I surprised my daughter for her 23rd birthday by going on The Duck and OMG! We’re just from San Antonio, so we’re not true Austin “visitors”. My husband works in Austin every day driving medical linen trucks, and even he had a great time. It was an experience. The driver/captain was great and our tour guy…. superb.
And my daughter was so impressed with it that she recently thanked me again. Do it! Thank me later. ❤️!! We’re gonna go again. Love from South Texas!!

It’s was my first time In Austin and booking this tour was a great experience and fun as well! Captain Bob was great , very entertaining an knowledgeable about the area! Also since it was my birthday, Captain Bob made it a point to make me feel special by allowing me to drive the boat on the river and singing happy birthday to me duck style! Also enjoyed the quacker whistles as we blew them and waved at others! It was very memorable for me! Thanks Captain Bob for making my day!! I highly recommend this tour !

We had a lot of fun on this tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny and it was far more entertaining to blow our duck whistle and wave at people than it has any right to be. A great way to see the city!

Our tour guide Ike was incredible!!!! He was super funny, told dad jokes, very informative, and super friendly. Me and my family wanted to see a lot of things in Austin and he took the time to make sure we saw what we wanted to see. In fact we went over our tour time by 15 minutes so we got to see a lot of the things we wanted too. He also treated us to cookies! At the end of our tour he played happy birthday for me and my brother on his pocket trumpet even though our birthday is in December. Thank you Ike and Austin Detours for an incredible experience! I cannot recommend taking one of these tours enough. It is so much fun!!!!!

Evan was fantastic. I had a broken foot and was needing a wheelchair. He made every effort to make my tour as comfortable and it’s easy as possible. He was so kind and gave us additional ideas for restaurants and things to do in Austin. He showed us all the great sites of downtown. It was one of the highlights of my visit.

I took the Austin Detours Street Art + Street Food tour today with Evan, and it was hands-down one of the BEST Austin experiences I’ve ever had!
Evan is an incredible guide — fun, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Austin’s culture. I lucked out and was the only guest on the tour, so it felt like a private, behind-the-scenes adventure. We explored amazing street art spots, learned the stories behind the murals, and tasted some seriously delicious local food along the way.
Evan went above and beyond to make the day unforgettable — from sharing insider Austin history to introducing me to hidden gems I never would have found on my own. If you want a true taste of Austin’s creative side (and its killer food scene), THIS is the tour to book.
Thank you, Austin Detours and Evan, for an epic day! Oh, BTW, I’m born and raised here and I learned ALOT, lololololo!

I did 2 different tours and had 2 amazing guides! Jax for the “Tour Austin” was super friendly and knowledgeable of all the neighborhoods and the Austin music scene past and present. David was another great guide for the half day wine trip. I was solo but the whole group loved him! He was personable and open to all questions. He was so sweet with his personalization for each of passenger on places in Austin to check out. They both really care about what they do! I’m gonna be back soon and will definitely take another tour!

My friends and I went on the Urban Wine Tasting experience and ended up being the only 3 on the tour which was a fun surprise! We were energetic, talkative and overall excited, and that excitement only grew more and more throughout the day as the wine was poured 🙂 Our guide Evan totally matched our energy and made sure we were having a great time. Since we were the only ones on the tour, Evan was flexible with our timing and drop off location. It was a fun way to explore different parts of Austin in a short amount of time. Highly recommend for a memorable afternoon!

We took the Real Austin Tour with Ike as our guide. We instantly hit it off with Ike. Our demented sense of humor made the tour extremely enjoyable. Ike is very knowledgeable the history, music scene and was able to answer our questions. I named a couple of obscure bands and he knew them.
This tour was a great introduction to Austin. We definitely found more things to do in Austin than we knew about, so maybe allow yourself some extra time for those hidden gems. We especially liked learning about some of the murals. This also does a stop at the Capitol a very interesting piece of the heavy front door (not spoiling what it is) Take this tour to find out!.
We highly recommend this tour. Ike was so personable we plan on keeping in touch.
I asked for Ike’s permission to post his picture.

On April 28th my wife and I were lucky enough to take the Half-day Hill Country Wine Tour with Keltie. Awesome doesn’t say enough about what a great driver, narrator and guide she was. She was funny and informative. She kept us on schedule without making us feel rushed and gave us fantastic suggestions. She was our photographer and on the trip back to Austin, our disc jockey. I can’t imagine anyone being as skilled as her in her role. We came as strangers and we honestly felt we left as friends. What a great day we had and it was mostly due to Keltie.

The Lone Star Riverboat offers a really unique way to see Austin. The opportunity to view the city from the water is quite pleasant, especially with the gentle movement of the boat. The guides seem well-versed in the area’s history and architecture, providing engaging commentary about the buildings along the shore and the city’s background. It’s a comfortable and relaxing experience, perfect for a casual afternoon exploring.
A definite highlight is the chance to witness the famous bat emergence from under the Congress Avenue Bridge. It’s a spectacle that’s best enjoyed from the river, providing a memorable perspective on this natural wonder. The operation appears professional, and the boats are well-maintained, contributing to a generally positive and enjoyable excursion. Austin sightseeing, river tours, bat watching, Lady Bird Lake.

An Unforgettable Family Experience on the Lone Star Riverboat!
Our family recently enjoyed a truly fantastic time aboard the Lone Star Riverboat, and we can’t recommend it enough! From start to finish, it was an engaging and memorable experience that offered so much more than just a boat ride.
The tour provided fascinating insights into the buildings lining Lady Bird Lake, giving us a new appreciation for Austin’s architecture and history. As the sun began to set, we were treated to a truly breathtaking display – one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever seen, painting the sky with incredible colors.
Of course, a highlight was witnessing the spectacular emergence of the bats from under the Congress Avenue Bridge. It’s an iconic Austin experience, and seeing it from the unique vantage point of the river was absolutely magical.
What truly elevated the experience were the knowledgeable guides. They shared a wealth of fun facts about the city, and we learned so much about the incredible bats that migrate all the way from Mexico to Austin, including their vital role in the city’s ecosystem. Their commentary was engaging and made the entire tour feel both educational and entertaining.
If you’re looking for a unique and enjoyable way to experience Austin with your family, complete with stunning views, fascinating history, and an unforgettable natural phenomenon, the Lone Star Riverboat is an absolute must-do! We had a great time and made some wonderful family memories.

What an awesomely unique experience we had on the bat tour with Lone Star riverboats. They weren’t exaggerating when they said hundreds of thousands of bats will fly out from under the bridge! They literally fly out for about 20 min! The tour guide did a great job giving a little history of the city. BTW- San Antonio has the largest bat colony! Bring a raincoat in case it rains and a hood to protect from bat droppings… Would highly recommend if visiting Austin.

Highly recommend. Natalie was our tour guide on the Northern Star pontoon and she was terrific. Melissa greeted us, checked us in, and was the tour guide for the Southern Star pontoon; she was great as well. We sat in the front row and could hear all of Natalie’s facts, tips, history, and information. That plastic lawn chairs were tolerable. The boat ride was lovely, the information was interesting, our guide was engaging, and the bats . . . The bats were AWESOME! The four of us completely enjoyed ourselves and would do this tour again.

We do this once a year and it is literally one of our funnest days of the year every time. Our group of friends do loads of group activities from wine party busses to party boats, but this one is always the most fun.
They have a live band on the bus and great spokespeople. To me, when they hire a band that combines some well-known singalong songs (such as Friends in Low Places) it gets the vibe up higher faster.
Although we did not have that combo on the bus yesterday to get the busgoers as involved, the music was awesome and the fun was spectacular. Tex offered a great vibe as the bus speaker and coordinator.
I despise ciders but I always bring along my own mimosas to share because usually you will be served ciders at most of the stops.
The food is always fantastic and we explore new places every time.
The bus vibe is exceptionally fun.
Well worth the price. Do it.

Twisted Texas tours was an absolute BLAST! My partner and I joined the Sunday brunch crew and our expectations were blown away. The band, tour guide and bus driver were all so incredibly friendly, fun and talented. The bus has instructions where guests can request songs and the band will play those songs as we moved from place to place. We stopped at 3 places and the tour cost covers 1 drink and 1 food item at each place. The drinks and food items are preset but guests can order whatever they want additional on their own. We stopped at 3 super cool spots – Freddo’s off SoCo, Still, and EastCiders in East Austin. It was such a cool way to see the different parts of Austin.
I had considered doing a different tour for less money but the more I researched, the more I felt that the Twisted Texas tour would be worth it – and I am happy to confirm that I was right!!! For the price and all that you get, it’s an incredible value and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my morning and my money! If you are in Austin – even for a short weekend – this is a MUST DO! It does not take up more than a few hours and you get to hear a great live band, meet new people, and learn a little about Austin TX food and drink scene.
Highly highly recommend and really appreciate Twisted Texas tours for having such a cool idea and executing it flawlessly. No complaints at all and really look forward to the next tour we go on with

This Austin Duck adventure tour was so much fun for the entire family and every age group. Included is your very own Duck whistle to whistle at passersby. Our tour guide and driver Captain Bob made the experience even more fun with flowing commentary on sightseeing, landmarks and restaurant suggestions. Seeing all the beautiful lake homes of the rich and famous once we were in the water. Upon returning where you check in for the tour is an amazing gift shop with everything you would want to take home to remember your memories of Austin Texas and more.

I should’ve reviewed this sooner but I keep forgetting. I showed up in Austin and couldn’t check into my hotel till 4. The Austin Visitor Center safely stored my luggage for 8 dollars while I toured the city. It was such a relief! The woman that helped me with this, I believe her name is Angel (at least she was an angel), was passionate about Austin! She said she came from out of town too, Portland maybe, and gave me a map of downtown highlighted with all the best places to tour! Per her advice I went to the capitol building and got a tour on the top of the hour. Then, I went to the O. Henry House and that was an incredible experience all on its own. I wish I could’ve seen more of the places she highlighted but my trip was too short (I kept the map though for my next trip), but anyone that needs ideas on what to do in Austin should visit here first!

I recently went to an Envy Luxe Vacations & Escapes presentation and was actually really impressed. The team was super friendly, not overly pushy, and explained everything clearly. The whole vibe was professional but relaxed, which I appreciated.

The presentation was awesome! I did not purchase the opportunity, but would consider it in the future. HOWEVER, upon receiving the promised flight and hotel accommodations perk (Certificate) for listening to the presentation, I was disappointed to see a $50 fee to sign in for the trip AND $199 each flight/hotel reward charged for “hotel taxes, airline taxes, airport fees, agency fees, ETC (the etc.! haha) — it further details in the Terms and Conditions flight/hotel rewards are not available for “Dates near (how near?) holidays, weekends (yep, no weekends) and during major conventions (pretty sure major conventions are all the time).

I contacted The Passport & Visa Company to apply for an expedited passport and spoke to Pauline. Pauline was a wonderful patient, humble professional, and detailed. Pauline answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. She got everything taking care of, I didn’t even have to take a picture because she took my picture in the office. She kept me updated every step of the way. My passport was completed and received in six days!!!!
I’m so happy that I contacted The Passport & Visa Company and am so glad that I talked to Pauline and wish I could give her and the company one thousand stars review. Don’t waste your time and energy. Call them and get your piece of mind.

Where to start with this company? Well as i am planning a trip an ask that goes along with it, i forgot to get my visa. It was very last minute when I emailed The Passport & Visa Company, I was panicked and stressed. I immediately got a response which by the way was on a Sunday night. What can I say about Kayla Priest? Not nearly enough praise can be given to her. I was in full panic mode and Kayla was calm and very reassuring, she was patient and understanding. I understand that this is her job but it’s how she does her job is what stands out. I’m no one special Kayla offers this type of service to everyone. The Passport & Visa Company has a customer for life. In my opinion Kayla is a reflection of the dedication and professionalism that this company offers. Again, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

High praise for The Passport & Visa Company for their excellent, professional, and expedited services in assisting me with obtaining my passport in record time. The cost is low compared to the invaluable assistance I received. Pauline was knowledgeable, meticulous, paid attention to all the details; all of this with a helpful and friendly attitude – the morning coffee was a lovely bonus. 🙂 My passport arrived in less than 3 weeks. I highly recommend The Passport & Visa Company’s services!

If you need help with travel documents or passport questions, look no further: This is the place.
Pauline made renewing my passport under my new married name incredibly easy. I already had the documents prepared, but I’d been putting it off until I realized I had a trip to Argentina in just 4 weeks. She was efficient, knowledgeable, and handled everything with such professionalism. I also watched her assist a walk-in customer during my visit (quickly and seamlessly) which speaks volumes about how well she knows her stuff.
Although I didn’t work with Kayla directly, I overheard her expertly juggling phone calls, walk-ins, and document reviews at the same time.
That said, I’d suggest scheduling an appointment before coming in– it only made my experience move even smoother, and I felt admittedly prioritized with a scheduled appointment (they were kind enough to squeeze me in, same day).
This is clearly a small but mighty team, and they know what they’re doing. Highly recommend!!

Kayla and Pauline made applying for passports for us and our children a pleasure. We simply brought relevant documents, they asked the right questions, filled out forms took pictures and facilitated a same day meeting at the county court needed for kids to travel abroad. Super friendly, smart and ORGANIZED!

I worked with Pauline at the Passport and Visa Company for a China Visa & Vietnam Visa. I cannot tell you how great they were. I had very tight timelines and was very nervous. They held my hand through every single step, verified all my documents, scans, images, etc. When we sent the applications in I was very confident the paperwork was completed properly. The team followed up with me at every step. Both visas were issued quickly and i am headed out! Thanks so much for a job well done!!!

This was my 1st time getting a passport and without their help I bet it would have taken twice as long with the government needing more documents. This is a great, professional company and very private. I always feel comfortable and secure having them help me with getting my passport and passport ID cards. They even opened their office up for me a on Saturday because I couldn’t drive. Great service.

This was incredibly fun! Kelsie did a good job getting us around downtown Austin. Saw the bats, heard some good ghost stories. Loved the breeze (because it had been over 100 degrees that day). A great way to learn more about Austin history. And segway’s are really easy to ride! Definitely recommend this!

Our Segway tour of downtown Austin with Kelsie was memorable. This was our first time riding and he was a capable and patient teacher. He also seems to know EVERYONE along the way and is very passionate about Austin. We enjoyed doing many of the things he told us about along the way that we would likely not have done on our own (toured the nearby Capitol, saw the bats, had some Torchy’s Tacos). A super nice time!

Kelsey was amazing! He showed us and our teen kids the ropes on how to safely maneuver our Segways and then took us on an informative, fun ride through Austin. I only wish I would have booked a tour with him sooner so we could get the insider scoop on the best Austin has to offer! Highly recommend!!!

Kelsie gave a great historical tour of Austin and also provided personal experiences which added to the tour. Kelsie recommended multiple places to visit and to eat while on the trip. We visited several while in town and they were top notch. His attention to safety while leading us was noticed and appreciated. We recommend Kelsie and Segway Nation!

Had an absolute blast on the Austin Haunted Ghost and Bat tour! Kelsie was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we easily navigated thru some pretty crowded areas! We got to see some amazing sights around downtown Austin, including the Capitol, 6th Street, and some cool hidden gems we never would’ve found on our own. Great mix of fun, history, ghost stories and cruising around the city. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Austin or even locals wanting a new perspective on their city!

Theresa was very helpful in getting me a new passport after UPS lost mine! (Don’t trust UPS with your passport they have already lost 4 of them I heard). This was incredibly frustrating to go through but this service was the best part of the experience as sent all documents I sent her the same day to Houston. This was huge in getting the best turnaround time possible. Highly recommend!

I just picked up my passport from Teresa. I needed to get a new passport within 2 weeks, and expedited usually takes 2-4 weeks. I found her through Google and decided to use her agency since her website and the reviews claimed she was fast. At first, I didn’t have high hopes and was a little nervous to use this agency. But she delivered and was extremely professional and kind during the whole process. She really wanted to help, and my passport and passport card was delivered on time before my trip, as well as all my original documents. I already reccomended her to so many friends and family, she is fantastic and knows what she’s doing. I am so pleased and happy with the service. Y para mi gente hispana, ella habla español también! 10/10 service, so happy and grateful I found her!

Frequently Asked Questions about Travel Agencies in Austin
What are the benefits of using a travel agency versus booking online myself?
While online booking platforms offer convenience, using a travel agency provides personalized service and expertise. Travel agents have industry knowledge, can often secure better deals through established relationships with suppliers, and act as your advocate if issues arise during your trip. They can also handle complex itineraries and offer peace of mind that you aren't navigating unfamiliar territory alone.
How do travel agencies in Austin typically get paid?
Most travel agencies in Austin are compensated through commissions paid by airlines, hotels, cruise lines, and other suppliers. You may not directly pay a fee, although some agencies may charge a service fee for particularly complex itineraries or for handling specific tasks like visa applications. Transparency about how they are paid is key; always ask!
What types of travel do Austin travel agencies specialize in?
Austin’s travel agencies cater to a wide range of interests. Some specialize in luxury travel, others focus on adventure tourism, family vacations, or group travel. Many agencies also have expertise in specific destinations, such as European travel or cruises. Knowing their areas of expertise helps you find an agency suited to your needs.
How can I ensure a travel agency is reputable?
To ensure an agency is reputable, check their credentials and licenses. Look for memberships in professional organizations like ASTA (American Society of Travel Advisors). Read online reviews and testimonials from previous clients. A good agency will be transparent about their fees and policies.
What happens if there's a travel emergency during my trip?
A good travel agency provides support during travel emergencies. They can assist with rebooking flights, finding alternative accommodations, and communicating with suppliers. They should have access to a 24/7 emergency contact who can provide assistance regardless of the time zone.
Do travel agencies offer price matching?
Some travel agencies in Austin offer price matching. This means if you find a lower price for the same travel arrangements elsewhere, they will match it. This can offer great value and demonstrate their commitment to providing competitive rates. However, always read the fine print regarding the terms and conditions.
What information do I need to provide to a travel agency?
To help a travel agency find the best options for you, you’ll need to provide specific details about your trip, including your preferred destinations, travel dates, budget, and any special needs or requests. Providing accurate and complete information ensures they can tailor your trip effectively. You’d also need passport details and other personal information.
Can travel agencies help with complicated itineraries, like multi-city trips?
Yes, travel agencies excel at handling complicated itineraries like multi-city trips, especially those involving multiple airlines, hotels, or activities. They can coordinate all the logistics, ensuring smooth connections and minimizing potential disruptions.
How do travel agencies stay updated on travel restrictions and safety guidelines?
Reputable travel agencies have access to real-time updates on travel restrictions, safety guidelines, and health advisories. They stay informed through industry networks, government agencies, and travel supplier communications, ensuring you are aware of the latest information before and during your trip.
What are the advantages of using a travel agency for group travel arrangements?
For group travel, a travel agency can be invaluable. They manage all aspects of the booking process, including securing group rates, coordinating transportation, and handling logistics. They also serve as a central point of contact for communication and problem-solving, making group travel significantly easier to manage.
