Had wayyyy too much fun here. I took Pole 1 with Shannon. Her personality immediately made everyone comfortable. The warm up may have been the hardest part, but as someone who’s uncoordinated and just loves to dance , I’ll definitely be back. Love being in a room full of bad ass women! Truly such an empowering class.

First timer here and to pole dancing. Took the level 1 course & I have nothing but great things to say! Courtney was an energetic, welcoming, and educational teacher! Be ready to bring your A game, you can do more than you think! Thank you Courtney for allowing us to feel confident and sexy while learning the basics to pole dancing!

We did a chair tease class for a bachelorette party this weekend! Courtney was our instructor and she made us SO fun. An accessible activity for all, but also highly fun and personalized. I highly recommend!

I had a private birthday party with my friends. The coach and class were both excellent. The coach made us feel very comfortable letting loose and embracing sexiness. We had such a great time. We laughed a lot and learned some moves to use in the real world. At the end, we were given some champagne and chocolates. In addition, I received a small present from SoFly Studios for my birthday.

We picked this activity for my best friends bachelorette party (we came from South Dakota) and I knew it was out of everyone’s comfort zone…everyone was so comfortable and had so much fun! Our instructor, Christine, was amazing and so patient and encouraging. I would recommend this activity for any special occasions or even if you just feel like feeling sexy!

Becca is the best instructor I’ve ever had. I have done multiple aerial classes but this has to be the best I have ever gone to. Becca knows what she’s doing and she is so sweet/patient. She sees your skill level and adapts. She can see your limits and your drives. Wonderful studio / beautiful atmosphere. Welcome to Austin!

The studio space is nice! But I didn’t feel like the class was actually focused on beginners. A number of the different moves required you to take your feet of the ground, which assumes you can hold your own body weight. Which I can’t and so I was left feeling like I couldn’t fully participate in the class. Which didn’t give me an empowering feeling which is the goal of pole work. It just wasn’t the welcoming environment I was hoping for.

I love the energy at Esquina Tango. I’ve gone to the Thursday tango class/social, one Samba class so far, and I’m excited to check out Kizomba Sundays soon. The instructors are fun and passionate about dance, and the venue is welcoming and vibrant. If you’re looking for a fun space to learn dance and have community, this is the place!

This class is unbelievably fun! You can feel the supportive community with chatter before and after class. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. And the dance moves are easy to learn with all the repetition. You will break a sweat and connect with a fun crowd, even if you’re a little shy like me. Stephanie is a fabulous instructor with great energy. Try this class!

I had a truly wonderful experience at the recent tango workshop with Lorena Ermocida and Pancho Martinez Pey. They are not only world-class professional dancers but also exceptional instructors. Their teaching style was clear, encouraging, and full of personal attention—they made sure everyone received individual guidance throughout the class.
The group size was perfect: large enough to create great energy, yet small enough that both leads and follows got plenty of time to work closely with the material. The balance between leaders and followers was very good, which made the learning experience even smoother and more enjoyable.
Their performance during the workshop was absolutely breathtaking. Watching them dance live was inspiring and gave so much depth to the lessons they taught. Their musicality, connection, and artistry are simply on another level.
I will definitely attend again if they return to town. It was such a helpful, inspiring, and unforgettable experience!

My first class was great! I dropped into an intermediate tango class. The studio has an amazing vibe and I was immediately met with friendly and warm people who noticed it was my first time and took a moment to say hello. Class was super fun and Monica the teacher was really great, too – she made sure I felt included and took time to give me feedback. I’ll definitely be back!

Fun fun fun!!!! Very good instruction with welcoming, no judgment, positive energy. My instructor Robbie shares many different concepts in learnable, clear sections and is happy to address all questions! Class prices are economical and there are lots of different types of dancing to learn:) Mix of folks coming alone, as a couple, or with a small group. Robbie lets the couples who want to stay coupled, and the rest of us changed partners about every 3-5 minutes. She is flexible with different learning styles and comfort zones. She encourages us to try both leader and follower role in our dance journey so we can better understand dance. Her love of dance is so apparent and it energizes the room. I feel so lucky to have found this gem and will continue to come to Esquina Tango including trying different classes and instructors!

This was the best experience I planned for my 50th birthday! Our instructor was AMAZING!!! She was patient, fun, accommodating with capturing photos and videos, and just everything we wanted to make our class fun. My friends and I traveled from San Antonio, Dallas, and Little Rock to Austin, for an eventful weekend, and Inner Diva was the highlight of our trip. Thanks again for helping to kickoff my birthday month.

Puppy yoga was life giving. Although I didn’t do much yoga, it was fun watching the puppies interact with the staff, and customers. The instructor knew we would be distracted. She wasn’t offended that we didn’t focus on yoga. Will come back to see another group of puppies.

This was a beginner-level pole dance class.
Parking was available and easy to access at the time of my visit.
The studio’s website clearly states that no one who is late will be allowed in. The front desk staff member explained the check-in process clearly, including the studio’s no-shoes policy. Shoes are left outside the studio space on the floor.
The lobby contains a variety of merchandise available for purchase. There are multiple bathrooms available for students. The studio is clean, open, and well-maintained with ample space around poles. We were allowed to bring purses, car keys, and cell phone inside the studio. It would be useful to bring socks to class for some of the moves.
The class was led by an experienced instructor. She is physically fit and lithe. She was kind and non-intimidating. She started the class with a brief but necessary warm-up, stretching session. The music was appropriate and not so loud that the instructor couldn’t be heard.
Most students shared a pole with another person; a few did not. Sharing a pole allowed for rest breaks, observation, and camaraderie. Class time was fully utilized for instruction and practice. The instructor allowed us to take personal photos of our friends or our group at the end of class if we desired.

I’ve been coming here for over 8 months and it’s my happy place. I had never done pole before last year and all the instructors were so welcoming. It can be intimidating to try a new sport/hobby, but the Introduction level classes are perfect for anyone! You don’t have to be super strong or flexible to enjoy and learn at Inner Diva, then teach in an approachable way that builds gradually. There’s no pressure to advance quickly, no competitiveness, and no judgement. I don’t know if I would have stuck to pole or learned as much as I have at any other studio in the area.
Beyond that, the studio is always clean and comfortable. Amber, Démi (hopefully spelling it right) and Monica all make Inner Diva one of my favorite places to go each week, so much so that I now drive an hour one way to make it to class!

Attended a sound bath here. The setting was pleasant. However, the sound bath was far from relaxing. The sound bath teacher played a recording at a really high volume, the the point that it felt like my eardrums were going to rupture. The acoustics in the dance studio are absolutely not amenable for sound baths; the sounds bounce harshly off the walls and amplify. The sound bath teacher seemed to not have a deep understanding of sound therapy and the environmental requirements for it to be effective.
I left more tense than I came.

Had a great time here! I scheduled a pole dancing class as an activity during a bachelorette party weekend and it was so much fun!!!! Our instructor was fun, patient, and knowledgeable!
I had a big group (9 people), and Inner Diva was one of the only places that had a big enough space for us to all have our own poles!
I highly recommend!

We are so grateful for Ms. Kelly and Ms. Sofi! This is Kora’s first ballet and tap class, and she absolutely loves it. She’s always excited to go to class and comes home eager to practice—she even follows her teachers’ advice and practices her routine at night! Their kindness, patience, and encouragement have made her feel confident and motivated to keep learning. Thank you both for creating such a joyful and inspiring experience for our little dancer!

We’ve had such a wonderful experience at Dancers Workshop over the past two years! Our older daughter took her first hip hop class with Mr.Gabe last year and it was such a confidence-building experience—he helped her realize she could really dance. This year, Ms.Lauren’s energy and fun choreography have taken her love for hip hop even further. Both years’ classes and recitals have been joyful, memorable experiences.
In ballet, we’ve been lucky to have amazing teachers as well. Ms.Kristi’s summer class was a perfect introduction last year, and this year’s class with Ms.Summer has continued to build both skills and love for dance.
And our younger daughter has absolutely loved her ballet class with Ms.Kayla this year—it’s been so much fun for her, and we’ve seen her interest in dance really blossom.
We’re so grateful to all the teachers who make Dancers Workshop such a warm, inspiring place for kids to grow. Thank you!

Inspired Movement offers a fantastic introduction to Latin dance. The instruction is excellent, catering to all levels, and the atmosphere is encouraging. I appreciate that they focus on building a solid foundation of technique. Their curriculum seems well-structured, helping dancers progressively improve their skills and gain confidence on the dance floor. This makes learning accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
The studio’s strength lies in creating a supportive community. The emphasis on partner rotation in group classes is a clever way to encourage interaction and overcome awkwardness. Their teaching staff appears to be committed to fostering a positive and engaging environment, allowing participants to develop their skills and enjoy a fulfilling experience through Latin dance. The program provides structured learning which is fantastic.

Inspired movement was my first salsa lesson. So much fun. The best thing about these lessons is after they give you a little run down they have you to change partners every 30 seconds or so. That way you’re not stuck with the same person the entire lesson or not stuck with someone that’s awkward love love love this place.

Best studio to learn how to dance salsa and bachata in Austin!!
I really like how they have a belt system for their class progression, it motivates you to keep learning! Each class has a curriculum of skills to master.
Their most popular day is Tuesday, when they offer both salsa and bachata classes for all levels. They also their dance social at 10pm that day.
Shoutout to the instructors, especially Hannah, Michael, Morgan, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Marcus, and Favian – they are all fabulous! I would also highly recommend taking private lessons with them to accelerate your learning and get personalized feedback.

BEST DANCE SCENE IN TEXAS!!!
Best dance teachers in Texas!!
Best dance environment anywhere!
After COVID I was in a dark place and I found IM and all I can say… IM saved my life and brought joy back to my soul! The smiles, the music, the teaching and friendships and dancing made me whole again!
In the last 6 months of dedication, my confidence, friendships and dance skills have all bloomed to outstanding levels. Fabian and his IM Team are exceptional, professional and super invested and passionate about this community. They’ve dedicated their lives towards teaching you to become your absolute best version of a dancer! They even have dance teams if you want more. It’s fun, it’s safe, it’s challenging and it’s for everyone from beginners like me with 2 left feet to those who aspire to compete or teach one day. Every single instructor has been a joy to learn from. I love them all. They have two massive studios that are great for teaching and the social afterward is certainly a cherry on top! You gotta be there! You’ll never regret it.
Oh, and they didn’t pay me for this review… I just gotta share this amazing news!
You’ve missed out on enough dance nights so after reading this go take a free class!

They have an absolute steal of an introductory package, and the classes are still affordable after that first month, more so than other studios I’ve been to. There is a complete variety of dances to learn from Latin to ballroom to swing. The leveling up system and the format of the classes really give you an opportunity to grow and get better quickly and smoothly in my opinion. Fun, large community. Great instructors, some/many of which happen to be the very best of the best in their fields of focus. They are very nice and eager to help. Especially impressed by the west coast swing talent at this studio. I doubt there’s another studio anywhere in this state, let alone the country, quite as great and accessible as this one.

I began studying the Argentine Tango with Ricardo Correa and Lindsey Zan a few years ago, shortly after both my parents died and I had other seminal changes in my life. I say that because art and dance are healing; the Argentine Tango community at Go Dance is inviting, fun, and supportive and Ricardo and Lindsey are two of the kindest and most skillful teachers in any field that I have ever encountered. I’m so glad to be a part of this wonderful community and a student of Ricardo and Lindsey.

My husband and I took private dance lessons with Hilary for about 4 months leading up to our wedding and we had the very best experience! Hilary was encouraging, positive, and a pure delight to work with. My husband (a complete beginner) and I learned tons of moves we never could have dreamed of on our own, and we walked in to our first dance feeling confident and excited. The entire experience was a huge success and we highly recommend Uptown Dance if you are looking for help with your wedding dance! We plan to continue just for fun.

It was so worth it to book lessons with Uptown Dance for our first wedding dance. We booked fairly close to our wedding and are not dancers ourselves, so we were very lucky to get Jeni for 3 lessons! Jeni created an easy to learn, yet interesting routine for us that synced up nicely with our song! Most of all, the dance lessons and at home practice were a fun way to connect leading up to the wedding. We also got some nice photos from the routine!

Did a 6 session dance lessons package with Hilary for our first dance at our wedding. Hilary was great to work with. We went in with little ballroom dance experience and she was able to make two awkward people look like pros. It was fun going to our weekly lesson and was a nice addition to our date nights. She was patience and let us record part of our lesson so we could practice at home. I would highly recommend Austin Uptown for fun weekly lessons or a wedding first dance package.

My husband and I had the most amazing experience taking dance lessons for our first dance. Hilary is the most fun, kind and encouraging person I’ve ever met. It was such a pleasure to see her every week leading up to our big day. She made us feel like rockstars! My husband had zero dance experience and not only learned to dance, but felt confident in leading me on the dance floor. We had so much fun working with Hilary that it ended up being our favorite date night leading up to the wedding. We even came in for Father/Daughter and Mother/Son dance lessons before the wedding, too. She was so encouraging and supportive throughout the whole process. We had so much fun and felt so comfortable dancing at our wedding. We highly recommend Hilary and the Uptown Dance team!!

I started taking dance lessons here, initially thinking I would just learn a couple of basic social dances. Now I’m practicing over 10 different styles and can’t imagine my life without dance. I was a complete beginner (I had never taken a formal dance class in my life (just a two step lesson at White Horse and maybe a salsa lesson in a dance club), and I immediately felt happy and comfortable here. The studio is my happy place and a major part of my life now. All of the teachers are amazing. The community of students is warm and welcoming. I’m always having fun, but my teachers also make sure that I’m challenging myself to learn and grow. I love Dance With Me!

“Dance With Me Austin has truly become like a second home to me. From the very first class, I felt not just welcomed but genuinely cared for. The instructors are beyond talented, but what makes them so special is their kindness, patience, and the way they believe in you even when you doubt yourself. They meet you where you are, and then somehow bring out the very best in you every single time. Over the course of my journey here, I’ve not only learned how to dance with more skill and grace, but I’ve also found a community filled with joy, encouragement, and laughter. Every lesson feels like a celebration, and I always leave lighter and happier than when I came in. Dance With Me isn’t just a studio it’s a place where confidence, artistry, and friendships grow. I’m forever grateful for the love, passion, and family I’ve found here.”

After enjoying a couple of private lessons at this studio, I was genuinely excited to use my new pass for social dance classes. Unfortunately, my first group class left me feeling invisible and unwelcome. I called ahead to confirm it was beginner-friendly. I arrived early to try and meet the instructor, but I was unable to make any connection before class began. During the warm-up, I couldn’t see or hear what was happening due to a lack of amplification and multiple simultaneous lessons. When we were asked to pair off, I had no partner and felt overlooked, as no one checked in or even glanced my way as I tried to find one. It was isolating and discouraging, especially as a newcomer.
I did reach out to the studio to express this and was told the manager would follow up with me, but they did not. I’m sharing this review, not to be harsh, but in hopes that others won’t have the same experience. Feeling seen and welcomed should be a part of every dance class, especially for beginners.

Absolutely Amazing!
It is absolutely gorgeous from the outside and the instructors are both knowledgeable and friendly! I have no formal training or knowledge in dance, so I was a bit nervous at first.
That went away immediately, all of the instructors are very approachable and made a newbie like me feel at ease. There’s so many different dances to choose from and you get to keep on building your skills. I always feel really happy after a class. Jason is my primary teacher, and he’s very patient and kind in teaching new students. I take private and group classes, and they’ve been great. Haven’t yet been to the socials yet, but they look amazing! It’s actually a really smart concept.
I highly recommend this for anyone looking to learn how to ballroom dance.
I even wrote/drew a little comic about my first encounter with the studio. I was literally just walking by.

Emma is amazing! We had a crash course for our wedding dance and Emma choreographed our first dance. We’re not great dancers. Actually, we were quick rough and annoyed at each other haha My husband would step on my foot often and we didn’t flow naturally. Emma showed us methods and movements to help make it fluid. She even taught us how to work in a loft properly due to our ankle injuries. Our first dance was a success, thank you Emma!

Dance Discovery appears to offer a range of classes appealing to diverse skill levels. The instructors seem committed to providing a well-rounded approach to dance, focusing on technique and fostering a supportive learning atmosphere. A structured curriculum could be a real asset for families seeking a solid dance foundation for their children.
It would be beneficial for the studio to prioritize seamless accessibility and enhanced support for younger or newer students. Addressing logistical issues, like bathroom access, and proactively engaging all students would create a more positive and welcoming experience. Improved student onboarding would likely lead to increased satisfaction.

We recently started at Dance Discovery with high hopes, but unfortunately, our experience so far has been quite disappointing. My daughter (age 3) has attended four different classes with different instructors as we tried to find the right fit for her. As a shy new student, I expected at least a minimal effort from the teachers to help her feel welcomed and included—but that has largely been missing.
In most of the classes, there was little to no effort to engage her, encourage her participation, or help her feel part of the group. Even in the few classes that had student assistants present, they did not step in to support her or offer any guidance. In one instance, my daughter needed tap shoes (which are available in a shared bin for those without), and rather than assisting us, the student assistant pointed me toward the bin to figure it out myself—something that could have easily been handled more supportively, especially for a brand-new child.
Another serious concern is bathroom access. My daughter is still potty training, and after a 45-minute drive to get to class, we often urgently need to use the restroom upon arrival. To access the bathrooms, however, you must walk through two active classrooms, which feels disruptive and uncomfortable. On one occasion, it took us over 10 minutes just to get into a stall, which meant missing a significant portion of class while awkwardly waiting in a hallway right next to an ongoing session.
Overall, I’m very surprised by the lack of accommodations or support for young children and new families. It’s disappointing because I had high hopes for this studio, but at this point, I’m not confident that it’s the right environment for us and have thus put in our 30 days.

I can’t recommend dance discovery studio highly enough. The classes are incredibly versatile, and the teachers are not only highly professional but also bring a healthy, balanced approach to dance education. They share a deep knowledge of the dance world and provide tools and insights I haven’t seen in any other studio across Austin. My daughter is thriving and absolutely shining here — it’s truly a special place.

My 10yr old’s first experience with ballet (a little older than most children) left her feeling so encouraged! So much that she showed us all she learned, explained the proper form, and then even wanted to choreograph what she did learn to other music pieces. Ms Jamie made us feel so welcomed – I was able to observe the interaction between the instructor and children and it was incredible. They were engaged! Watching Ms Jamie made me feel so confident and thankful that I found Dance Discovery just by watching her engage, instruct, and teach! Ms Jamie’s got some amazing talent and I am so glad that Dance Discovery has her on board to teach her talent to our child!! It doesn’t stop there! Ms Peggy who was subbing had her own unique way of teaching and guiding the children too! We didn’t get to stay long, but we felt such an appreciation for Ms Peggy too! So far we have observed such amazing talent, human kindness, and professionalism in Ms Jamie and Ms Peggy – we look forward to more of an experience for our child at Dance Discovery

Tess is the BEST! I’d recommend any single or couple take lessons from her. Not only did she make it fun for us but she was great at helping you get out of your own head. I always remember “go back to my box” now. Tess – Julia and I are so grateful you were the one who taught us and made our first dance at our wedding so special. You rock!

My fiance and I had so much fun and learned a ton on our wedding dance lessons!
We worked with Paul for our intro class and learned Texas 2 step as well as a dip! Paul was very helpful with all the little tips and corrections to set us up for success.
Then we decided we were ready for another lesson and JP was amazing! We worked on more of the basics for our Texas 2 step to make sure we’re in correct form, how to best lead and follow, more tips and corrections, AND not just 1 turn but also a double turn and our walk into the dance!
If you’re looking for a great place to step up your wedding dance or just have some fun date nights learning to dance with your partner then I highly recommend coming to Arthur Murray!
I love it here and can’t wait to come back for more lessons!

My fiance and I signed up for one class a few months before our wedding and learned so much + had such a great time, we signed up for 6 more classes.
Ally made our classes fun, tailored to what we envisioned for our first dance, and was such an incredible instructor. Especially given our lack of experience dancing! We now feel SO confident and excited for our first dance at our wedding next week.
Thank you so much for such a great experience – You Make It Easy!!
We’ll definitely be coming back for more date-night classes in the near future.

We absolutely loved our classes at Arthur Murray. Over a few months we took a half dozen classes with Grace and Johnny. Grace was incredible at teaching us the craft of two-step and country swing. Johnny did an excellent job tying it all together for our First Dance. We look forward to seeing them both again in the near future.

Ally was a great instructor, we were late and she still was so nice she gave us our whole session time. LGBT friendly. They are financially flexible don’t let that stop you from learning how to dance. My wife and I went for my birthday and that was super special.

Some schools also specialize in specific styles like ballroom or swing dancing. The variety reflects the diverse interests of the community.
How do I choose the right dance school for my child?
Selecting the right school involves considering several factors. Consider your child’s age, interests, and skill level. Look for a school with a positive and supportive environment, experienced instructors, and a curriculum that emphasizes both technique and creative expression. Observing a class is a great way to assess the atmosphere.
What age groups do Austin dance schools cater to?
Austin dance schools generally cater to a broad range of ages. Many offer parent-and-me classes for toddlers, structured classes for children aged 3 and up, teen programs, and adult classes. It's important to check the specific age ranges offered for particular styles of dance at each school.
What are the typical class sizes at these schools?
Class sizes can vary greatly depending on the school and the level of the class. Beginner classes often have larger class sizes to accommodate more students. More advanced or specialized classes often have smaller sizes to allow for more individual attention and personalized instruction. It's beneficial to inquire about average class sizes when researching schools.
What is the difference between recreational and competitive dance programs?
Recreational programs are designed for students who want to learn dance for fun and fitness. They typically focus on building a foundation in basic techniques and enjoying the process. Competitive programs, on the other hand, require a greater time commitment and emphasize performance and technique for competitions. Students in competitive programs often have stricter schedules and higher expectations.
What are the costs associated with dance lessons?
The cost of dance lessons varies depending on the school, the style of dance, the length of the class, and whether it's a recreational or competitive program. Most schools offer various payment options, including monthly tuition, package deals, and sometimes scholarship opportunities. Other styles may require specific dancewear, athletic wear, or shoes. Check the school's website or contact them directly to find out about dress code requirements.
How often do students typically attend classes each week?
The frequency of classes varies depending on the student's age, skill level, and program. Recreational classes often meet once or twice a week. Students in competitive programs may attend classes several times a week, plus rehearsals. It’s important to consider the time commitment involved before enrolling.
Are there performance opportunities for students?
Many Austin dance schools provide performance opportunities for their students throughout the year. These may include studio showcases, holiday performances, and participation in community events. Performing can be a rewarding experience for students and a chance to showcase their skills. Not all schools offer regular performances; inquire about this during your research.
