Easiest 5 stars I can give! Did goat yoga a year ago for my birthday and had a blast. The pizza is always fantastic, and not too bad of a price either! The staff is friendly and the cocktails change every few months. One of my favorite places in Drip to take people to!

Absolutely love Jester King and the range of drinks they always have. Tons of seating, always a great vibe with live music. Super dog friendly and such a nice touch with all the misters and fans they have during those hot Texan summers. A must go to place when you’re in Dripping Springs!

Jester King Brewery is a must-visit for craft beer lovers. The beers were fantastic—each one unique with a great balance of flavors. The standout for me was their Aurastone ’25, which was perfectly tart and complex. The food was also great, complementing the beers really well. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, a great spot for amazing brews and good eats!

I’ve been coming here for years because the beer is unique and just so good. I really like the addition of the food truck to bring food outside of pizza to the menu makes me love this place more. The Smash burgers are DELICIOUS! Then a farm trail is perfect to walk off the full stomach. Great place for the family and don’t forget to bring your dog!

What a surprise! Service is amazing and so friendly, the tacos are fresh, original flavors and delicious. Of course the beer is outstanding I went for the northwest passage (coffee black ale) and a couple of crazy horse (Pilsner original). Ask for Lazlo and Karla my new friends in Austin!

My wife and I had a great time at Lazarus this weekend. There are several inviting spaces to relax in, and the atmosphere is a laid back neighborhood vibe. We enjoyed some delicious street tacos along with a nice variety of drinks– Lightning Wolf and Kon-Tiki on draft, and Chardonnay. As a craft beer snob from Atlanta, I didn’t know what to expect. But let me tell you, the Kon-Tiki was one of the most flavorful and refreshing drafts I’ve ever had. The pineapple and coconut combination was incredible but not overpowering. I sincerely hope Lazarus considers distributing or attending beer festivals in the near future — their lineup definitely deserves wider exposure. A huge shoutout to the team: the manager, Homer, and bartenders Katilyn and Mattix were incredibly friendly. They even took a beer shot with us to celebrate our 33rd “Meetaversary,” which made our visit to Austin even more memorable. Cheers to great beer, great people, and great memories!!

Lazarus hands down has the best locally brewed beers in Austin and arguably the entire country, there I said it. The crisp refreshing lagers such as Black Pearl, Time Machine, and John Wayne is a Sissy make getting through the summer days in Austin a breeze, and if that ain’t your style, there are plenty of other ales on tap. The staff are always friendly and inviting, vibes are immaculate, and the location has you feeling close to the city but away from the rambunctiousness of E 6th st. Highly recommend showing your friends and family Lazarus, it won’t disappoint.

Special shout out to Carlos who always says hello with a bright smile and shows some love to my boy Tex!

Went to Airport Blvd location. I had a flight and enjoyed all of the beers that I tried so I took 3 crowlers to go to share with friends back in San Antonio. When I got home, all 3 had leaked and when I took them off of the plastic holder 1 exploded with the top coming off. Good beer, but if you want buy the crowlers to go, make sure you keep them as cold as possible during transport.

Edited after contact from Jessica at Lazarus: changed from 4 to 5 stars and added advice for crowler transport. I’m still unsure if crowler leaks/bursting were from a packaging issue or transport. The beers were never brought above 80F but since they were stored cold at Lazarus, even that temperature change added to the vibration of car travel to San Antonio may have caused the leaking. Note that the temperature change being a factor is my speculation on the cause and not an excuse/deflection offered by Lazarus. Regardless of the cause, Jessica addressed the issue and I am happy with the result. Again, the beer was excellent, service was friendly and the quick contact about a customer issue is a sign of a well run business. I’ll return to Lazarus when visiting Austin and hope to try their food and more of their delicious beer.
Cheers.

I’m here visiting my son from Bellingham, WA. I googled best breweries near me – picked your Airport Blvd. Location by ratings and proximity to my son’s home. Was super happy with my choice! I profess to be an IPA snob, and live a good hazy when it’s warm. Your Lightning Wolf delivered! Juicy, citrusy deliciousness! And your outdoor space had an amazing vibe. Felt like I could be home (with both coffee and beer in same spot), but warmer! Grabbed a 6-pk to go…still enjoying! Will be back on future visits!

Lazarus Brewing Company, which is located on East 6th Street in Austin, Texas, is a great spot for a drink + a bite to eat! The atmosphere inside of this space is warm, inviting, and the staff are really kind. The service is very efficient, even when the place is really busy! They have several draft beer options, all of which are brewed in-house. They have Beer-To-Go options as well, including 12 ounce beer cans + 32 ounce crowlers. As a non-beer drinker myself, I was hoping to try one of their Frozens during my first visit here (e.g. their Margarita or Pina Colada). Unfortunately, their machine was down, so I tried one of their Rosé options (as outlined on their wine list) instead. Honestly, this did the trick, because whatever I was served was delicious. 🙂 Regarding food, their Chiquito-sized Nachos are delicious – they are the perfect snack. I highly recommend this spot!

This was a good bar and pub with indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a classic that’s been around since 1969 and there’s a lot of nostalgia with this place. There’s a food truck outside, which is amazing. Probably one of the better fish and chips I’ve ever had. The cod is fried tempura style so it’s light and crispy. Huge kudos on the way they prepare this! They have an assortment of drinks from beers to cocktails. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any wine, so if you enjoy wine, you may have to try something different here. Overall the place is nice, clean, and a great place to hang out. There’s not a lot of parking, so you may have to park across the street, which is ok after 5:30. Pretty cool Austin neighborhood bar and hangout.

Cozy wooden bar, shaded beer garden, and a great food truck. The German menu of burgers, bratwurst, and pretzels matches the bar aesthetic.
Austin’s oldest brewery looks the part.
I especially enjoyed the vanilla porter with a BBQ house burger. It was a spirited place to watch a UT football game.
Nestled in the medical district, the bar has its own small parking lot, street parking nearby, and adjacent business parking after hours.

We accidentally stumbled upon the Draught House while searching for a shaded beer garden, and I’m so glad we did! The atmosphere embodied Texas: busy, lively, and full of people enjoying each other’s company. The free water was a lifesaver on a hot day, but their boozy Dole Whip stole the show for me. They were phenomenal, and now I’m determined to recreate one at home. If you’re in the area, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Great classic Austin vibe outside, good English pub vibe inside. Lots of seating but not too much parking. Bar service was meh, beer was delicious. Food truck service was fast and burgers were delicious. My biggest complaint was no high chairs even though there were a ton of babies there and it seems to be a business that attracts families.

Maybe just Memorial day but the bartender does not want to be here. Cool spot and love the building. Bartender refused a taste of any house beers which is new to us. So we had a single draft and got down the road. Maybe better off on a normal business day.

This is a great brewery. It is a huge warehouse that is very inviting. The beers are great. They have a great food menu. We settled for the pretzel and pizza. Their pretzel is amazing! The pizza was good but a little too overdone on the outside and not enough on the inside. I’d like to try their other dishes next time. The service is great! They are very friendly!

Beer = 5! My husband and I went on a Saturday around 3 PM. The moment we arrived, we were instantly captivated by the lively outdoor space, where joyful children were playing and cheerful dogs were wagging their tails in delight. The energy of the place is simply electric—it’s open, bright, and incredibly welcoming!

Had to make a trip to South Austin, Austin Recycle and Resource Recovery, so we decided to stop for lunch.

A friend told me Pinthouse’s food was good, and having previously liked some of their beers, I wanted to see for myself.

We ordered two of the Smash Burgers, one with fries and the other with the slaw. The burger and fries were really delicious as well as the beer. I did not try the slaw, but my wife enjoyed it, says it was good. The Beluga ale had great flavor.

Fresh ingredients and great made to order food with on-site brewed beer made for an awesome lunch. My son and I also played the ring swing game for the first time, both catching a hook after a few minutes of playing. Great lunch experience, and it was cool to get to see some of the brewery.

Such a cool place! The food was great, service was friendly and didn’t take long. They have so many things to look at places to walk around and seating for days!!! I imagine this place gets very lively on the weekends in the summer as there are some bars and nightlife spaces as well. If you’re looking for a drink, bite to eat and enjoy an absolutely incredible view definitely check this place out. They have a cute lock and key theme throughout and it’s amazing to think how someone could have placed their locks in such peculiar places!

Great brews, great views, and great times. Love this spot, it’s less crowded than the Oasis on lake Travis (the Tex Mex restaurant) and it’s got a great view of the lake as well. You can see the restaurant from the brewery’s outdoor patio/terrace areas. Great spot to enjoy some local craft brews. The bartenders will see you up just right here. Sit back, have a drink, and enjoy the view. Soak in some of that Texas sun here while sipping craft beer, what more could you ask for?

I visited Oasis Texas Brewing Company recently and absolutely loved their beautiful atmosphere, and views from the restaurant! I did not enjoy their food all that much though to be quite honest. I ordered their Chips and Salsa and Guacamole for an appetizer and their Chicken Stuffed Avocado for lunch. The chips were okay, I’m not sure if they were freshly made at the restaurant or if they were bought. The salsa was not good in my opinion however the guacamole was freshly made and quite tasty. The Chicken Stuffed Avocado was not something I enjoyed at all. I’m not sure if I chose something off and unpopular on the menu, or if the food just isn’t that great. I think the view and atmosphere of Oasis is their main point of interest for visitors. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Thank you

As a preface, this is a tourist destination tucked away in the hills and about an hour away from a major population center. With this in mind, the food was pretty good. The wings were super juicy and large, fries were fresh and tasty. The beers were also very good. Our waiter was super friendly. We ordered by scanning the QR on the table and food was brought to us.

Is it pricey? Yes. But you are paying for the view and the experience. We visited during non peak season and we were never rushed and it was very relaxing. The weather was fantastic so we chilled and chatted in the patio.

I also noticed that about 30% of people going there to take pictures, didn’t ordered anything. Which could also contribute to the higher cost of food.

Why would I come back: The real question is after so many trips to Austin, how have I not been to ABGB? What a great place. Huge community tables inside (booths and bar stools too). Plenty of outside space that has to be amazing on a Austin evening. Great beer, multiple award winner, Rocket 100, plus a terrific Märzen. Creative pizzas and yummy sandwiches, who doesn’t love a great muffaletta? Chill atmosphere this afternoon, but with love music and a full brewhouse, I know it gets crazy here. They give 5% to charity and nonprofit partners, so you’re doing good by drinking beer! PROST!

The faucet in the left sink of the men’s restroom is partially blocked by calcium build-up and sprays water everywhere, including your shirt and pants. This sounds like a minor issue and easy to fix, however I complained to the manager and bartenders several times on multiple occasions and they simply won’t fix it. This 1-star review is for their management for not listening to their customer(s). This is my last attempt to get their attention to this minor yet extremely annoying problem that can be easily repaired. Please fix it already!

Hell yeah! One of the most awarded and tenured among modern Austin breweries, and still going strong. Enjoyed collaborations with other breweries, generally focusing on lagers. Pizza was also huge and eat for the family. We all enjoyed the welcoming, diverse environment and graffiti art.

Meanwhile brewing offers a great variety of beer! They have several food trucks – I’ve tried 3 different ones offering Mexican food, pizza and ice cream… all great! The atmosphere is phenomenal! I’ve also played soccer during the week, they have a turf field. Love coming with my family here!

Great spot to hang out with friends! The area has several food trucks offering different types of food, though keep in mind that not all of them operate on weekdays. There’s plenty of space inside, as well as outdoor seating. The place is quite popular, so it can get busy.
Prices are average, the drinks are decent, and the service is fast with a friendly staff. The interior is simple, but there are good seating options for groups. Overall, a nice casual spot to grab a bite and relax with friends.

Good brews in a gorgeous setting…shaded picnic tables and a playground provide great spaces for the family. A large projector provides sports viewing. They have a bunch of food trucks and a soccer field.

Also…some very good coffee!

Meanwhile Brewing Company is hands down one of the best spots in South Austin! They have a huge selection of beer, so there’s something for every taste, and if you get hungry, there are plenty of food trucks around with great options.

The outdoor seating area is massive, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. I happened to visit during a SXSW concert, so there was live music adding to the vibe. One of the best parts? The large playground for the kids—plenty of space for them to run around while the adults kick back with a cold beer.

Whether you’re here for the beer, the food, the music, or just a laid-back Austin experience, Meanwhile Brewing delivers. Definitely a five-star spot!

and coffee for those who want something different. There are several food trucks with good options, so there’s always something to eat.

The outdoor space in the back is big, with plenty of room for kids to run around and play. There are shaded trees, benches, and a big-screen TV, making it a good spot for families with young kids, parties, dates, or just hanging out with friends, especially in the spring or fall.

A swing for the kids would be a nice addition, but overall, it’s a solid place to visit.

Round two of me and my wife trying out local breweries in Austin, first impression, very industrial and gritty, not a bad thing.
A nice variety of beers on tap, atmosphere was great, had a great Mexican food truck out there that rivaled what I would imagine a lot of Mexican establishments. Overall it was a great experience and neat brewery, if i was a local I’d visit more often.

This bald guy doesn’t know anything about customer service.

Yes, of course. After the hockey game we took part in, we went to this bar. I had a thermos and an open can of beer with me. This gentleman pointed out that bringing your own drinks wasn’t allowed.
I immediately stepped outside, left my things, and came right back in to buy a drink there.
We approached the counter, but that guy said, “We’re closed.”
So we went out to the terrace and sat down to finish what was left in that open can.
At 10:10 p.m., this employee came over to us and forcefully snatched the can out of my friend’s hand — without asking or saying a word.

Upd upd: Nobody threatened his life. How can you lie like that? You even have video evidence showing an officer twisting my friend’s arm.

Parking is a little ‘fun’ here. It’s not a busy street, so take your time. Ice arena next door, so they sort of share the street parking. Great texmex food truck. Order beer and food at the bar. Line can get long at times but the good folks working always jam it out with extra people seeming to come out of nowhere to help pour. Great merch options also and typically some fine selections to grab and go. Dogs ok, most of the seating is outdoors.

Hold Out is an awesome brewery spot in Austin. The location isn’t too bad, and their setup is very cool with plenty of seating inside and even more outside.

The beer is very good; their smoked lager was top notch. But the food here is what sets them apart. We went for brunch and were not disappointed. The Japanese Pancakes with Fried Chicken and their Brunch Burger were to die for. We’d go back just for the food. 10/10

Id love to share a picture of my food, but it smelled so good (and then was so good) that I chowed down with so much pleasure and delight to finally have someone who can smash a burger the right way! Super fast and friendly service, absolutely adorable spot that’s tucked away right off of 4th street. Lots of space for seating, kid friendly, dog friendly, and parts are very well shaded! We came on a Tuesday at 1230 pm and were served INCREDIBLY fast! LOVE LOVE LOVE this spot, staff, food and Brews!!!!!!!! Thanks for an incredible lunch guy, see you soon!

Hold Out Brewery is on the west side of the property. Note fries do not come with the burger so you have to add them on the side. It’s another $5-6 but it’s more than enough to share between two people.

If you like a good smash burger this is a great place for that. And good selection of craft brews on tap. Service is good but orders can take a while. When they’re busy I’m halfway to my next beer by the time my smash burger arrives. But worth the wait after the first bite.

Holdout brewing was a pretty cool place, with a big outdoor area they share with Better Half. The food at holdout brewing was actually pretty good. We hit the Sunday brunch and enjoyed it. The highlight was the Japanese pancake and fried chicken. Excellent! The hamburger and salad were both really good as well. As always, we love grabbing queso, although this queso was pretty thick. I liked the selection of some local beers and they do have some wine options although they’re not that great. The place is nice with some indoor seating, although everybody seems to gather outdoors. They have some TVs up for watching the games or other. Where holdout doesn’t come through is in their service time. The waits are so long before bringing out out order. It just took too long and then they forgot one of our orders and I had to wait 15 minutes longer for my burger. Overall, I give this place a thumbs up for ambience and food, but the wait is too long.

Great atmosphere and awesome beers. Great spot to cool off and have an excellent beer. Zilker has lots to choose from including a variety of unique IPAs that are all very good. In addition to indoor seating they have covered outdoor seating with misting fans to keep you cool.

If you want food there’s a food truck on the property that you can order food from inside Zilker and they’ll bring it to you.

Good vibes and reasonable prices. I had the lager and Pilsner. Their Pilsner was quite crisp and refreshing, was my favorite of the two. The fried chicken truck inside is next level. Has a strong flavor profile consisting of a solid spicy kick, but also a sweet after taste. The sauces were on point, but the Korean style fried chicken was a fantastic pairing with the beer. We went on a Monday, so it was less busy, but great ambiance. My only complaint is I feel their beer isn’t ice cold coming out of the keg. It was cold for sure but feel it could’ve been colder.

I had a great experience at this brewery! I tried both the light beer and the IPA—each one was fantastic, crisp, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was equally impressive, especially the outdoor ceiling area which added a relaxed, welcoming vibe. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole visit even better. Highly recommend checking this place out—I’ll definitely be back!

Great brewery. Glad to finally visit after drinking their beer in cans for years. The atmosphere is nice but seating inside is a little limited. There’s a huge outdoor area, so I’m sure it’s a great place to hang out when the weather is nice. A portion of the outside area had nice shades up but I didn’t risk it. Added bonus is the spicy chicken food truck on the grounds. I’ve only eaten there once but it was really good.

Zilker Brewing Company is a great option for craft beer lovers in Austin. With a wide selection of beers and a cool atmosphere, it’s a popular spot for a reason. Just be prepared for a potential wait and the lack of samples or on-site food. They don’t offer food but you can order from a side truck online from the venue. You have to go and pick it up from the truck. They have a good beer selection, cool atmosphere, and friendly staff. Parking next to it is very costly. Go down the street and find a street parking for more cost efficient options.

Great spot! I tried a their Mexican-style lager, Primos (refreshing and tasty) and their Pilsner, The American (a little less impressive but still great!). There’s a nice indoor and outdoor space with games. I went with a group of 3 on a Thursday night and there was no wait. If you want food you can order from the food truck parked outside, Spicy Boys. You have to order online and then go pick up from the truck. I tried the classic nuggets and tots, both great. The portions are pretty big and I had to take some of the nuggets home, definitely could have shared with someone. Pet friendly which is a plus!! Overall great experience, definitely recommend.

Why is Austin known for its breweries?

Austin has gained a reputation as a craft beer destination due to a unique combination of factors. The city boasts a supportive community, a passionate consumer base eager for new and interesting beers, and a relatively relaxed regulatory environment that has fostered the growth of numerous independent breweries. The culture of innovation and experimentation is also a contributing factor to the burgeoning beer scene.

How many breweries are there in Austin?

The number of breweries in Austin is constantly evolving, but there are currently well over 50 operating breweries within the greater Austin metropolitan area. This number includes a mix of large-scale production breweries, smaller brewpubs, and taprooms focusing on unique and limited-release beers. Keeping track of new openings and closures can be challenging!

What types of beers are typically brewed in Austin?

Austin breweries produce a very wide range of beer styles. While IPAs (India Pale Ales) remain popular, you’re likely to find everything from lagers and stouts to sours and seasonal ales. Many Austin brewers focus on experimenting with local ingredients and innovative brewing techniques, leading to a diverse selection of unique and flavorful beers.

    Are Austin breweries family-friendly?

Many Austin breweries are very welcoming to families. While alcohol is the primary product, many taprooms have outdoor spaces, games, and activities to keep children entertained. It's always a good idea to check a brewery’s website or call ahead to confirm their specific policies regarding children and other family-friendly amenities.

What are the most popular brewery locations in Austin?

The legal drinking age in Texas is 21 years old. Brewery taprooms must adhere to strict regulations regarding alcohol sales and consumption. Typically, they require proper identification to verify age and often have designated areas for alcohol consumption. Some breweries have sections that allow patrons of all ages, but alcohol is restricted to those over 21.

How do I stay up-to-date on new brewery openings and events in Austin?

Several resources can help you stay informed about Austin’s ever-evolving beer scene. Local blogs, social media groups dedicated to Austin beer, and brewery websites are excellent sources of information. Many breweries also announce events and special releases through their email newsletters. Joining local Austin beer communities online is a good way to discover new places.

Can I take brewery beers to go?

Regulations regarding "to-go" beer sales have evolved. Many breweries now offer beer to-go, either in cans, bottles, or growlers.
