fried yet delicious. Our entrees included the Risotto with waygu, which was delicious, the Tagliatelle with a creamy, truffle sauce and the Pappardelle bolognese. All were flavored perfectly and the risotto was worth the wait as they make it to order. We then shared a lovely tiramisu. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the Austin area.

Great food and service! Vespaio had a card sitting on our table in celebration of our recent marriage! The card was signed by staff members, and was a special touch to the level of hospitality. Food was incredible, and atmosphere was wonderful but it’s very dark/dim.

It was our first time out to Vespaio with my husband and his parents. His parents birthday was the occasion (yes, both of them, a year apart!) and when we arrived there were birthday cards for them on the table signed by all the staff working there. It was such a lovely unique surprise! Our waiter was very enthusiastic and friendly. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and helped us decide on what to order. The food was excellent too! I ordered the lasagna and everyone else got pizzas. They gave us dessert on the house too for it being a birthday celebration! I will definitely be coming back with my own parents when they are in town. I definitely recommend this place for a special occasion with people you love!

It was our first time at Vespaio, mine and my husband’s.. we found this place on a whim because I was craving shrimp pasta and their Grilled Shrimp Scampi didn’t disappoint!! We got burrata for appetizer and finished it off with a Hot Honey Pizza that was to die for! They were accommodating to our request of having it made without pork sausage and it still didn’t take away from the flavor!!! It almost made me wish I was an Austin resident to be able to have it more often Great food, great place and what an amazing service! The attention to serve you, knowledgeable staff to guide you, loved everything about it! Can’t wait to visit again soon ❤️

I don’t know… maybe it’s just sentimental. I first came here about 10 years ago, walking down South Congress with my then-boyfriend (now husband ) when the most amazing smell drifted out the door. We ended up coming three times in 24 hours. Since then, every trip to ATX, this has been our spot.
Every time, I get a little nervous that I’ve built it up too much in my head, but each time it’s even better than I remember .
This place feels like home, warmth and love. Please try it. Wiley & Tom in the bar make the best drinks! Service, food, everything is a 10 out of 10!
Prosciutto pizza is a must!! I experiment on the pasta and each time it’s amazing!

What a cool place. Totally in the spirit of Austin, this place has so much character and individuality. The food is absolutely to die for.
The scenery is great – go at sunset for perfect lighting. You can tell everyone here is having a great time. There are lots of people who bring their dogs, which is awesome 🙂
I haven’t investigated it yet but I guess there is a theater too, on certain nights. Very cool, had a great time.

Amazing. Get the garlic bread, and the tiramisu. The pasta was also amazing – I got the vodka sauce pasta with honey chicken. It was delicious. I would definitely go again. The vibes are also really nice 🙂 outdoor seating only but it’s very cute.

Their Carbonara Alexandra and Lemon Thyme were delicious. Meatball at the size “tennis ball” were true to size. Friendly and helpful ordering made it a breeze. Once your order is ready, their staff will bring out the food by locating you. You can dine outdoors, or indoors at the courtesy of the Butterfly bar within the same courtyard. Just let the Patrizi’s staff know of your seating location for a smooth experience.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this but this was the best pasta I’ve ever had. Amazinggggg I got the cacio e Pepe and added pancetta and it was so good. My boyfriend got the red sauce with a meatball (yes it’s only one but it’s huge) and he loved it as well. The garlic bread is a MUST! The service was great, that was our first time and a lovely gentleman took the time to explain how it worked and gave us recommendations. The wait can be long but we happened to go on a slower night. Also the weather was very nice so I can’t really speak on what it would be like pn a hut summer day. Overall, amazing experience and will definitely be back.

I had an exceptional dining experience at Patrizi’s! The ambiance was inviting, with beautiful outdoor seating. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, recommending the perfect dishes. The five different types of pasta we tried were all cooked to perfection, each with its own unique flavor profile. The house salad was fresh and crisp, and the roasted beets were a delightful side. The garlic bread was to die for – crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. Everything reminded me of the best pasta I had in Rome. I highly recommend Patrizi’s for a truly authentic Italian dining experience

I was so excited to try this place but it was so disappointing. It’s one of the worst pasta’s I’ve had in Austin. The pasta was so stale and didn’t even taste as good. It was so dry and lacked sauce.
Even the bruschetta was not that good. The trivia was the only fun part of our evening!

What an incredible spot! The salads, pasta, and pizza were absolutely amazing—truly authentic flavors that reminded me of my travels through Italy. It’s rare to find such genuine Italian taste in the U.S., but this place nails it. The service was outstanding: friendly, fast, and attentive. The ambience and style also perfectly captured that warm, authentic Italian vibe. I’d highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Austin area looking for a real taste of Italy!

Great Italian food, drinks and great service. We had the Prosciutto di Parma con Bufalo Mozzarella, Taglieri de la Casa, Spaghettial All’Amatriciana and the Penne Boscaiola. Every thing was perfect although I did recommend the prosciutto be served with roasted red peppers. Our bartender Brandon was EXCELLENT! Very personable and as tourist from Boston, by the way which has no shortage of great Italian restaurants, Brandon was very helpful offering lots of suggestions on what to do in Austin. GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT ATMOSPHERE!

We didn’t have to wait long to be seated. We got a table inside. The waiter was nice, but due to the noise level, it was difficult to hear him, especially since there was a language barrier. We got the Rustica and Cacio E Pepe. The pizza was good. The crust was very light and tasty. Unfortunately, the pasta wasn’t very good. It was undercooked and didn’t have enough salt. It’s as if they didn’t cook it long enough to be al dente and absorb the salt. The place is small so the tables were very close together. Due to the small space, it was uncomfortably warm, and that’s coming from someone who’s usually cold everywhere we go.

Tried the bunch menu item truffle and egg pizza. Crisp thin crust pizza with salty savory mozzarella. Lightly fried egg plopped in the middle to make it a “brunch” dish, not seasoned at all but it was nice to dip the crust in the runny yolk. There was only a ring of the truffle cream, wished it was incorporated into the entire pizza. Fresh basil was very much present. Overall above average pizza that satisfies the pizza craving. Perfect portion for one person, not too heavy on the stomach.

I go to il brutto at least once a month for the past year and love to bring new friends here for the best aperitivo / happy hour in town. Food wise, my favorite items currently on the menu are the burrata pizza, cozze, bottarga + sea urchin pasta, and their house made sorbetto. However, I’m most impressed with their drink menu, including one of the most beautiful vermouth selections I’ve ever seen!! I like to sit at the bar; Liz, Juan, Jay, and Adan have always treated us with the utmost care, provide heavenly drink pairing recommendations, and really know their vermouth. Also, join their new vermouth club!

Ticks all the boxes for a great upscale modern Italian restaurant. Delicious drinks – loved the tiny tinis. Highly recommend the happy hour! Frequently Asked Questions about Italian Restaurants in Austin
What defines an authentic Italian restaurant?
Defining authenticity in Italian restaurants can be tricky. It usually involves a commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes passed down through generations. It’s not just about the food; it often includes a focus on atmosphere and service that reflects Italian culture. Many prioritize regional specialties over standardized dishes, focusing on the food of a specific area of Italy.
Are there many Italian restaurants in Austin?
Yes, there are a significant number of Italian restaurants in Austin, catering to a wide range of tastes and budgets. You can find everything from casual pizzerias to upscale trattorias. The sheer number of options means it's relatively easy to find a place that fits your desired experience. Expect diverse menus influenced by Italian-American and modern culinary trends as well.
How do I find the best pizza place?
Finding the "best pizza place" is subjective, but several things to look for include the type of crust—Neapolitan, New York, or Roman—and the quality of the ingredients. Many places advertise their use of imported Italian flour or San Marzano tomatoes. Read online reviews and consider what crust styles you personally prefer. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different places.
What's the difference between a trattoria and an osteria?
While often used interchangeably, there's a subtle difference. A trattoria is typically a family-run restaurant offering simple, traditional dishes, often with a relaxed atmosphere. An osteria is generally even more casual, often serving a limited menu focused on regional specialties and often featuring local wine. Both usually emphasize a welcoming environment.
What are some popular pasta dishes to try?
