This was our first visit to Sangam, brought by a friend. The staff here are so prompt, friendly and attentive, and the food comes out quickly even during a busy lunch rush. The dosas are all large, fresh, crispy, sour and delicious, as were all the chutneys included. The Fish 65 was light and delicious and flavorful, and the Chettinad Curry was a perfect spice level with lots of flavor. The lime soda and orange ginger soda were both a perfect refreshing summer drink. Will definitely return and look forward to trying many other menu items.

Just a fantastic spot, had this amazing 3 juice drink non alcohol. Got 3 different dishes unfortunately I can’t name them lol. Garlic naan was fantastic too. Great atmosphere with nice decorations hanging from the ceiling. 1 and only complaint was this door they kept going in and out of to serve outside guests was close to my booth, and it kept slamming and vibrating my seat.

Place is super packed at lunch and dinner during the weekends. Not sure how it is during the week.

I had a wonderful experience at Sangam Chettinad today. The food was authentic, flavorful, and served fresh. The ambiance felt warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special gatherings.

A special mention to Shiva, who is very welcoming and ensures every guest feels comfortable. The staff are equally kind, and provide excellent service with a smile.
Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great South Indian food

Let me start off by say it was 16,000 reviews. It’s going to be 16,001 now because this place is awesome.

I haven’t had a chance to have much Indian food lately, so I’ve been eating at a lot of places like curry, kitchen Star of India but Indian breakfast is something different.

Start off by the establishment is huge and beautiful with well decorated design and the layout with the bar in the middle of the large sections makes it ideal to keep a flow consistent between the parties having fun.

Starting off after sitting down we saw the most adorable robot. This thing was weekend and smiling handling food like a champ.

The menu after taking a look and hearing the suggestions from the staff, I decided to go with the combination breakfast. The Mrs. Got the pori ghee dosa.

Oh and then we added this onion dosa as well. It was really really something I just I had before and I just really liked it. Had another place. Boy I’m glad I got it

So long story short, I didn’t even pick up my utensils. I grabbed my hands and I dug in. Everything was delicious. Oh yeah and everything’s vegetarian so don’t forget that. But it didn’t matter. It’s just place rocks.

Each chutney was good for their own types of dipping.

My favorite breakfast item on the combo plate was definitely the saffron sweetened. What would be constitutely grits?

Overall 16,000 other people agree in some way shaper form that this place is good and you should definitely stop by and check it out for yourself

I’ve been to Sangam in Austin a couple of times now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots for South Indian food. I’ve tried Idli Sambar, different types of Dosas, Uttapams, Vada, and Chai – everything has been good, but the Dosas are absolutely amazing and definitely the highlight.

The restaurant has a nice vibe, and the staff is very polite and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. A great place to enjoy authentic South Indian flavors in Austin.

Must-try: Dosas ✅

I had to drive nearly half an hour to get to Suprabhat Indian Restaurant, but it was absolutely worth the trip. This place is a fully vegetarian gem, and they truly deliver on authentic South Indian flavors.

We ordered the Suprabhat Thali along with a Mysore Masala Dosa, and both were excellent. The dosa was crisp, perfectly spiced, and the chutney it came with was outstanding- probably one of the best I’ve had in a long time.

A nice surprise was that the thali comes with an option to select Poori instead of Chappathi which was a welcome change and paired well with the rest of the dishes. To top it off, I tried both filter coffee and masala tea, and they were spot on—rich, flavorful, and the perfect end to the meal.

If you’re looking for high-quality vegetarian South Indian food, Suprabhat is definitely worth the drive.

This small Indian restaurant is really good. It’s one of my top Indian restaurants around Austin and they also have a case full of desserts which are fantastic if you’ve never had Indian desserts, you should try some. The menu is huge and has no photos so you sort of have to know what you’re ordering or ask. They have a lot of things here that I don’t typically see on the menu of Indian restaurants and so far, everything has been great.

I don’t even know where to begin because this Indian all-vegetarian restaurant blew me away in every possible way. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the warmest smiles and kindness that made me feel instantly at home. The staff wasn’t just polite they were genuinely kind, attentive, and full of heart. You can tell they really care about their food and their guests. Now let’s talk about the food… WOW. Every single dish was bursting with flavor, freshness, and that perfect balance of spice and comfort. It’s rare to find a place that puts so much soul into their cooking, but this one absolutely does. Whether you’re vegetarian or not, you’ll fall in love with the variety and richness of the menu. It’s the kind of food that makes you want to slow down and savor every bite. The ambiance? Super clean, cozy, and inviting like the kind of place you want to bring your friends, your family, or even just spend time by yourself with a giant plate of something delicious. You leave feeling full, happy, and oddly peaceful. Truly an unforgettable experience. I’ll be coming back again and again, and I’ll be telling everyone I know to do the same.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat and it was ok for me. I was trying some new stuffs out. My buddy tried a fish curry and he didn’t enjoy it bc the fish for him was not fresh. I tried the Goat Roganjosh and it was very tasty, I didn’t love it but it was good. I think what we both liked was the chicken frankie, for some reason it came last, but I guess it was worth the wait. The outside was like a thin roti. Inside it was very flavorful, filled with chicken onions and spices. It was like an Indian pizza pocket but it puts them to shame. I would come back to try some other dishes.

I came here for dinner with my family friends, sat in the hut area the food was SOSO goodd!! Honestly and the staff was super nice too 🙂 but I only had a teensy problem which is I ordered the non alcoholic pina colada which I had a lot of expectations for which is bad on my part but the taste itself was good not sure if I can rlly rate it since it was my first, but I liked it the presentation was my problem, i expected yellow but it was white in color, a fancy glass and decor but it was a normal drinking water one but taste is what matters right?

I ordered Plantain Bajji, which was served with absolutely no salt. When I pointed it out, the staff member simply offered me salt on the side. I explained that adding salt to already fried fritters is not possible and asked if they could remake it. She said she would check with the manager, but never returned. Instead, she continued serving other customers while ignoring us completely.

After finishing the rest of our food, we went to the counter to raise the issue again and were glad they at least did not charge for that item. While I appreciate that, the handling of the situation was very poor. A simple update — even if they couldn’t remake it — would have shown basic respect and care for customers. Instead, the experience reflected indifference and a lack of accountability.

My friend and I went for dinner, and we love this place! We had been craving their food for a while, and we decided to go and it was amazing! Food came out very quick, and it was delicious! Menu has a variety of choices, all well priced, and all of them were my favorite! They recently renovated, so it looks very beautiful and modern. The service was also amazing, and the servers were super sweet. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Ask Amy

Ask Amy: Tandoori & Lounge + Bar

Not-So-India Jones: Walked in expecting Bollywood, got more “Sports Bar with a Side of Curry.” Atmosphere: meh.

️ Spice Level: Witness Protection Program: I got mild, hubby got medium—both came out in hiding. Somewhere in the back, the chilies are laughing.

Veggie Crunch Olympics: My vegetables were so firm I half-expected a medal ceremony. I like texture, but not “raw farmer’s market sampler.”

Server = Superhero: One server. One. She juggled the entire place with grace while the rest of us questioned life choices. Pay this woman more.

Final Destination: Flat Screen: The TV on the wall looked one wobble away from my lap. Dining and dodging, all in one.

Could Be Fancy, Settled for Frugal: With a sprinkle of cash and some imagination, this could be an upscale gem. Instead, it’s giving “budget lounge.”

⭐ Verdict: Good food, great server, but not the full Indian restaurant fantasy. Come hungry, leave mildly amused.

Food was delicious. Service was a little slow and it was quite hot inside, but I would still go back.
Would be a great meal for takeout.

Our favorite dishes were the cheese dosa, lamb saagwala, chicken 65 and rosemary naan.

This is hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Austin.
After a long search, I finally found a place that serves truly authentic Indian food. That said, they also have options for those who prefer less spicy dishes—just ask which items can have the spice level adjusted.

We ordered the goat biryani, lamb rogan josh, haleem, chai, and rasmalai, and everything was made to perfection. Our server was incredibly patient, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.

This is definitely my go-to Indian restaurant from now on!

Visited this place for a trip to Austin.
One of the best Indian Restaurant in Austin. Taste is excellent and amazing. Quality and Quantity of the food is very good. They have wide range of menu. I have tried couple of Biryani’s and Tiffins. All of the incredible in taste and texture. Loved to visit again in future. I hope they continue to serve good food. Please do visit if you’re looking for Indian Restaurant. I thought it was over hyped at first but afterwards it is completely out of the box.

This is not your typical Indian restaurant.
You walk in and the place smells fresh. No masalas no nothing in the air. Three TVs playing sports channels, music is upbeat pop. Super relaxed ambience.

2-3 people serving you as a team, each one has his/her own charm and are very hospitable. When taking our order, the young woman said “ma’am the grill items will take a bit longer.” And that was okay. Then as we were waiting, another came and said “ma’am just so you know we are working on your food – the grill items just take a bit longer.”
That second approach – a simple courtesy to the guest, is rare these days.

Food.
– Ordered the pakoras, ate them all without feeling the grease.
– Garlic naan and Kashmiri naan – finger licking.
– EXCELLENT lamb dishes!! We tried the pepper fry lamb and the lamb tikka masala.
– Malai chicken boti – The meat did feel like malai. So extremely soft -‘d tender!

All the grill dishes came with rice, a traditional daal and a nice summer crisp salad.

MOST IMPORTANTLY- every dish had its own taste. They were all unique. We didn’t feel stuffed so they must use fresh ingredients.

Extremely happy to have found this place. They are open until 3 am so we might go on late night adventures very soon! 🙂

Just tried the buffet at New Sitara Indian Restaurant, and I was really impressed! They have a great variety of dishes that cater to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The flavors were authentic and nicely balanced—not too spicy but still full of taste.
The highlights for me were the fresh naan, the rich butter chicken, and the biryani, which was perfectly cooked and fragrant. Their vegetarian options were also excellent, especially the paneer curry and dal. The salad bar and dessert section (loved the double ka meta !) were a nice touch.

I recently visited New Sitara for their lunch buffet, and it did not disappoint. The selection was diverse, with plenty of traditional Indian favorites. The chatt ,biryani station and flavorful, and the goat curry had a nice depth of spiceThe buffet was well-organized, clean, and consistently replenished. I also appreciated the variety of chutneys and salads to balance out the rich dishes. For dessert, the kheer and gulab jamun were the perfect sweet ending.
Service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt relaxed. Whether you’re new to Indian food or a longtime fan, this buffet is worth a visit. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Slightly disappointed with the food from this place. Ordered Malai kofta , daal makhani and paneer Tikka. Kofta was slightly over salty and daal was very thick. Naan and roti were good. Paneer was very very spicy.
They served water in a glass bottle but did not clarify it was not filtered water, as it tasted little funny.
Ambience wise the place was good and service staff was polite.

I love this specific muntha masala stall and this is the first time I have seen this interesting stall. It is a true delight that perfect balance of spicy, tangy and curnchy that keeps me coming back for more. The puffed rice is perfectly roasted, and all the fresh ingredients like chopped onions, tomatoes, and chilies are mixed in right before your eyes, ensuring maximum freshness. The hint of lemon just brightens everything up.

We had a wonderful experience dining at Kuppanna! Every dish we ordered was flavorful and freshly made. The Butter Paneer and Butter Chicken were rich and creamy(intensely buttery), perfect with the soft cheese naan and garlic naan. The cheese naan was an artsy creation and I’ve never tried anything like their Cheese Naan before. The Daal Makhni was slow-cooked to perfection with a indian flavors and dried red chili.

The Chicken Tandoori (whole) was a showstopper was smoky, and well spiced. We also loved the Potato Stuffed Dosa, which was crispy and satisfying with its mild filling and dips. For something with a little kick, the Chicken Manchurian hit the spot with its tomatoey and spicy flavors. We also had this Mutton dish which I did not like especially for the intense south Indian flavors.

However, wish we got our food in orders: from drinks, appetisers to main courses and chai. Low rating in service and ambience because there were three flies disturbing us and sitting on our food.

Delicious, fresh food at reasonable prices with generous portions and lightning-fast service—definitely a spot worth checking out. We enjoyed the dosas, medu vada, and an array of flavorful chutneys (not pictured), along with garlic naan, malai kofta, and butter chicken—all packed with taste. The restaurant stays open until 11:45 PM on Fridays, which is a big bonus. We were in and out in just 45 minutes!

I think I have found my new favorite Indian restaurant in Austin. I haven’t had a proper South Indian meal in US for a while, and this restaurant satisfied it.

We went there for a weekend lunch. They had an unlimited buffet that day. I believe it’s only for the weekend. There was a $20 veg buffet and $25 non-veg buffet. But it was different from a traditional buffet, instead they just serve you as many times as you ask.

The parotta was very flaky and very well made. It was perfect. Mutton briyani was very flavorful. The chicken and mutton gravy paired very well with the parotta. My friend had the vegetarian meal and she enjoyed it too.

Rose milk was a very good dessert to end the meal.

Visited this place for the first time and tried a couple of different items from the menu. The biryani was a bit too spicy for our taste, but the rest of the dishes were quite good. Tea was just okay nothing exceptional. The overall ambiance was pleasant, service was good, and the place was fairly busy with most tables occupied, which is always a good sign. A decent first experience, and we might return to try other items that suit our spice preference.

We tried the unlimited dosa buffet for $13.99 plus tax. It starts with one dosa, accompanied by one idli and two kuzhi paniyaram. After that, you can order more dosas, although not all types are included in the buffet. We enjoyed the Egg Kal dosa, Ghee dosa, Ghee masala dosa (a bit heavy on the ghee), and Podi dosa. The filter coffee was just okay, but the atmosphere and service were excellent.

Aug’24: Chicken Briyani plus Non-Veg meals was delicious. As usual, service was great.

Aug’25: chicken kotthu parrota was delicious but mutton chukka became hard after few minutes

These foods bring back our memories enjoying street food when we backpacking all over India, I have missed to eat pani puri, dahi puri and I was able to enjoy it in Austin. It takes us 40 minutes from our house in South Austin to the location but it’s totally worth it! I told my husband to take me here for my birthday Yay happy belly.

Had a fantastic time at this place! Its located at a gas station and has outdoor seating. The owner, Imtayaz is a wonderful gentleman and suggested us their top menu items. We tried a lot of items here. The service is very fast and all the items are very reasonably priced. They also have a list of jain menu items.
While everything we order was delicious and tasted very authentic, I would highly recommend their cheese pav bhaji, dabeli and raj kachori.

Service and atmosphere was superb but the shrimp biryani’s flavor was a bit off. Aloo Gobi was delicious but the onion pakora had too much cardamom and was too intense of a flavor. The Indian lagers were tasty!

I ordered about $100 worth of food from here last night. I got the tandoori chicken, lamb chops, goat vindaloo, Palak Daal, rice and naan.
It was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had. It was unfortunate to spend so much for such poor quality food.
The lamb chops were so dry and over cooked that it was not enjoyable. I could not even bite through the lamb chops. I couldn’t rip a piece off of them. I am a lamb lover, tried lamb all over the world and this was the worst. The meat was gritty due to being over cooked and no amount of chewing let me get through the meat. I think they put yogurt on the meat but it just bubbled and looked unappetizing.
The goat vindaloo was mostly bones. Like with the tiniest amount of meat on them. It may not have even been 1 oz of meat. It was a bowl of bones. I don’t know why a restaurant would serve people this food. I do not recommend wasting your money here. I am not sure how they have the reviews that they do. Whoever was the cook last night should consider another career. This was the worst cooked food. I am not even sure how it was so bad.
I’ve had well done lamb and this was not that.
I still have most of the food. Please restaurant owners look at whatever was going on last night and never let it happen again.

This place ought to be more packed at all hours. What a great Indian spot and everything was on par with the best I’ve had. The goat was great and their specialty naan and desserts were incredible as well. Highly recommend the cauliflower 65 as an appetizer. The classic tiki masala has somewhat of a more tomato flavor but doesn’t take away from the creaminess. Rice is cooked perfectly soft and fluffy and airy. Service was quick and kind!

Jaipur Palace is a reliable choice for authentic Indian food. The overall experience seems consistently positive, with many praising the friendly service and the quality of the dishes. It’s a good option for a casual meal and appears to be a popular spot for both dine-in and delivery. The menu offers a wide variety of options.

Based on what I’m seeing, the restaurant stands out due to its attentive staff and generally well-prepared meals. It’s a place where you can reasonably expect a satisfying dining experience, and the portions appear fair. I would define it as a solid choice for those craving classic Indian flavors.

Our favorite restaurant in Austin! Vellino has been our server every time we’ve come and he has always made us feel welcome and had excellent food recommendations. The food is always delicious and service is always fast. It takes a lot for me to give a restaurant a 5 star review, they have to not only have great food and good service and atmosphere but also be consistent with the standards. Jaipur Palace has been a favorite and has never disappointed ever since we first tried it. P.S. the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken are incredible.

This is how much chicken comes in an $18 to-go order of tikka masala. And there is only enough rice to cover the bottom of the pan.
I saw all of the great reviews online and figured I would order. Maybe you need to eat at the restaurant because I ordered 3 entrees and I feel like combined they have 1 chicken breast in them. Spent well over $50… pretty sad definitely would not order from here again.

I’ve had delivery several times and have once been in person. The food is always good, and portions are fair. The service in person is good. They’re attentive and happy to answer any questions. Food comes out hot and fresh. When delivered it’s been packaged well too.

The vegetarian selection is more than adequate, and there’s plenty of options for protein. The Malai Kofta is my favorite though.

The only negative thing is I did once order something medium and it was obviously made Indian spicy. Delicious, but most mortals will struggle to finish the whole dish. I love spicy food, but this was easily as spicy as any Thai food I’ve had. Their “hot” is likely going to be plenty, even if you like spicy.

This is our new favorite Indian restaurant now that our old favorite changed it’s recipes. It’s location is kind of hidden, so we initially stumbling onto it.

The food is always fresh and made to order. Unlike a lot of other authentic Indian restaurants, they understand and respect that we want our food “mild”. 🙂 We’re still working our way around the menu and everything we’ve tried so far has been excellent (we mostly eat meats and naan).

I strongly recommend you give it a try if you’re looking for a new place to eat. The staff is always polite and attentive.

Spicefine appears to be a mixed bag regarding quality. Reports suggest the food can be inconsistent; some diners have experienced significantly smaller portions and a lack of meat in their biryani, while others found the buffet selection to be quite extensive and enjoyable. It’s important to acknowledge that reviews often vary, and it’s something to keep in mind when deciding to dine there.

The level of service seems variable, with some praising the staff’s friendliness and attentiveness. However, there are concerns voiced regarding food safety, and it is crucial that stringent quality control measures are in place to ensure a positive and safe dining experience. It’s advisable to research and consider recent feedback before ordering from or visiting this biryani restaurant. The ambience also seems to require some attention.

The server was very kind and courteous! She was attentive and listened carefully to our order.
The good was frankly, uninspiring. The portions were average to smaller with a lot of sauce but not as much meat (lamb/chicken/cheese). An exception to this was the shrimp biryani in that it came with a lot of rice. The garlic naan was excellent!
(I can’t blame them for the atmosphere as their A/C was broken the evening we visited.)

The worst worst worst restaurant I would say. They just gave(threw) left over food, quantity is like – not even sufficient for kids, stale+cold+worst taste. We tried the Saturday buffet for lunch. Staff is friendly and quick. Ambience is decent. And coming to the food, it is good and not spicy but a bit costly ($22 with tax) when compared with other restaurants.
It has both veg and non veg buffets.
Starters – chilly chicken, apollo fish, Tandoori chicken, Gobi 65 are good.
Entrees – chicken tikka, chicken sagi are good. Sambar is good too.
Desserts – Jilebi, gulab jam and halva are good.
Added pictures, please check. Must recommend for a buffet.

These people should not be allowed to run a restaurant business . I would pursue legal action against them if I had the time and resources to do so. I am a vegetarian by dietary preference. The vegetarian dish I ordered came with chicken in it. During my last visit, the plate had worms in it (in hindsight, I should not have given them another chance by visiting again).

I hope some authorities carry out an inspection and teach them a lesson.

AVOID THIS PLACE !

This place is so delicious. So much flavor in all their dishes. We usually come for their weekday lunch buffet, because I want everything. I can’ t choose just one meal. During the buffet, they have a vegetarian side and meat side. It’s clearly marked. It seems several Indian restaurants in the area are doing away with weekday lunch buffets, so we came here for the first time about three weeks ago because they had the buffet, and it did not disappoint. Today was our second time here and they had some of the same dishes but they also changed up some dishes. I loved trying these new flavors. 10/10 recommend! The problem with coming here is that I only have one stomach. lol! The food is so filling and I do feel it’s a great value. We will definitely come back again. They also had a ton of grub hub type delivery service companies come pick up at least 20 different meals while we were there, and yet it did not affect the quantity or quality of the food on the buffet.

We went Spice Indian restaurant but the food quality and experience was not great
1. Restaurants itself is not well maintained and clean there were no dryer or tissue to clean your hand near washrooms.
2. Food quality is not good. We order paneer tikka but the gravy has savory flavor and it was not fresh. Paneer was hard to chew
3. There were no persons dedicated for taking orders or helping customers people are everywhere.

I would not recommend this restaurant or come back again

Not only do they open late, their food is delicious! I highly recommend the chicken korma. It was perfect in every way with the creaminess and flavoring. I also tried the chole bhatura. It was good but not my favorite place to get it here. I normally get vegetarian samosa but decided to try chicken samosa. Personally, I like the vegetarian samosa more. Their garlic naan was good too. They also have Indian flavoring for their icecream. My one complaint is that for two scoops and one cone, it was $8. It’s a bit expensive, but was yummy.

Amazing Indian fast food esp the Bombay fast food. Their highlights are Pani Puri, Sev Puri, Pav Bhaji, Puri Bhaji/chole and esp the Bombay Sandwich. It’s 100% vegetarian and freshly made and tastes incredible. The taste is incredible.
The prices are very reasonable and they also give you free bottled water which is amazing.

I wish if i could give zero star.
I ordered Allu pratha. Look at the picture if its look Allu pratha from any side. Its something else. If you guys don’t know how to prepare Allu pratha or any item; please make some search or work on your recipe or remove item from menu. Its totally disappointed. Tea was also without sugar and no sugar inside bag. Seriously!
We were not going to put review as i don’t want any negativity that’s why we called store for personal review but the person was on phone continuously arguing with us ; wasn’t ready to accept it. Atleast agree if you guys disappointing someone because it shows other picture on Uber and send something else.
Although we compromised with price as it was too high but still didn’t get that expected item.

Atrociously long wait time today. I ordered 3 rotis and a regular Kachori. It took them 45 unbelievable minutes to get it served.
Terrible!!! Not acceptable at all…
People who ordered masala dosa after me all got served before me and they even left before me getting my food..

The manager should address this with the lady manning the counter post 6pm…

They should either change the restaurant name or the dishes. Samosas came in made of wheat flour and black channas in papdi chat. The papdi although had no taste. Poor preparation. Probably stay away from this place.

I say this with absolute sincerity!
I give this place a 20/10.
$13-18/person

The owner is such a sweet gentle man and I will dine here as long as I can.

My car had some issues and he happily looked at it and told me exactly what I needed to fix.

He also gave great recommendations and served us everything we asked for and then some more.

The dosa was delicious. Nice. Crispy. Flavorful
Puri Chole were great. We like it a little spiced and salted, so just added on top
Idli was soft. Fresh.
Sambar chutney were fresh.
Samosa chat was good. The samosas by itself were delicious!
The Bombay style grill sandwich was good. Maybe they can try adding a little more chaat/sandwich masala, but it was good.

This is a business that I 10000% support!

When I walked in to no one in the restaurant, I was a little hesitant but this turned into an AMAZING experience. Food was fantastic and quick but also the manager was amazing. He gave us samples and was extremely friendly. Will definitely be back

Place was neat and clean. Service was with a smile. We had brunch and ordered for 5 people. Food tasted fresh. Aaloo parathas were great and I made sure that it was with whole wheat aata and not maida. The owner confirmed that they use whole wheat for parathas and pooris and that is why they don’t serve Bhatura but serve pooris instead. The food in the thali was great and fresh tasting, not too full of spices and not too spicy hot. Masala Chai and aaloo Tikki chat were also very tasty.
Owner was friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience. Will definitely visit again.
